A short while later, Lileep had recovered some of its injuries. Its eyes finally opened again, and it pushed itself back up.
"Bella, be honest with me... is he really a freshman?"
Konrad's expression was strange.
Just like Excadrill, this Lileep's recovery and endurance were clearly beyond the scope of the Advanced-rank. It was a complete monster.
"He really is a freshman."
Bella didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but she understood Konrad's disbelief. In some ways, Basalt's talent seemed to have already surpassed both of theirs.
"Are all the freshmen this strong nowadays?"

It was an avian-like Pokémon with an egg-shaped body covered in fluffy white fur. It had broad, triangular wings and red and blue triangular markings on its underside. The spikes on the front of its head had fanned out into a three-pronged crest, with the middle prong being all white and the tips of the left and right prongs being red and blue respectively.
"A Togekiss?"
Basalt's eyebrow shot up. This was an extremely rare Pokémon, almost on par with Lucario.
Unfortunately, rarity didn't win battles.
The elegant Togekiss had just appeared, and before it could even show off its charm, it took a massive hit.
First came the super-effective Stealth Rock, and then the poison-laced Sandstorm.
In an instant, Togekiss had not only lost a good chunk of its health but was also badly poisoned. It was practically down for the count before the fight even began.
"Looks like Basalt has won again."

Basalt's eyes were bloodshot, and he clenched his fists.
