"White Zetsu, do you want to live, or do you want to die?"

Kitazawa turned toward White Zetsu, his tone calm.

"I want to live!"

White Zetsu answered without the slightest hesitation.

On the surface, it was a creature created by Uchiha Madara using the Gedo Statue's power and Hashirama's cells.

In truth, however, it was born from humans who had fallen to the Infinite Tsukuyomi in ancient times—simply put, a byproduct of the God Tree.

It was neither loyal to Black Zetsu nor to Uchiha Madara, and it had no intention of dying alongside them. But with Black Zetsu captured and Uchiha Madara unable to be resurrected, White Zetsu had no choice but to submit to Kitazawa.

"You're quite valuable. As long as you follow my orders, I won't kill you.

Kitazawa smiled and gave his guarantee.

White Zetsu's greatest value lay in intelligence gathering.

Its concealment ability was absurdly strong; fewer than three people in the entire ninja world could sense it.

Kitazawa planned to place it in the Anbu.

With that, Konoha could grasp intel from across the whole ninja world.

Of course, White Zetsu's uses didn't end there.

For one, using it as a sacrifice in Edo Tensei would allow summoned ninjas to manifest power far closer to their strength in life.

There were also special White Zetsu that could possess other shinobi and greatly boost their abilities.

In the original story, the prime example was Tenzo.

After being possessed by White Zetsu, his Wood Release skyrocketed. While still inferior to Hashirama, he became a top-tier powerhouse in the ninja world.

White Zetsu also had considerable healing capabilities.

Even someone like Obito, with half his body gone, could be saved by it.

Even if White Zetsu refused to submit, Kitazawa could simply control it with the Rinnegan.

Its utility was simply too great.

"This is a Flying Thunder God mark."

Kitazawa stepped forward, patted White Zetsu on the shoulder, and said, "No matter where you are, I can find you."

"I understand!"

White Zetsu replied readily.

"Nagato, I'll send you to Konoha first," Kitazawa said after a pause. "I'm going to meet that 'Uchiha Madara'."

"Who is he?" Nagato asked curiously.

"A pawn chosen by Uchiha Madara," Kitazawa replied.

"I see."

Nagato nodded.

"This is for you."

Kitazawa took out a scroll and handed it over.

"Edo Tensei?"

Nagato glanced at the label, confused. "You want me to summon someone?"

"Summon Uchiha Madara," Kitazawa explained. "There are some truths that you might not believe if they come from me, so I'll have Madara tell you himself."

"No need; I already believe what you said."

Nagato shook his head.

"What I said before wasn't everything," Kitazawa reminded him. "For example, the truth behind your parents' deaths."

"What did you say?"

Nagato's head snapped up.

"To Uchiha Madara, someone like you—blinded by hatred—was the easiest to control," Kitazawa said matter-of-factly.

Nagato fell into a heavy silence.

"As for the details, once you've learned Edo Tensei, ask Madara yourself."

Not wasting words, Kitazawa stored Madara's corpse, grabbed Nagato's shoulder, and activated the Flying Thunder God.

At that moment, in front of the Forest of Death—

The Gedo Statue and the thousand-armed buddha had both vanished, but the scars they left remained.

The entire ground was torn and cratered; what had been flat plains now resembled rough, jagged highlands.

For now, no one had the leisure to care about the altered terrain.

Tsunade and the others were all waiting for Kitazawa.

Judging from the outcome, Nagato had lost. But the Akatsuki could still have other moves prepared.

Just then, Kitazawa and Nagato appeared in front of them.

"Kitazawa!"

Tsunade hurried over, grabbed his wrist, and asked, "How are you?"

Kurenai arrived a step slower, startled by Tsunade's urgency.

"I'm fine," Kitazawa said with a shake of his head.

"That's good."

Tsunade snapped back to herself and quickly released his hand, her expression returning to normal.

"Are you Nagato?"

Jiraiya stared at the drastically changed Nagato, almost unable to recognize him.

"Jiraiya-sensei, long time no see," Nagato replied after a moment's silence.

"You guys talk first. I still have one more thing to take care of.

Kitazawa was naturally referring to Obito.

Earlier, after catching up to Zetsu and Obito and seeing them split up, he had gone after Zetsu directly.

Now, Obito and Konan were still at the hideout where Nagato's original body had been. If he delayed any longer, Konan could be in danger.

Before anyone could ask more, Kitazawa disappeared.

---

"What's going on?"

Obito stood in place, a bad feeling rising in his chest.

Kitazawa, who should've appeared quickly, still hadn't shown himself.

Konan remained silent at her side, his gaze cold as she stared into the distance.

"We're leaving now!"

Obito no longer hesitated. "Kitazawa has the Flying Thunder God Technique. He might have already gone after Zetsu and Nagato."

The moment he finished speaking, his body suddenly went rigid. An unprecedented sense of crisis washed over him.

Obito instinctively looked down.

Two blades were protruding from his chest.

One of them had pierced straight through his heart.

He turned his head and saw Kitazawa.

In an instant, he understood—there was a Flying Thunder God mark on his body.

It must have been left when Kitazawa grabbed his wrist during the previous sneak attack.

Obito opened his mouth to speak, but blood poured out instead.

With a twist of his wrist, Kitazawa crushed his heart.

He casually withdrew Kiba and Zangetsu.

Obito's body swayed twice, then collapsed to the ground.

"This is called returning the favor," Kitazawa said with a faint smile.

Obito had ambushed him once; now he'd simply returned it. They were even.

"Kitazawa!"

Konan finally reacted and instinctively walked toward him.

"Nagato has already been sent to Konoha by me," Kitazawa said as he reached out and pinched her cheek.

"Thank you," Konan exhaled in relief.

"Why thank me? You're going to join Konoha too," Kitazawa said with a smile.

"Mm."

Konan recalled his earlier words.

From now on, she would join the Anbu and guard him up close.

Just thinking about it made her body feel a bit hot.

With her understanding of Kitazawa, he would almost certainly torment her to the point of exhaustion.

But she wasn't afraid. If anything… She was looking forward to it.

"He's already dead. Let's go."

Kitazawa glanced at Obito's corpse.

Konan didn't think much of it and nodded.

Kitazawa took her hand and activated the Flying Thunder God.

In the blink of an eye, they appeared behind a large boulder some distance away.

Konan looked at him in confusion.

Didn't he say they were going back to Konoha?

"Shh."

Kitazawa pressed his index finger lightly against her soft lips. "Wait ten minutes."

Obito's Izanagi lasted exactly ten minutes.

In the original story, one of his Mangekyo Sharingan had been given to Kakashi.

Although he hadn't taken it back after becoming "Uchiha Madara," he'd installed another Three-Tomoe Sharingan in its place.

The price of Izanagi was the blindness of a three-tomoe Sharingan.

In other words, Obito could only use Izanagi once.

Ten minutes passed quickly.

Obito's "corpse" suddenly twitched.

The two puncture wounds in his body knit together at a bizarre speed, as if they had never existed.

His destroyed heart began beating again.

Obito suddenly sat up.

The instant he regained consciousness, he immediately activated Kamui.

A heartbeat later, two blades swept through where his body had been.

But thanks to his timely intangibility, they passed harmlessly through.

"You've gotten a little smarter," Kitazawa chuckled.

"You… how do you know about Izanagi?" Obito asked, horrified.

"Why wouldn't I know?" Kitazawa replied casually. "I am the Sixth Hokage, after all."

Obito's expression darkened.

There was anger and resentment, but more than anything, there was panic.

Kitazawa had already locked onto him.

The most troublesome part was that he couldn't defeat Kitazawa, nor could he erase the Flying Thunder God mark from his body.

Obito's expression shifted uncertainly.

Was his only option… to run?

His intangibility lasted five minutes. That should be enough to escape Kitazawa's reach.

On top of that, thanks to White Zetsu and Hashirama's cells, his Kamui's cooldown wasn't very long.

As long as Kitazawa didn't attack him continuously, he'd have chances to catch his breath and activate Kamui again.

The only problem was that he didn't know how far Kitazawa could sense a Flying Thunder God mark.

If he couldn't leave that range, he was still dead.

In other words, he had to gamble.

Obito clenched his fists.

He never imagined he'd fall to such a pathetic state.

Ever since awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan, he had come and gone as he pleased, free and unrestrained.

The only time he'd stumbled was against Namikaze Minato.

But the pressure Kitazawa exerted now far surpassed Minato's.
