She watched helplessly as war tore her country apart and her people suffered endlessly.
Unable to endure it any longer, Kaguya shattered the unspoken rule that had governed the continent for thousands of years.
She consumed the fruit of the God Tree.
From that moment on, Kaguya gained a power never before seen in the world—chakra.
With chakra, she unified the entire continent and was worshipped as a god. Though everyone knew the source of her power, no one dared oppose her.
The reason was simple.
Strength.
After peace was established, the world entered an era of stability. During this time, Kaguya gave birth to two sons: Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo and Ōtsutsuki Hamura.
Both were born with chakra, inheriting their mother's power.
As the years passed, the brothers grew stronger—so strong that they nearly reached Kaguya's own level.
Seeing this, Kaguya believed that even after her eventual passing, the world would never again fall into endless war.

In the end, with the aid of her two sons, the Ten-Tails was finally subdued and sealed within Kaguya herself.

It could be said that Kaguya was the God Tree—and the God Tree was Kaguya.
After merging the power of the fruit with that of the Ten-Tails, Kaguya became vastly stronger—far surpassing even her sons.
But there was a price.
The power of the God Tree was not something she could fully assimilate.
Though born of the same origin, the will of the God Tree and Kaguya's own consciousness were not identical. As a result, the two began to clash relentlessly within her body, each struggling for control.
A battle not of flesh—but of will—had begun.
In the end, the will of the God Tree gained the upper hand.
Its consciousness gradually overwhelmed Ōtsutsuki Kaguya's own thoughts, and the resentment it harbored toward humanity completely corrupted her heart. Once the God Tree's hatred took root within her, Kaguya could no longer turn back.
Influenced by the God Tree, Kaguya inherited its rage toward mankind and began to exact merciless retribution. The world, which had only just known peace, was once again plunged into suffering.
Kaguya's power was simply too overwhelming.
Even her own sons—Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo and Ōtsutsuki Hamura—were no match for her at that time.
In order to resist their mother's wrath, Hagoromo and Hamura made a decisive choice.
They spread the method of chakra cultivation across the continent, allowing humanity to learn and wield chakra for themselves. Only by empowering mankind could they hope to stand against Kaguya.
After humans gained chakra, many awakened unique abilities due to bloodline inheritance—thus giving rise to what would later be known as Kekkei Genkai.
After consuming the fruit of the God Tree, Kaguya not only obtained chakra but also awakened her own dōjutsu.
Later, after sealing the God Tree and the Ten-Tails within herself, she gained an even greater power—the Rinne Sharingan, also known as the Eye of the Moon.
Her two sons inherited aspects of this power.
Hagoromo inherited chakra-based ocular power related to the Ten-Tails, awakening the Sharingan.
Hamura inherited his mother's bloodline directly, awakening the Byakugan.
