"So you plan on trying it out?" Klein sighed and instead of losing patience, he figured it's the perfect time to address this.
Praying and meeting Mrs. White in the dreamworld can be dangerous! He could still recall the form of his body after awakening.
Not much he can comment regarding this. However, his only thoughts was the floor doesn't taste delightful!
"It's quite easily and convenient. Just lit the seed's tip and use it like a candle." he explained casually.
Leonard staggered and turned over to Klein reclining on the sofa. He blurted out, "So just like that?"
"Yeah." Klein answered and added in his heart, Too eager to spend cash? Huh, now I'm wondering how much salary does being a Nighthawk, with years in service...
10 pounds per week? 15? 18 and ten soli? he thought of how well he can foster Melissa with that amount. It could even finance them a trackless carriage!
"Huh... Is Mrs. White truly that benign?" Leonard returned to his previously seated posture.
"Mrs. White's benignity isn't something to be exploited." Klein knew and finally understand Mrs. White's situation.
She is the consort of the King Giants. Perhaps due to circumstances, and acknowledging that the current era does not record any such Kingdoms. She lost a portion of Her strength and is trying to reclaim.
A genuine recovering God, unlike himself who's leveraging his image above the gray fog to allow for an exchange of information.
Leonard nodded slightly. "I'm very aware of that."
Following that, he suddenly asked his doubts regarding Mrs. White. "Is due to Selina's connection to Mrs. White that she's in constant danger?"
Morroy wanted her to obtain the Shaman boon. That made everyone speculate that perhaps danger is perpetually attempting on taking her.
At that moment. Klein reigned his thoughts for a couple of seconds. Only when he weighted the pros and cons of having Leonard. He deliberated his words.
It took an additional two seconds to reply, "Maybe. But what's happening isn't something to blamed to Mrs. White.
"Right now. Another person is eyeing Selina from afar..."
Leonard's expression turned grave as he merely turned an eye to Klein's direction. "What does that mean?"
Klein's heartstrings tightened as he began sharing, "Do you recall Huddsman's accomplice?"
Leonard replied with silence.
Hearing nothing from the usual talkative poet. Klein added with a deepened voice, "That sketch of him. The one presented to us thanks to Old Neil's divination seemed to have been tampered.
"Meaning, that it isn't entirely him in the picture."
"What's this about Selina?" Leonard had long decided on a matter. Selina is a member first and she's also the one who had initiated a circle by entrusting him with a secret.
Before, he only intends on coexisting with Klein. If it helps the company and their teammates out of danger, then he'll be more than willing to turn a blind eye.
However, such is the unpredictability of fate. Now, not only does he had to believe with the Evernight Goddess but also Mrs. White.
Klein sat up and explained, "I have recently divined a person that has been a regular for Selina's pharmaceutical service. His name is Marvik."
"I haven't been paying attention to this additional service we're making..." Leonard pressed a finger on his chin and added, "Before, I think it's fairly innocent to allow treatment coming from a beyonder to the normal people.
"And funds have been quite stacked recently because of it. Orianna is also starting to consider raising our salary for that next week."
Klein nodded half-melancholically. "It would be such a shame not to because of this."
Leonard was quiet for awhile until nearly twenty seconds later did he responded with, "I'll pay close attention to the people entering here from now on."
"I'll hold your word." Klein sighed in relief. Sensing that the tension has eased, he finally felt secured to share another piece of information regarding the seed.
"Also, the seed may animate itself without your consent." he informed slowly.
Noticing Leonard's baffled face, he explained without hesitance, "If it did, then it's likely Selina behind it. Her connection with Mrs. White allows her to control the seed remotely from far away."
"Huh..." Leonard fished his coin case out of his pocket and looked at it with peeled eyes. Moments later, he chuckled, "How incredible. Is that why the seed pierced Morroy's heart? It was being controlled by Selina?"
"Yeah, however I don't know the full details of it. Selina explained that it needs her to pass out and transfer her consciousness into the seed. Effectively piloting it." Klein said in detail to the extent of his knowledge.
"So it means Selina can aid us in safety?" Leonard said with high interest.
"Yes." Klein nodded firmly. "But notify her beforehand. Otherwise it'll be dangerous for her to stay unconscious."
He was warned of the lingering effects caused by this phenomena for Selina. Since they can use this feature indefinitely, Klein didn't find any reason to constantly use it, and it would only burden her for nothing.
Leonard withdrew the coin case back to his pocket and smiled, "So as long as I have this. I can ask Mrs. White regarding many things, including you and Selina's situation.
"Like having little companions. In stories, audiences adore such helpful nuances in the plot."
Klein's mouth twitched indiscernibly and lampooned. I suppose by nuances, you mean magical pets?
When he found that it was time to head out. He simply told Leonard he's leaving before checking up on the reception hall for the last time and finally left.
...
In the Blackthorn Security Company, minutes after his grueling training with his combat instructor. Klein watched helplessly as Dunn rubbed his forehead while looking at him.
"Let me guess, you came across another supernatural incident?"
Hey, Captain, what's with that tone of disparagement... Klein cleared his throat and answered without hesitation, "Yes."
"What's the matter this time?" Dunn Smith continued rubbing his forehead again.
Klein organized his words and replied, "Three things. One of which I wanted to discuss. For the first incident, I discovered that Marik had actually been frequenting the company for quite some time. It was before I went to buy materials for my charms at the underground market."
When he said that, he hinted heavily that he needed a reimbursement for the materials.
Klein couldn't mention the fees for the detective he employed to find Daxter Guderian, for it involved the red chimney. He deeply regretted not employing separate detectives.
Dunn seemed to fail to read between the lines as he placed deeper attention at the name mentioned.
"Marik?"
He was the only known accomplice of Ruther Huddsman, one of the vampires of the Rose School of Thought.
"Yes." Klein quickly shed the thought about reimbursement and straight to the matter.
"Just yesterday. As I was about to head out and bade Rozanne off. I came across a man named Marvik talking to her. I didn't expect that he's a regular, one with the usual constipation problems.
"However, his tone is what led me to investigate him. I then realized that he's likely Marik."
Dunn looked intently at Klein and stopped caressing his forehead altogether.
"How long has this been happening? How did no one realize?"
Klein was unsure about what to answer the former. However, he calmly replied to the latter, "Perhaps its due to how insufficient we are at his whereabouts. This is Rose School of Thought, it is likely that they employed anti-divination to tamper with Old Neil's attempt at getting his image."
Dunn sighed and proceeded to withdrew his hand to take a note from his drawer. While doing this, he said, "We'll take precautionary measures. After this, tell the rest to stay alert of this Marvik man and from now on have Selina be monitored during those hours.
"...No, actually, I think it's best to stop this altogether. As a Seer, what do you think?"
About stopping Selina doing a service... Klein did not considered this thought before.
But thinking about it, since Selina had finally digested her potion. It's actually safe for her to stop. He also had to emphasize to her soon that what she's doing is merely 'acting', and should not be a risk.
Thus, after Klein weighed in his mind. The concurred conditions. He decisively said.
"I think it's good idea. For awhile until we find Marvik and arrest him, Selina should stop the service and become just a concierge.
"I'll let Rozanne know so she can deny future clients and revert back to just a commissioning company."
"That's good." Dunn nodded slightly.
After his firm decision. Klein reeled his thoughts in and changed the subject to the newly advanced Ademinsaul.
"Indeed, he has been blathering on about a dream. Blood bath and corpse scattered, among them was him and it gave Old Neil a hard time placating him." Dunn thought.
Then, before the moment passed, he asked slowly, "This requires an expert's opinion right?"
He was referring to Klein being a Seer and how it symbolizes.
"A disaster. A disaster that spans a wide area. But I have no information other than this. Furthermore, not everything in Ademisaul's dream might have a symbolic meaning," Klein said while deliberating his words.
During that, he certainly felt a connection with the meteorite's sudden activation. The horror coiled around his heart.
"I will report this to the Holy Cathedral and see what they have to say." Dunn shook his head and said in a self-deprecating manner, "This isn't something I have expertise in."
Klein didn't have any other ideas either. But mulling over it is pointless. So he changed the subject and spoke about the wraith harassment Elizabeth faced.
"Lamud Town... Is that lady a believer of the Goddess?" Dunn asked.
"Yes." Klein gave an affirmative answer.
"Then there should be no problems. Let's head over to Lamud Town now and try to get lunch there. Oh, and bring Frye along. His abilities should prove useful if the incident involves corpses and ghosts." Dunn massaged his temples and tried his hardest to contemplate whether he had forgotten anything.
If Elizabeth wasn't a believer of the Evernight Goddess, then they would have to hand her over to the Mandated Punishers or the Machinery Hivemind according to her faith. If her faith didn't lie in any of the three major Churches, then she would be handed over to the Machinery Hivemind who were responsible for the outskirts.
Klein didn't speak. He waited silently for a while before finally hearing Dunn add, "Also, we have three men on the mission. We can request to use Sealed Artifact 3-0782."
"3-0782?" After a minute, Klein recalled that the Sealed Artifact was called the Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem.
This Sacred Emblem's Beyonder influence seemed to be able to last a long time. It had the ability to constantly purify any corpses and spirits in a fifteen-meter radius. However, it had the drawback of purifying the soul of a commoner at the same time. Research data indicated that if a normal human were to stand within its radius for an hour, they would become an idiot that only knew how to praise the Sun. The limit for Beyonders was six hours.
As for ghosts and corpses, they would scatter in less than a minute.
Hmm, to think that the Captain would remember the codename for this Sealed Artifact... Damn, I feel that my memory is worse than his... Klein suddenly froze, nearly wanting to hang himself.
Then Dunn recalled, "Here."
Handed to Klein was the note. Written within it are instructions and labels. What time, date, and conditions about a patient all in a gridded arrangement.
"Give that to Old Neil before I forget it along the way." Dunn said.
Klein lowered it and asked, "Is this for keeping track of Ademinsaul?"
"Yes." Dunn nodded and began explaining, "Since the Holy Church had its hands full. They tacitly agreed for him to be rehabilitated here. Old Neil is doing a great job at helping him regulate with his beyonder powers.
"On one hand, they also like to be reported about his state."
Klein nodded and can't help but ask, "Is he the first Monster beyonder in the Holy Church?"
Dunn shook his head and said honestly, "I do not know. Those records are confidential. Perhaps if I got promotion I might know, but that's far into the future.
"Also..."
Suddenly, Dunn Smith leaned back and looked at Klein with his deep gray eyes.
"Yesterday, you went to the Divination Club again. Did you feel any changes over the past two days?"
