Selene's POV~
For a moment, I could not move.
I stood there, frozen, as the great Lycan… my father… fell to his knees as if the weight of the world had finally crushed him.
I thought… I truly thought it was because he had realized I was not his daughter. That disappointment had broken him. That I had been nothing more than a cruel joke standing in front of him.
But then he spoke.
"You look so much like her…"
"Her."
The way he said that word, like it was sacred, like it was bleeding him dry, confused me more than anything else. I did not understand who she was, or why his voice trembled as if saying her name would end him. I only saw a grown man, powerful and terrifying, breaking apart in front of me.
Tears slipped down his face.
And somehow, that hurt more than all the cruelty I had ever endured.
