Chapter 42 - Chapter 42

Now that we have Usopp on our crew, the only two people left for me to recruit before I leave the East Blue are Nami and Sanji. I decided Sanji would be the last member I recruited, so the next is Nami. The problem with looking for Nami is that I don't know where she is right now. She was robbing pirates to gather a hundred million berries to repurchase the village from Arlong and his crew, so even if I were to go to Cocoyashi village, there's a good chance I might not find her man, what a drag! At least I know for a fact she's still in the East Blue.

"Captain, you still didn't tell me about our next heading?"

"Well, Alvida, we are going to the legendary treasure island."

"Legendary treasure island? You don't mean the island of rare animals."

"Yeah, that's right."

"The Legendary Treasure Island, huh? I heard stories about it back in Syrup Village. They say if you're dumb enough to sail close to the island, incur a god's wrath."

"Yeah, that's right, Usopp, now let's go to Treasure Island."

"Why are we going there, Captain? To find treasures?"

"No, it just happens to be the closest island around, so I feel like visiting there."

Well, I remember in the anime, there was a guy who was in a box. I think he was called Gaimon. He was a pirate about seventeen years ago and fell into an empty treasure chest while calling for his crew members when he found more chests on top of a hill. That's one of the reasons I don't want more than twenty people in my crew. I don't need any cannon fodder. He was missing from his pirate ship, and nobody noticed, or even worse, they did notice and chose not to go back and look for him.

Another sad thing is that all those treasure chests on top of that hill were empty, talk about the pain. The reason I'm going to Treasure Island is to drink with him and give him a chance to join my crew, as Luffy did. I don't think he'll join, but hopefully he will. A guy like that is just like Zenny the moneylender, who considers the goat his precious treasure. Still, unlike Zenny the moneylender, who was getting ready to be a pirate, Gaimon is already a pirate, and he has no aspiration to be a pirate captain; he would bring a new type of energy to the crew.

"Hey Ace."

"What's going on, Alvida?"

Alvida points her finger on the map of the sea between Syrup village and Treasure Island and says

"We're around here if the weather doesn't change; we should be there around evening."

"Cool, hey, keep me posted if something changes. I'm going for a swim."

When you don't compare her to Nami, Alvida has good navigational skills. I wouldn't be surprised if she were the navigator of her ship before Luffy punched her off. Now, enough about Alvida, let me swim like planned before we hit the bad weather off the coast of Treasure Island.

Splash

"Hey Alvida, tell me something, does the Captain usually swim that long? It's been about forty-five minutes, and he's still in the sea swimming."

"Yeah, sometimes it takes him hours before he finishes swimming; it's his type of training."

"That's training for him, is he insane?"

"I don't know, but he said these types of training give him an edge on his peers and people around the same level of strength that he has, so that I wouldn't worry about him. If I were you, to be honest, I think it's his way of training and preparing for when we go to the grandline, so that we could be ready."
