Chapter 147 - Chapter 141: The Supreme Parasite — Another Divine Creature!

As the screen faded to black, everyone watching was left with mixed emotions.

This time, the mission wasn't about containing an anomaly or investigating a Foundation project.

Most of it was simply Dr. Kondraki's narration—a tragic story that had peeled back the curtain on the truth behind SCP-166 and Dr. Clef.

Yet, even without action or horror, the revelations left everyone deeply shaken.

Just as the audience was still reeling, the picture began to fade back in.

Time had clearly passed.

Leon Lake was back at Site-17, sitting in his laboratory, jotting down notes when—

Knock, knock, knock.

"Come in," he said calmly.

Click… click… click.

The sharp, deliberate rhythm of high heels echoed against the floor.

Leon looked up and his eyes flashed slightly. The visitor was someone he hadn't seen in a while—

O5-10, one of the Overseers of the Foundation's mysterious O5 Council.

She walked forward with her usual icy composure and sat across from him.

"Dr. Lake," she said evenly, "what did you give SCP-166 on Clef's behalf?"

Leon didn't even look up from his notes.

"A letter," he replied casually.

The Overseer's eyes narrowed. "You violated Foundation protocol."

Leon finally raised his head, meeting her gaze.

"So?"

"…"

For a moment, the Overseer was speechless. She exhaled slowly, gathering her composure.

"Don't forget," she said coldly, "the promise you made before."

At that, everyone watching the livestream froze.

> "Promise?"

"Wait—what promise?"

Even S.H.I.E.L.D. agents exchanged puzzled glances.

> "Hold up—did Leon promise her something?"

"You think there's something going on between them?"

"The Ice Queen Overseer and the Genius Doctor… sounds like a soap opera already."

Natasha Romanoff rolled her eyes. "You guys have way too much free time."

Nick Fury ignored the jokes. His mind was already racing.

Promise…

Where had he heard that before?

Suddenly, it hit him. His expression turned serious.

"The Rebirth Plan," he muttered under his breath.

---

On-screen, Leon calmly replied,

"It's not time for the Rebirth Plan yet."

The Overseer paused, caught off guard.

Then she exhaled through her nose, straightened her back, and said coldly,

"The preparation stage is nearly complete."

She placed a classified folder on his desk.

Leon frowned slightly and picked it up.

The live chat immediately exploded.

> "A new SCP project?!"

"Top secret level—look at that folder!"

The title appeared on-screen:

---

[Project Name: Parasite of the High Sky]

[Item #: SCP-3396]

[Security Clearance: Level 5 — Top Secret]

[Containment Class: ESOTERIC]

[Secondary Designation: TIAMAT]

[Disruption Level: AMIDA]

[Risk Level: CRITICAL]

---

Inside S.H.I.E.L.D., every agent stared at the file in stunned silence.

"What… the hell is this classification?" Natasha murmured. "I've never seen anything like that."

Nick Fury's brow furrowed.

"Because this file came directly from the O5 Council," he said grimly.

"Level 5 top-secret clearance. The last time we saw that… was SCP-2317."

That made everyone tense immediately.

> "SCP-2317… the Devourer of Worlds?"

"You're kidding—this is on that level?"

Fury's eyes stayed glued to the screen.

Could SCP-3396 really be as dangerous as the Crimson King or the Devourer of Worlds?

---

Kamar-Taj

The Ancient One's expression darkened as she read the title.

"'Parasite of the High Sky'… No. Could it be—?"

As Sorcerer Supreme, she had seen countless cosmic beings: Celestials, Abstract Entities, and even dimensional gods.

If this containment required O5-level secrecy, it could only mean one thing—

this anomaly was on a divine scale.

Her face grew grim.

---

The Observer Dimension

Far across the galaxy, Uatu the Watcher stared at the words on the light screen.

"Supreme Sky Parasite… parasitism?" he muttered thoughtfully.

Then his eyes widened.

"Could it be… a parasite that feeds on a god?"

A terrifying possibility flashed through his mind—

the Dark God Knull, creator of the Symbiotes.

Those parasitic organisms fused with hosts, granting them immense power.

Uatu's tone grew tense.

"What kind of being could they possibly call the Supreme Parasite?"

---

Back on-screen, new data appeared.

---

[Strategic Protocol:]

Due to the physical and abstract infectious properties of SCP-3396, full containment has not yet been achieved.

[Central Zone:]

SCP-3396's primary location is designated Zone-3396.

It is currently contested by multiple global organizations—including the Global Occult Coalition (GOC), the Serpent's Hand, and the Unusual Incidents Unit.

To prevent a potential world war and veil-collapse event, Zone-3396 has been declared a neutral, demilitarized area under multilateral agreement.

[Containment Directive:]

Capture and containment of all SCP-3396-01 instances is a top Foundation priority.

All specimens are to be housed in Class-4 Hazardous Bio-Containment Chambers, reinforced with Atlas-type anti-thaumaturgic rune arrays.

[Infection Threshold:]

If global infection exceeds 15%, activate Document 3396-ALAFARABITE, outlining emergency evacuation procedures, regional quarantine sites, and new Foundation priorities.

---

The livestream chat went silent.

> "Wait… global infection?"

"You're telling me it's contagious?"

"This thing caused multiple organizations to fight over it?"

"15% infection threshold? That's billions of people!"

Even S.H.I.E.L.D. agents looked shaken.

"What is this thing?" Natasha asked quietly.

"A virus? A god? Both?"

---

[Description:]

SCP-3396 is a Type IV extradimensional entity, existing as both a physical and abstract symbiotic organism.

It induces mutation and infection across biological and conceptual levels.

Current global infection rate: 6%.

---

Every agent froze.

"Six percent of the entire world?" Natasha whispered. "That's… hundreds of millions infected."

Fury's frown deepened.

That wasn't an outbreak. That was a planetary takeover.

---

[Location:]

SCP-3396's central hub lies 75 kilometers southeast of Death Valley, in the Mojave Desert.

It appears as an immense structure resembling both a tree and an insect hive,

with the largest formation reaching 27 meters in height and 23 meters in width.

Its color shifts between blue and green—or appears differently depending on the observer.

The trunk and branches release a glowing, bioluminescent fluid that gathers in a shallow pool at its base.

SCP-3396 is semi-tangible, unable to interact directly with physical matter or radiation.

Non-thaumaturgic testing and observation are impossible.

---

The audience gasped.

> "That's not a parasite—that's a biological god!"

"It's alive, but intangible?"

"So… what happens if you touch it?"

---

[Effects of Exposure:]

Direct contact with SCP-3396 or its secretions triggers massive physical and metaphysical mutations.

Affected organisms (classified SCP-3396-01) develop extra organs and tissues of unknown function.

These growths emit faint blue-green light and can shift or move internally.

They cannot be removed by surgery—

because they don't interact with ordinary matter at all.

---

The entire chat exploded.

> "WHAT?! You just touch it and mutate?!"

"So it's like cancer—but cosmic!"

"That's horrifying…"

Even the Ancient One frowned, her expression conflicted.

"If it were merely a biological infection," she murmured, "the O5 Council wouldn't panic like this."

Her gaze sharpened.

"There's something divine hidden beneath this 'parasite'."

---

On-screen, Leon slowly put the file down.

"So," he said, "has the Foundation managed to capture any SCP-3396-01 subjects?"

"Yes," the Overseer replied coolly. "In fact, we created some ourselves—intentionally."

Leon's eyes narrowed. "You what?"

Even the livestream erupted.

> "They caused the infection on purpose?!"

"The Foundation has lost its mind!"

Leon stayed silent for a moment, then asked evenly, "What were the results?"

The Overseer took a deep breath.

"We started with a male bearded dragon. We applied a single drop of SCP-3396's secretions to its head."

She paused.

"Within three hours, its size and mass increased exponentially—length, twenty-five meters; weight, five thousand kilograms."

The agents' jaws dropped.

Natasha blurted, "That's not a lizard anymore—that's Godzilla!"

The Overseer continued:

"Its skin became translucent, variegated in color, and covered in dorsal pores releasing spores and poisonous gases.

It entered a lethargic state, unresponsive to external stimuli.

Samples revealed hybrid DNA—part reptile, part fungus—similar to Amanita phalloides and Claviceps purpurea."

Her voice fell silent.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents exchanged horrified looks.

A small desert lizard… turned into a mythic abomination within hours.
