Chapter 26 - Kazuma and Preparing for the Trip

He went to the small hospital, which had a large, medieval-style lens window.

The man had wavy black hair and small, almost black eyes. His face was commanding, and his muscles were like those of a fighter. His nose was prominent, neither short nor long. This man was wearing his coat and scarf and exiting the hospital door.

He saw Kazuma arrive from the dark road, the area behind him still dark.

The Man: (In surprise)

Kazuma?

Kazuma was covered in mud and breathing heavily. Rainwater was dripping from his wet hair and face. His face was wet and stained with some mud. Kazuma was walking heavily, seemingly unable to recover quickly.

The man hurried over.

The Man: (Fearfully)

Kazuma, did Niche collapse again?

Kazuma: (Breathing heavily)

Please, Uncle Tom, save him.

Tom: (With deep concern)

Kazuma, let me carry him.

Tom carried Niche in his arms, as if he were his own son.

Niche was surrounded by iron instruments.

Kazuma was visible, his hair hanging down over his forehead, covering his eyes.

Tom rushed to fetch the doctor's medicine.

Kazuma quickly stood up, hoping for good news.

Tom: (Sighing)

Don't worry, Kazuma, he just fainted... he will regain consciousness.

Tom: (Cheerfully)

But don't worry, it's just exhaustion, and he will wake up.

Kazuma pressed his eyes shut, and tears began to well up, raining down his face.

Tom pulled Kazuma toward him and hugged him while Kazuma's eyes continued to empty their suppressed emotions.

In the family home, there was a man with a tense expression and a square face. He wore blue pajamas, sitting with his hands folded in his lap. His short hair was light black.

Kazuma sat in front of this man around a round table.

Kazuma: (Pleading)

Father, know that if it weren't for my uncle, Niche wouldn't have survived.

Uncle Tom chuckled softly.

Tom: (Embarrassed)

No, no, fate is what saved his life. I was not the reason.

Father:

Kazuma, I heard from the Elder that you will be leaving the clan tomorrow.

Kazuma: (Smiling)

I knew he wouldn't keep it a secret.

Father: (Seriously)

I heard you got into a fight with Jin.

Kazuma: (Retorting)

I was forced to do it.

Father: (Calmly)

Kazuma, you are not going outside.

Kazuma:

Why is it not allowed?

Father:

Because our clan is hated by the world... If you asked them whom they hate more, the Tenma Clan or the Devil, they would choose our clan.

Kazuma:

Why do they hate us?

Tom: (Interrupting)

Please, let him go. Niche's condition has deteriorated... Furthermore, I am going to treat King Lucy's mother, now that King Lucy has become the ruler of the Brotheria Kingdom.

Father: (Seriously)

That is your job and you must do it, but Kazuma is young and hasn't fully coped with the beasts outside.

Father to Tom.

Father:

Why exactly you? Why doesn't another doctor go?

Tom:

King Lucy's mother is sick. I am the one who knows her... and I am her official doctor, and I give her the appropriate medication.

(He holds up a syringe marked "A" filled with a clear liquid).

Kazuma:

What do you think if I go with you?

Tom:

I warn you, when I treat this man, I treat her with caution, because this man is very cruel and insane.

Tom: (Concluding his speech)

Lucy is a person with unparalleled madness in his veins.

Kazuma:

Can you change your decision, Father?

Father:

No means no.

Nakazuma: (From a distance)

Don't interfere, husband, let him go.

Father:

Kazuma will not go, I will not change my mind.

(Night came, stars shone their light across the sky, while Kazuma was with his mother in the living room).

The moonlight illuminates the room in the darkness.

Kazuma:

Why aren't you opposing, Mother?

Nakazuma:

Because you are my son, and I don't want anything to upset you.

Kazuma:

The problem is that my father will stand in my way.

Nakazuma fetches the necklace Kazuma had and puts it on him.

Nakazuma:

Take this necklace to remember me.

Kazuma takes the necklace, and we see an embrace between Nakazuma and Kazuma, where the mother sheds tears of sadness, joy, and hope all at once.

Kazuma:

Thank you, Mother.

There is a loud knock on the door.

The door opens to reveal a soaking wet Carmen, her hair also wet.

Kazuma: (His heart swelling with joy)

Carmen, it's you! Where have you been, girl?

Carmen: (Shivering)

Can I stay with you tonight?

Kazuma: (Happily)

Are you sure you want to stay the night with us?

Nakazuma: (Tilting her head to the side and smiling)

Of course, you are always welcome.

Carmen spent the night in Kazuma's room, which had two separate beds.

And the moonlight flowed through the window.

Kazuma: (Looking at the ceiling)

Carmen, do you remember where you are from?

Carmen: (She looks at him, then turns her gaze to the ground)

There is nothing, except that I was with Christo, he was crying, someone killed one of his relatives.

Kazuma:

Who is this Christo, do you know him?

Christo is a man who is 20 years old.

Kazuma:

How old are you?

Carmen: (Shyly)

I am 23 years old.

Carmen: (She smiles, her eyes narrowing and her cheeks rising from her cold smile)

Christo is a smart and brilliant man, and his tears pleased me.

Kazuma:

How can you say that to your closest friend?

Carmen:

I didn't say he was my best friend... I only know him.

Carmen:

Are you still planning to go out into the outside world?

Kazuma: (He grips the necklace pendant)

The Elder agreed, but my father refused. However, I hope my uncle has enough experience.

Carmen:

What does your uncle do?

Kazuma:

My uncle is a doctor and he told us he is going out into the world to treat King Lucy's mother.

Carmen: (Calmly)

Do you really mean Lucy, the sadistic and psychologically sick person?

Kazuma:

Do you really know him?

Carmen:

Who doesn't know Lucy and his madness? If only you knew his crimes.

Kazuma:

Then my uncle is in trouble.

Carmen:

That doesn't mean your uncle is in big trouble... unless he makes a mistake in the King's palace.

Carmen:

I'm thirsty, where is the kitchen?

Carmen was holding a large juice bottle from her bag.

Carmen: (Smiling)

I want to get a cup to drink.

Kazuma:

I'll go get the glass... I'm the owner of the house, aren't I?

Kazuma remained silent.

Then Carmen wandered in the hallway, looking for something.

She opens and then returns to the other door.

Let's return to Kazuma, who is still lying down...

Until Carmen entered carrying two cups of juice.

Carmen: (Smiling)

See? I didn't get lost.

Kazuma:

Yes, yes.

Kazuma:

Why two cups of juice?

Carmen: (Smiling innocently)

Of course, it's for both of us.

Kazuma took his cup and began to drink the juice eagerly.

Kazuma swallowed the juice with difficulty.

Kazuma:

Why does the juice taste like this?

Carmen: (Embarrassed)

Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe the juice went bad.

Kazuma:

It's okay, I already drank all of it.

Kazuma: (Smiling)

I have to go because I leave within six hours.

Carmen: (Good night and a safe journey.)
