Ms. Amy sat down behind her desk and leaned back on her chair, looking at the other three people who were now standing inside her office.
Mr. Lewis had a worried expression on his face, while Jessica seemed quite unhappy with the current situation. As for Andrew, he just maintained a calm composure, his blue eyes never leaving the beauty sitting in front of him.
"Okay, let me get to the point now that we're here." Ms. Amy started talking in a professional tone. "Jessica has stated her wish to have her brother as her manager. Since she has the right to decide, then you, Mr. Lewis, can't really do anything about it."
Before Mr. Lewis could respond, Ms. Amy raised her hand to stop him from speaking and then added, "I know that you're against this because you think that Jessica isn't making the right choice."
She paused for a second and shifted her gaze towards Andrew, observing him thoroughly from head to toe. Then her attention moved on to Jessica, and she continued, "So, let me ask you this question, Jessica. If we allow your brother to be your manager, what guarantee can you give us that he won't ruin your future as a model or cause problems with our clients?"
"My brother is a top student in his university." Jessica answered without hesitation. "And not just that, he already managed to make a lot of money by himself. That should be enough of a guarantee that he's competent enough to fulfill whatever it is that needs to be done in his job as my manager."
"Really? What can you say about that, Mr. Andrew? Can you guarantee me that you won't fail in your duty as a manager?" Ms. Amy asked in a serious tone. Her expression made it clear to Andrew that she wasn't going to accept any flimsy words from him.
Andrew smiled at her words before replying confidently, "Yes, I do guarantee that. Jessica's career has always been important to me. So there's no way that I would ever do anything to ruin her future. Moreover, it's not like I need to learn rocket science to manage her career; I just need to ensure that she makes all her appointments on time and that the clients are satisfied with her work."
After hearing this, Ms. Amy narrowed her eyes at Andrew and stared at him for a while without speaking. Andrew returned the gaze without blinking once. Neither of them wanted to give in to the other and show any weakness.
Finally, Ms. Amy spoke once again after what seemed to be an eternity of staring contest between them. "Alright, I'll take your word for it and give you a chance to prove yourself. However, if there's even the slightest incident where your carelessness causes a problem with the agency's clients or makes it difficult for Jessica to fulfill her obligations, then I'll have no choice but to replace you and put someone else who would be more reliable as Jessica's manager. Do you understand?"
"That's fine with me." Andrew replied without hesitating at all.
"Wait!" Mr. Lewis interrupted the conversation between Amy and Andrew. "Ms. Amy, are you serious about this? Why are you even considering his request? It..."
He was about to continue speaking, but Ms. Amy stood up from her chair and interrupted him in mid-sentence.
"Enough." Ms. Amy said sharply. "What part of 'it's Jessica's decision' do you not understand? And since I've already agreed to it, then there's nothing more for us to discuss. You should hand all the files and documents related to Jessica to her brother right away. I trust that you won't cause any problems in this matter. Now, I remember that there was a reshoot for a magazine, isn't that right? So, let's get going."
Seeing that he couldn't get anything else from Amy, Mr. Lewis sighed in defeat as he lowered his head, looking like he just lost a battle. Then, he nodded weakly, turned around, and left the office in silence.
However, just as he was about to leave, he stopped and turned to look back at Jessica before saying, "I hope you know what you're doing, Jessica."
"She does, old man. Now go get what I need from you so I can start doing my job," Andrew said with a mocking smile while staring straight into the eyes of Jessica's ex-manager.
"Why you—" Mr. Lewis gritted his teeth and almost shouted at Andrew, but a stern look from Amy made him pause.
The man bit his lips to control his anger and walked away in a hurry.
Once he was gone, Amy moved towards Andrew and offered him her hand, which he gladly took. "Welcome to Dream Model Agency. I hope you live up to the expectations that you set for yourself. As for the matter related to Mr. Lewis' salary and benefits till now, I believe that there won't be any problem from Jessica's side."
Andrew nodded at Amy, showing that he understood what she said. "Don't worry. I won't disappoint you. And regarding Mr. Lewis, everything will be dealt with appropriately. You can be rest assured of that."
Amy smiled and then said to Jessica, "And, Jessica, I hope that you'll continue giving your best to make us proud and satisfied with your work."
"Of course! I always put my all into my job, so don't worry!" Jessica giggled, and her eyes brightened with a glint of happiness.
Now she wouldn't have to worry about anything anymore. Not only would her brother, whom she could trust, take care of all the managerial work, but she also wouldn't have to deal with a manipulative man anymore. Everything seemed perfect to Jessica.
With everything settled, the two siblings left the office while Amy sat back in her chair behind the desk. She reached up to caress her chin, deep in thought.
"I wonder how well this will end. I'm sure that it'll be an interesting thing to watch," Amy mused as she watched the door close behind Andrew and Jessica.
