Outside, darkness had already begun to settle, casting long shadows across the compound, but nothing else had changed.
People were still scattered everywhere, still bowing, still repeating the same words over and over like they were trapped in it.
Maybe if I speak, they'll stop, I thought.
Without waiting any longer, I stepped forward, moving toward them, drawn by a need to test anything that might break whatever hold this was.
Behind me, Axel stayed back, moving from one body to another, trying again and again to repeat what he had done before, attempting to bring more of them back.
Jeremy stood there, looking around like he couldn't believe what he was seeing- the burned-down mansion, the scattered bodies, and the people still trapped in that endless chant.
I stepped forward, closing the distance between myself and them. I didn't know what I was going to say until the word left my mouth.
"Enough!"
