Jay-jay's POV
I walked.
I mean, everyone walks. It's not exactly a groundbreaking achievement.
But I was a little different.
Oh, how so? You'd ask.
Well, allow me to explain—
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
"WATCH OUT, JAY!" Kristine screamed.
I barely had time to turn around before she dropped Ci-N and ran to me, pulling me out of the car's path.
My heart pounded.
My ears rang.
My vision blurred.
And then everything went black.
Apparently, nearly getting hit by a car wasn't enough drama for one day.
My body had decided to add a complimentary fainting session.
Kristine's POV
What in the world?!
I dragged her toward the wall Ci-N had been leaning against and dropped her there as carefully as I could.
Then I looked at Ci-N.
Still sleep.
Of course.
"Fuck..." I muttered, finally letting out the breath I'd been holding.
Jayjay's house was still a few hundred meters away.
I looked at Jayjay.
Then Ci-N.
Then Jayjay again.
Nope.
Absolutely not.
I am not carrying two unconscious people across the street like some underpaid ambulance service.
I tucked my hand into my pocket, pulling out my phone.
I opened contacts, searching for Keifer's number.
Calling BigFoot... The robot said.
It took a few rings before he picked up.
[Hello?]
"Have you gotten far?" I asked, picking on my fingers.
[No.. why—]
"No time for questions, come back. Right now!"
[But—]
"No buts!"
I hung up the call, patiently waiting for him.
I was over here trying to get these two home safely, and he had the audacity to question me?
I should've just said it was an emergency.
I turned back to Jayjay and crouched beside her.
"Jayjay... Jayyyyy. Please wake up."
Nothing.
"Jay. Come on on. Don't make me carry you."
Just as I was about to lose my mind, Keifer's car pulled up beside the sidewalk. He killed the engine and stepped out.
I stared at him.
Oh, finally!
"What happened?" Keifer asked, walking toward me.
"I-I don't know!" I stammered, my words practically tripping over each other. "Jayjay was walking beside me and then she—she lost her balance and almost got hit by a car!"
I pointed at her like that somehow explained everything.
"She just... fell, and then she fainted, and now I have no idea what I'm supposed to do!"
Keifer crouched beside Jayjay and gently shook her.
Still nothing.
"Should we go to a hospital?" I asked, gulping.
Keifer shook Jayjay one more time before nodding. "I'll carry Jayjay."
"But—!"
He cut me off before I could say anything else, lifting Jayjay and carrying her toward the car.
I looked down at Ci-N.
He was heavy.
There was no way I could carry him all the way there. Then I remembered how I'd gotten him this far in the first place.
I dragged him. So… I could probably drag him to the car too.
Silly Kris.
I paused.
Wait.
This was a serious situation. I needed to stop joking around.
Be serious, Kris.
Jayjay's POV
I woke up to the sound of someone snoring beside me.
Wow. How comforting.
I groaned and slowly opened my eyes, looking around.
Huh?
This wasn't home.
"Where am I?" I muttered to myself.
"Hospital."
I nearly jumped at the voice beside me.
I turned my head and found Kristine sitting there, looking like she'd been through an entire war.
"Bakit?"
She stared at me like I've been on a coma for a decade. "Because you fainted in the middle of the street."
"Oh.. I don't remember anything." I replied, looking around to find Ci-N resting his head on the bed, snoring.
Of course, he'd been asleep all the time. Making him sleep is hard, but waking him up is harder. It's like he barely sleeps but when he actually sleeps, he's in a deep coma.
I ain't lyin'.
"Where's Keifer?" I asked, turning to Kristine.
"Just went out to get some food." She replied, peeling the skin of an orange.
Then I asked her questions after questions.
"Why?"
"What time is it?"
"Why didn't you wake me up?"
"Why didn't you wake Ci-N up?"
"Why is Burj Khalifa called Burj Khalifa—"
She answered all of them calmly. Hehe, that's why I like Kris. She's calm, but also chaotic when she needs to be.
Hoy, don't call me annoying, alright? I'm just curious.
Then realization hit me. I wasn't home. Which meant, I'm not with Kuya Angelo. I needed to be home by 10:00 PM!
"What's the time again?"
"2:04 AM." Kristine answered, checking her watch.
HOLY SH*T!
That demon's gonna kill me!
I almost fell out of the bed before Kristine catched me.
"Where are you going?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"Home—"
"You're not going anywhere." Keifer's voice echoed from the doorway.
I froze. Slowly, I turned toward him.
He stood there with a bag of fruits, his expression making it very clear that arguing wasn't an option.
I swallowed.
Yeah… I'm definitely not getting out of here.
"Pero—"
"No buts." He cut me off, walking toward me and placing the bag of fruits on the table.
Everyone's ganging up on me.
HELLO?!
Is this a hospital or a courtroom?!
Where's my lawyer?!
"You're not going anywhere until the doctor says so," Keifer replied, sitting on the bed.
I pouted, trying to bring out that soft side of him he had shown earlier this evening.
Maybe if I looked cute enough, he'd change his mind.
"Not gonna work."
Damn.
Worth a shot.
"Jay, you're not well. Plus, It's 2 in the morning, how are you gonna get home?" Kristine asked, handing me a slice of an orange.
"I'm better than ever, also.. I'll just walk."
"Jayjay, stop being so stubborn…" Keifer caught my hand, gently caressing it.
"I-I'm not stubborn," I replied.
I looked away, suddenly feeling warmth spread across my cheeks.
I could feel myself turning red.
Why does he still have this effect on me?
"Weeeeeehhhhh!" Kristine covered her face, dramatically shaking her head.
Pft.
What's so romantic here?
He held my hand.
That's literally it.
Someone get this girl out of here before she starts throwing flower petals.
I turned to Keifer, who was smirking while looking away.
I better send these two to the nearest mental hospital.
First Kristine starts screaming "Weeeeeehhh!"
Now Keifer's over here smirking like an idiot.
What's so funny?!
Why are they both smiling like they just witnessed the greatest love story of the century?
HELLO?
I'M RIGHT HERE.
I cleared my throat, trying to let the situation drown. (Wow, I'm so creative haha.)
"Ahemm, Ahemm... So, what're we gonna do after I get discharged?"
"Let's go to my apartment," Kristine replied, leaning onto the chair.
Krissy's apartment? Sure, we've been there two-three times already, I'm very familiar with the place. I can proudly say that, I know the whole apartment more than Kris or her family. (In my ver of book-2, Jayjay has been at Kristine's house so yeah :D.)
