Chapter 88 - Domination: Part 4:

Author's Note: I am not an editor or a professional writer. I will write this and edit it to the best of my ability. I also do not own Uma Musume, which is owned by Cygames. Watch the animes and read the mangas, for they are pretty good. Finally, please enjoy.

Holly Fields POV:

Hello, I'm Holly, a bona fide trainer and head coach of the Valued Gods. I believe talent is everything because no matter how hard a regular person works, a hardworking talent will always triumph. People have talked about insane hard workers who will do anything to improve, but that's a myth. All my life, I honed my skills to find talent with just a look. I can read muscle structure and recognize talent from anyone by instinct.

I also trained to bring out that talent through training. That's why when I look at my team, I am proud of what I built. Being a female non-Uma Musume coach, I have a hard time finding a team to hire me. I was lucky to be hired by a medium-sized team in the FSRL with a limited budget. Using my talents, I built a team of diamonds in the rough and brought our team to be one of the best in the world.

I thought we were becoming even greater until Wellington happened. One team took what I thought was the highest level and cranked it up a thousand notches. I saw the most talented team I've ever seen. Ruby, Cobalt, Amber, and Crimson are either insane talent or have insane potential. Ivory and Viridian took what I knew and took it to revolutionary levels.

Then Ebony, an incredible dirt talent, came along with the most talented captain I've seen. Next was Ash, who didn't look physically talented but had an aura that made my instincts scream danger, and then I saw why. Finally, Azure is a master at honing her talent to grow even higher to end it all. That team didn't even let out all their players yet, but everyone learned to fear them. Now, new members are popping up, and talent is unveiling their dominance.

This tournament soon started, and Cobalt proved her talent. Chestnut is the most unpredictable talent I've ever seen; she even saved everyone today. Ruby is showing off her abilities, and Ivory is claiming her throne at the top of the Stayers. Now we are at the first relay of the day, and Ebony has shown why she is a master of the dirt. Then Captain Primrose just showed her greatness by doing an entire run using only Rare Skills.

It was insane and utterly breathtaking. That's when Captain Primrose pushed the button, but no one came out. We can see inside the pod, and what everyone saw made them speechless. She was waiting for the other gates to open. Why the fuck would you blow the lead created by your teammates like this?

Still, the Broncos were calm, as if they already expected this. The next one is Agent Onyx, right, at this moment, she can leave anytime she wants cause the gates don't close unless she has fully exited the pod. I got a good look at her earlier, and what I saw didn't impress me. Her talent and body were built by hard work, but she had little talent. Now she's pulling this stunt; if she were on my team, I would fire her immediately after the race.

I was watching a disaster happen, and soon the other racers arrived, and the gates opened. That's when Onyx left along with the other racers. The other teams saw what happened and think they have a shot at winning. I know I believe my team does. That's when I saw the impossible: Onyx, who had no talent and no advanced form, burst past everyone.

How is she doing this, it can't be drugs cause drug tests are heavily monitored and highly advanced. There's no way anyone can bypass the drug tests. I had to observe more closely and saw something that made me speechless. A body that looked like it was forged instead of naturally born. All running like a machine with a style created to complement the user's body.

That runs on constant repeated repetition with no flaws like a machine. A style that cannot be built around talent, but must be created by an insane amount of hard work and repetition. It's a style that demands hard work to perfect and nothing less. That's when I realized the myth is real. The insane hard worker who will do anything to improve has arrived, and she is magnificent.

The style was so advanced that every time she was bumped, the person bounced back. Every block got rerouted or avoided. Finally, any attempt to surround her failed as the runner was not afraid to perfectly find any hole and bust through the entrapment. I looked around at the other team's coaches, and they were in awe at what they were seeing. The boos that rained earlier were silenced, seeing Onyx run it all became admiration.

Onyx passed everyone and took the lead, and the machine built distance constantly and repeatedly. It accelerated faster and faster as its muscles changed the form of the body to do so while preserving energy perfectly. Onyx was so far ahead that it showed the wait was no problem at all. Once she crossed the finish line and pushed the button, I fell to my knees in awe. I just witnessed a performance I thought to be impossible.

The interview began as I didn't notice how much time had passed. The interviewer asked," Onyx, why did you wait in the pod instead of running immediately after your captain arrived?" Onyx answered with no dishonesty in her eyes," I wanted to face them all on equal standing, no lead, an honorable competitive race amongst athletes." Everyone looked at her in awe and respect, and that's when the interviewer asked," That's amazing, and last question, how did you get this good?" Onyx answered with a smile and shining eyes," I wasn't born talented; that's why every day I seek ways to improve myself to be greater than yesterday."

She then continued," Every minute, every second, awake, asleep, or at rest, I find a way to work hard and improve to become even greater than I am. That is my spirit of YOUTH!!" She then did a pose to emphasize her beliefs, and I was speechless. What I heard was insanity, what I saw was greatness, and what I felt was awe. Everyone began to applaud the warrior of hard work they saw in front of them.

The other racers, who had just heard the entire interview cause they arrived moments ago, were now looking at her with respect. Heck, everyone was looking at her with respect. Soon she left the field before Ash dropped kicked her in the face. Wait, what the fuck? Ash soon bounced off, and Rain caught her in a princess carry.

That's when I saw the devil blush madly and start calling Rain an idiot. Rain calmly dealt with her, and I realized Ash was in love with Onyx. Which is the best result I've seen all day. The honorable warrior who tamed the she devil. Ash was probably going to beat our asses later, but I'm going to enjoy this sight.

Enduring Rain POV

The gates opened, but I did not leave. I told them I was going to challenge my opponents in a race on equal grounds. Now I wait for their gates to open. I hear the boos and disbelief from everyone. Sweets was on board with it, and she didn't rush me.

Still, the other teams were in shock beside me, and some yelled like I was insulting them. Even so, I waited. That's when the other teams caught up and one by one their gates opened. I waited for the last one and left right after. Everyone must be insulting me right now, but I focused on my run. I trained every second of my life for this, and I am ready.

I soon became faster as my muscles and style created a way for me to continue to accelerate, adapt, and manage my energy efficiently. They tried to block me, but I side-stepped them or went around, not caring. I soon went back to my position, and they tried to bump me, but I felt nothing as they bounced back like a rubber ball. It was becoming harder for them to deal with, so they tried to surround me. They thought they succeeded, but I believe that hole is big enough.

I accelerated again, busting out of their pathetic cage. They could not stop me as I ran away so fast that they could only try to catch up. They will not. My muscles, technique, and abilities were built for this. They cannot stop me anymore.

My whole life I've been told I wasn't talented enough. I improved myself every day and proved others wrong. I did so even when Father Time took away my abilities. Through the losses, through the heartache. Even in this life, I do the same.

First in training and last out of it. I learned from friends and enemies. I improved myself through logic even if my will isn't so. Now here I am, world witness as the cream rises to the top. You might not know my name yet, but you will know of me. For I am here and you shall witness my spirit of YOUTH!

I accelerated again, but now I am undeniable. I'm going to shatter your ego; I'm going to break your pride. That a hard worker like me can surpass any genius as long as they believe in the philosophy of constant growth. I soon arrive at the finish and slam my hand on the button, allowing Sweets to go. The world sees me now, for I am victorious.

Soon, I look around, and the cheers explode, and those who looked down on me fell to their knees. They now know I am real. Soon, the interviewers pulled me aside and gave me a water bottle and a towel. The other runners arrived, and the interview began. She asked me," Onyx, why did you wait in the pod instead of running immediately after your captain arrived?"

I smiled, telling them how I truly felt," I wanted to face them all on equal standing, no lead, an honorable competitive race amongst athletes." She nodded and followed up with her next question, asking," That's amazing, and last question, how did you get this good?" I saw it in her eyes; she doesn't think I'm a talent, so she truly wanted to know how I got my abilities. I told her as honestly as I could," I wasn't born talented; that's why every day I seek ways to improve myself to be greater than yesterday." I did my best might guy thumbs up pose while saying that.

Then, to switch things up, I did a Franky from One Piece pose and told them," Every minute, every second, awake, asleep, or at rest, I find a way to work hard and improve to become even greater than I am. That is my spirit of YOUTH!!" They might not like my poses, but I don't care, because I'm proud to be myself. That's when I heard them applaud, and I'm happy they accepted me for who I am. I soon left the field and saw two familiar horseshoes coming at me.

Gray soon dropped a kick me in the face, screaming," Why the fuck did you do all of that dumbass!" I already gave my reasoning to everyone, so I didn't need to dignify that with an answer. Soon, I caught her midair after she bounced off of me. She blushed so cutely as I gave her a princess carry. She was saying to put her down, but she didn't struggle to get off.

I carried her all the way back to our area, and soon I saw Tsukasa and Yuto waiting there for me. They both looked absolutely pissed. Now, after being scolded for a few minutes, Vic got them to calm down and promise to always put me on to lead off or in singles. Still, I earned a lot of respect today, and that's what all a hard worker like me could ask for. Soon, Gray, whom I put down earlier, led me away.

I sat down, and she leaned on me while we watched Sweets do her thing. Gray was still setting up for her race while leaning on me. Mana was also checking on me for any injuries and bruises and doing her work. She told me I take too many hits. I know I do, and that's probably not going to change anytime soon.

Life doesn't like to play nice with hard-working idiots like me. That's why I counteract it with toughness and friendship. One to endure life's wrath and the other to rely on when it gets too much. Still, I learn, and I fight back so I can make something of myself. Gray leans on me, comforting me more than she knows.

She's nicer than she thinks. I relate to her a lot, too. We're both not very talented, but we kept fighting against the world. That's why, with her here, I never felt alone. 'Cause we take on the world together no matter what. That's why I love her so much, so please, Gray, tell me you love me.

Dragon Snow POV

Since I was young, I've always wanted to be the fastest. I wanted to be a dragon flying faster than the fall of a hailstorm. Still, my fears held me back, and I was seen as mediocre. I worked hard and thought I had no talent. When I grew up, I joined a team with a rich owner.

That small team was later named Healing Break. We're a good national-level team, but one day we traded for Faded God, and everything changed. She was hell-bent on making our team into a world-class powerhouse. She cut many of the team, and even though I thought I was next, she just gave me advice. Sometimes you have to get rid of the person you are to become the person you want to be.

I took that advice and created a persona and wore a mask. I worked harder and improved myself. I enhanced my personality but got rid of my fears. The end result is my personality being split, with my masked self getting my best traits and my unmasked self unleashing my worst. Still, my results were better, and I kept my spot on the team.

We soon began winning races and tournaments not only nationally, but internationally as well. Then Wellington happened. A team of monsters arrived, and they not only dominated but revolutionized the game. Now everyone wants to do Marathons and double finishing kicks. Still, it made me want to be like them, but this feeling of not being good enough still ate at me.

Then the new sponsor showed up and began giving us a lot of money. He also improved our training, staff, and resources as if he had infinite money. His goal was for us to gain recognition by handing the Bloody Broncos their first race losses. He arrived way before the Super Major, but we only met him last week. Still, thanks to his help before and after the team players met, we felt the improvement quickly.

He made us into a powerful team and made our goal the Helsinki Major. Which is in late December, which is only a month away. I thought we wouldn't make it, so he put us in boot camp. Everything was going fine until he left for the Super Major, saying there might be a chance the Broncos might lose this tournament. Which is pretty logical cause it is a Super Major.

Still, it didn't happen. We got together to study our opponents today, having a rest day. First, we were in awe at the first race, having every racer break the world record. The second race we watched a chaotic race where a mad heroine saved all her opponents on the track. With no one noticing.

Then the war between the leagues kicked off. Then, the third race, the battle of the three marathon kings, happened. Which was epic. Now we're watching the relay and watching Ebony introduce her new music genre, which pissed off Rocki. Then Ebony smoked everyone and opened the door for Captain Primrose's master class of running.

Devi noticed it first and pointed it out, making us all speechless. The captain left before she announced it to take an important phone call, so she doesn't know yet. That's when something weird happened. The next player of the Broncos, Agent Onyx, didn't leave her cage. The camera showed she was waiting for the gates of the other racers to open.

Everyone was speechless: the crowd, the audiences at home, the commentators, even the staff and other teams. When the other racers arrived, she still waited until the last one opened and then left. She was now in last place, but something weird happened. When I looked at Onyx, I saw someone who looked like an absolute nobody. She looked like an untalented athlete from my school days and the lower parts of the league.

Yet she did something absolutely amazing. Her pace on camera moved like it was built on perfect repetition. Her style is built to function like an ever-accelerating object. Her toughness hard as steel. Her breathing was perfectly in harmony, like an engine.

Her energy usage is perfectly calculated with every movement. Her movement itself is perfectly calculated for her body. Her body is built with muscles to support everything. Her strategy was simple and devastating all at once. Everyone immediately knew this wasn't born; this was made.

We were in awe at what we saw, and soon she passed everyone and led the race. Soon we were cursing her and cheering for her. She soon finished the race, and after everyone arrived, her interview began. The first question was obviously why she stayed in her pod instead of running and growing her lead. She answered while making a thumbs-up pose, pointing at herself," I wanted to face them all on equal standing, no lead, an honorable competitive race amongst athletes."

Everyone applauded, such honorable reasoning. Then the interviewer asked how she got so good. Onyx answered," I wasn't born talented; that's why every day I seek ways to improve myself to be greater than yesterday." She then did a pose before loudly proclaiming," Every minute, every second, awake, asleep, or at rest, I find a way to work hard and improve to become even greater than I am. That is my spirit of YOUTH!!"

Everyone was applauding in respect, but I got up and walked towards Fade. I saw she was watching the last race after talking to Devi about many things. I marched up to her and Fade exasperatedly asked," Drago, what do you want?" I told her confidently," Fade, I want Onyx; I don't care what kind of race it is; if she's running, I want to face her." Fade then laughed softly at first and then burst out laughing so loud that everyone in the room looked at her.

She soon calmed down and answered," Sorry, Drago, I just didn't think you had it in you to talk to me like that without your mask on." What my mask wasn't on, but my personality hasn't changed. This means my unconfident side truly wanted to face Onyx. I was speechless, but then I smiled, responding confidently," It means 100% of me wants to face her with everything I've got." That's when Devi and Fade laughed again, with everyone else joining in.

I then yelled," Girls, I'm serious." Devi wheezed, replied," We know; that's why it's hilarious. This is the first time we have actually seen you so confident and serious. We never thought we'd see the day." I was speechless again and soon pouted angrily, I'll show you, I'm going to win this race, soon my odyssey to defeat Onyx began.
