As my words fell, I saw that the people present all had weird expressions on their faces as they looked at each other, then they looked at the family head who was currently seeming to want a hole to crawl in and hide himself out of embarrassment or maybe something else .
Then they all collectively looked at King Devo, all including me was wondering the same, what will the already at brink of death door due to old injuries king say, the guy seemed to completely shocked by the daring statement that I made and his expression was a mix of colors .
I thought that finally, this will be the straw that will break the camel's back and will leave him no other choice but to attack me, I didn't gave him any kind of respect with my words or actions, that was obvious to me and him, everyone here too were able to see this, so what now, what will he try to do ? .
You are playing a quite dangerous game here Callen Loon, you have to remember that the family you want to destroy and make it a vessel to your family, have some very good ties with this King here, not to mention that their family head is a Ruler Rank Demon like you and he is known for being vengeful and ruthless as well, I can still try to me... .

As I said this, all the attention was directed ar the other side of the room, far from being focused on me as before, something that I was able to notice more clearly now, those two winged girls beside me hadn't had shifted their attention much of me for some quite long time, looking at me with some quite weird looks, that I was still unable to understand the meaning behind those looks .
A few more seconds ticked away and yet, there was still no response from King Devo to any of the things that I requested from him, he neither gave me his approval and gave the green light nor did he give me his blessings, he kept sitting on his original place, staring daggers at me, but from how calm his demeanor was, I can already tell that it seemed no fighting will be happening today .
Without giving me an answer, he shifted the subject slightly and as if he hadn't even heard my request or ignored them on purpose, he then directly said :
Now into another important subject that the Emperor had mentioned in his last decree, its about the war with the Beastfolk, his Majesty is declaring his dissatisfaction with how we are progressing in this war and asked us to at least be able to create another city before the next decree he will send .
He directly shifted the topic we were still talking about to yet another subject without replaying to me at all, but I can't help but be surprised a little at how cunning he was, he was already able to tell that I might press him for an answer, so not only he had changed the topic of conversation .
No, he even used the Demon Emperor name, so that he can focus the attention of all people present back and to make them completely focused on other matters and his move was indeed was successfully able to do this, not only it made all the people focus back on him, but it reminded some of the people who already seemed to have become fearful of me that I wasn't the biggest fish in the sea .
Those who thought like that and who was able to steady their hearts again using that thought was indeed right in coming to this thought and conclusion, but even though they might be right about me not being the biggest fish in the sea, they should have reminded themselves, that I was currently and undisputably the biggest fish in this current tank .
That second thought made the other part of people seem a bit conflicated about who shall they support, but it seemed that this conflict of theirs will continue to go on for a long time, but this was a good news for me and what I was trying to achieve nonetheless .
After the King had said this, I was able to notice that those guys were actually had quite the bad expressions on their faces, the reason was simple to understand, the Demon Emperor's concerns were quite real .
The Demons together with the Monsters as they currently are, were actually struggling to fight the Beastfolk, not only that, but other than the few kidnappings that kept on happening from the raids that the Demon race was able to pull off, there was the possibility that the Demon race being the one that was actually on a disadvantage in this world .
After all the lands that they were trying to conquer were technically still under the Shard's Will and Influence, meaning that the Demons can only at most use Battle Aura to fight in those areas, making them lose the advantage they have in fighting over there in the battlefield .
There were still a few advantages that the Demons should have over the Beastfolk like the physical strength, stamina perhaps, that I was able to have a taste of myself, other than being weakened by the severe loss in Mana while I'm in the Demon Form .
I hadn't even felt hungry for some time now, there were also the many different weird abilities and powers that could be used without the Shard being able to make sense of them, not to mention the huge advantage of being able to flight, I really wonder how the Beastfolk was dealing with such a grave aerial threat like an enemy that can fly .
Yet surprisingly and even though the Demons should still have an advantage over Beastfolk like this, the latter seem to actually being able to beat the first and force it to retreat, I was actually beginning to believe that if it weren't for the existence of those reinforcement that came to support the Demon lines from time to time, they would have actually won the war against Demons .
This was my honest opinion after seeing the grave expression on all the people present faces, what made things even more crazier was the fact that even after the King said this, for over than 5 minutes, there was only silence in the Hall we were in, all those guys were unable to come up with a reason or an excuse for why they were being beaten like that by the Beastfolk .
Both were competing using Battle Aura, yet it seemed the superior side in using it was the Beastfolk, seeing that even after a few more minutes have passed, there was no one who was still willing to say anything, the King knocked hard on the table, but only a few people were that much startled by this, others just looked calmly at the King and wondered what he was about to say .
The King frowned at seeing their reaction and seem that something else was going on suddenly in his mind, he opened his mouth, but not a single word came out for a few seconds, he too seemed to have been startled by something .
After a few seconds more wasted, his mouth that seemed to have gotten drained of words, suddenly seemed to have found what he was trying to say but couldn't just now, he said :
So can I understand from your expressions that you have already lost all hope in succeeding in the mission that was assigned to you by the Demon Emperor, you shouldn't have already forgotten what you cane here originally for after your bellies had gotten fatter from eating all those resources, have you ? .
The moment his words fell into the ears of all people present, only few that had lowered their heads of shame of showing their faces, but the majority of the people present were actually furious at him saying that out loud, some even spared no cautious in glaring at him directly, I was only a spectator here .
I hadn't had the tiniest idea of what was actually going on here and why were they so aggressive in their reactions like this, but I was certain that whatever the reasons were, they would soon come to light and my guess was indeed right, one of the guys who were angry, a guy that looked like a zombie due to his very pale complexion said :
I hope that his Majesty didn't forget, how many of our families members had fallen since this battle had started, I don't think that it was eligible to be throwing such an inconsiderate comment like that .
Wow, that was my honest reaction at this guy lashing out like that, he gave the King no face at all and directly berated him for diminishing the role of the 13 Founding Families and how many of their members have they already lost, it seemed that I was still underestimating how much the Demon valued the lives of their fellow Demons .
I also couldn't help but wonder about how would the King react to this, my waiting didn't continued for long, as the the King heard the berating tone of that zombie like guy, he pointed at him with one finger and said quietly :
Is this the way you talk to your King, kneel .
What was even more weird was the fact that this guy who was lashing out just now, did actually complied to the order and directly kneeled down, even though his expression laced with indignation as if he was being forced to kneel by not the strength of the King himself, but some other force was at work here, it was that force that made him act like this .
I was able to clearly understand that from the weird expressions that were on all the faces of the people present, it was a weird thing, but I remember that Ludo seemed to have told me earlier about the fact that the human families that were enslaved by the Demons, were enslaved by agreeing to a contract with the Demons .
Could the same have been done here as well, I can't rule this out, after all there were indeed some clear signs now right in front of me of at least this happening or something similar to it being at work here, from the expressions on most of the guys present, I was able to see that they were all displeased at this, but none of them dared to actually say a word .
For some reason after he did this, he gave me a look that seemed to imply ' look, you would never reach my level ',that was how I interpreted the weird look he was giving me, I didn't understand why would be be doing something like that to show his superiority to me .
I without much sweat still believe that I'm able to take him and those that were present here all by myself, so it really didn't matter to me much how many was he able to attack me with, this was how much confidence, I currently had in my strength .
I looked left and right as if trying to anger him a bit more and it seemed that I have indeed succeeded in doing this, I saw him gritting his teeth and he said :
You all need to think seriously about your actions from this moment onward, you know more than I do how impatient the Demon Emperor is about the results of this operation, so any of you who won't be doing their role perfectly can say that directly and he will be exempted from even needing to return back to the Real World, I hope you all are clear about that .
The family heads gathered together with their companions all looked grim at this being mentioned and they nodded their head, one after the other, even the family head was no different and the two ladies beside me .
But I just shook my head at how effective that threat was and remembered Ludo's words about how many of the Demon race members only wanting to go back home and were being forced to come here, but it seemed that due to still sitting in the Levern Family chair, the King arched his eyebrow at me and said :
Are my words being found unsatisfactory by you, Young Callen ? .
" Umm, no , I think I'm just wondering if the King had already some plan on mind that could help us Demon achieve victory this time, as I was getting into the city .
" I was hearing some monsters talk about how those last battles results had become quite unsatisfactory and most of those guys were ridiculing the fact that not one positive results came in favor of the Demon race .
" Some were even saying that the battles results were like this even though the opponents were on the defensive and if they were to pick going on the offensive, they might kill all the Demons and destroying the city .
