Chapter 15 - Chapter 11 P2

Weapons select their users just as much as users select their weapons.

Finding a weapon that truly suits oneself requires more than wealth—it requires luck.

Clearly, Keqing's luck wasn't bad. She had found a "master of weapons."

After Keqing carefully stored the Dragon's Roar in the Box, the two began today's work. Since this was John's first time, he needed Keqing's patient guidance to make the transition smooth—not awkward, stiff, or painful.

After all, a first-time failure could severely shake confidence.

"Files like these should be categorized under 'Management'…" Keqing stood beside John, pointing to the files as she explained.

Perhaps for convenience, she was very close to him.

John could smell her faint, captivating fragrance, which seemed almost magical, tugging at his focus.

The white blouse wrapped around Keqing's delicate figure yet still revealed a hint of allure, making him wish he could fall into it forever.

Her long eyelashes, crimson eyes, high nose bridge, cherry-like lips, combined with her serious expression—working under the same roof as such a woman, especially one who was his superior, was a dream for many.

John suddenly realized he might not be able to handle it.

"Are you even listening?" Keqing noticed his distraction and slightly frowned.

"Yes, yes. These files go under 'Management.' Got it," John said, feeling the nervousness of a student caught daydreaming.

Fortunately, Keqing wasn't his teacher, and he genuinely was paying attention.

Her expression softened. At least he was listening—daydreaming in class would have meant punishment from Teacher Keqing!

"That's enough for today. Once you're more familiar with Liyue's laws and knowledge, you can help me handle things here."

"This is the latest edition of The General Code of Liyue Laws. You can take it home. Ideally, try to memorize it," Keqing said, pulling a thick book from her study.

"In a few days, I'll give a simple test. The questions will be from this book. It's not too hard—once you read it through, you should pass."

Whether in work or life, she had always been serious—her lifelong style.

Perhaps that's why some people couldn't handle her personality, limiting the number of true friends she had.

John, however, didn't mind Keqing's nature. Having experienced great ups and downs, and human kindness and cruelty, he understood her value.

Besides, memorizing a book is far less unpleasant than surviving in the wild and battling monsters daily.

"I understand," John said earnestly, taking The General Code of Liyue Laws and adding memorization to his daily routine.

He planned to put hunting slimes on pause for the next few days and focus on Liyue law to become a competent assistant.

With the Mora from Keqing's purchase of the Emperor figure and the slime condensates he'd sold this month, he didn't need to worry about living expenses.

With his current savings, he could live comfortably for more than ten years, provided he didn't spend recklessly.

Money is easy to spend but hard to earn, after all.

"I'll memorize this book within a week," John promised.

"No need to force yourself," Keqing said. Memorizing a book of this thickness in a week would indeed be tight.

When she memorized laws herself, even working efficiently, it took at least two weeks. A one-week plan would require factoring in rest as well.

"No pressure—I have a pretty good memory," John said with a smile.

At the same time, he opened the shop interface, navigated to the Starlight Exchange, and found the "Complete Key Points of The General Code of Liyue Laws."

Clicked Confirm Exchange.

Immediately, John understood everything.

Of course… this was limited to this book.
