CHAPTER 00025
Akar scurried to his feet, keeping his head tilted upward, unable to look away from the bizzare sight. Obviously, having grown up in a small village, all of this was new to him, but an island suspended by what appeared to be absolutely nothing at all was not something he expected to see today.
He finally broke the daze, now excitedly scanning the surrounding area to see if there was a tree or something he could use to get himself up to the island.
To his far right, he saw an enormous oak that nearly rose to the height of the island, so he dashed towards it immediately.
Thrusting his katanas into the bark, Akar utilized his swords to scale the tree, pulling and poking as he worked his way up.
As he neared the top, it became apparent that the tree did not in fact reach the island all the way. Akar needed to think up a solution.
A long but extremely thin branch shot off the tree in the direction of the island. Akar had an idea, but it was a long shot. Regardless, that phrase was not in his vocabulary.
Akar ran along the branch, jumping and flipping through the air as he reached the end. He landed at the tip, hearing a snapping sound as the branch loosened. Jumping off of it with all his might, Akar flung out his katanas to stab into the crumbling dirt underside of the island, catching himself as the tree branch at last cracked off and crumbled to the ground beneath him.
Mimicking the way he climbed up the tree previously, Akar worked his way outward along the underside of the island as he drew nearer to the top. Finally, he rolled onto the grassy surface, discovering what seemed to be an agricultural settlement with multiple farms and a small hut.
