Irene
I place my hands on my waist, checking everything I just cooked. Recently, I've been trying to cook Kael to fit more in his "girlfriend" title.
My mouth twitches into a smile, "He's got to like it," I chuckle.
Just then, the sound of the door being opened grabs my attention. I rush outside the kitchen to welcome him.
"Welcome back," I flash him a bright smile.
He just mumbles a response, and brushes past me.
My chest contorts at this strange behaviour of his but I immediately wave it off.
"What's the matter?" I ask, hoping he'd at least say what happened to him.
He just shrugs, "Everything is fine," he goes up the stairs.
"Will you come back down for dinner?" I half yell after him.
He shakes his head, "Had something at Lucien's, don't bother."
A pang hits me in the chest at how dismissive that sounded, almost like he was irritated with me or something.
