Rico rested in the back of the armored truck as they made their way through Metropolis. All he had was the armored dark box and his gear that he got from the system. In the front seats were Gearbox and T-Dog.
The window to the front seat slid open and T-Dog peaked back at him. "We are at the gate now, boss. I will knock on the back door three times for you to open it up." He informed him and then closed the window.
Rico twisted his neck as he got himself ready. He could hear movement and talking outside of the armored truck followed by three knocks on the back door that was next to him. Rico stood up and drew his sidearm, the laser pistol but he kept it hidden behind the door as he unlatched the door. Then he pushed it outward.
They were in a garage of the LexCorp building. There were a number of people gathered in unmarked gear that were just plain black. The only ones that stood out was T-Dog who was talking with who Rico could only assume was the commander of this unmarked unit. Then there was the scientist who was standing in front of him. He was sweating profusely as he held the briefcase that was handcuffed to his hand.
"I am going with you." The scientist nervously declared as he struggled to swallow.
Rico narrowed his eyes and looked at T-Dog and the unmarked commander who were approaching. "Explain." Rico demanded as he observed the garage and noticed the cameras were currently off. LexCorp likely did not know about this.
"The scientist and the contents of the briefcase go together." The unmarked commander explained. "Just get it to the drop off point and then leave."
Rico growled slightly before he reached down and pulled the scientist into the vehicle before closing. "Let's get moving." Rico declared as he closed the rear door and then sealed it up.
The scientist cowered opposite of him as there was a bit more talking outside before the armored vehicle pulled away. Once they were a few minutes away the window opened up. "We are on our way." T-Dog declared from the window. "I will keep this open just in case."
Rico grunted and watched the scientist as they nervously tapped the case. It was only a few minutes before something happened. As they drove through the city he could suddenly feel a tingling as a sense of danger set in on him. "We have company." Rico warned.
"Understood." T-Dog turned to Gearbox, "pick up the pace." Then he closed the slot.
Then a few moments later they could feel a slight shuddering as the armored vehicle hit something. Gearbox called out from the front cabin, "There was a fake construction site, it looked like they planned to t-bone us with a garbage truck."
They could hear thuds on the roof of the vehicle. Rico looked up and the back door shuddered as someone tried to pull it open. But it was locked at the moment and would not open up short of thermite burning through the door.
It stopped after a moment. "We have people on the roof. Should I get out and shoot at them?" T-Dog asked as Rico listened to the people on the roof. He activated his eagle vision and could see that there were five people on the roof. They are dressed in some tighter clothes, they actually looked like League of Assassins people.
"No, keep your windows and doors closed. Continue on to our destination." Rico raised his laser pistol. Then watched as one of the roof's hatches sparked as one of the people began cutting into the roof. "Run into a few things. See if we can shake them off."
There was no clear response instead they could feel a jostling as the vehicle ran into something. Rico could see on the roof as most of them ducked. But one unlucky person was hit by the low hanging roof of an overhang that Gearbox probably drove under.
"This is going to catch attention. We are coming up on a busy street!" Gearbox announced.
"Honk the horn to clear people out and slam on our breaks. See if we can throw them off and then continue on." Rico declared as he watched it spark a bit more as they started cutting into the hatch again.
There was a moment where they could feel the vehicle speed up. Then it skidded to a stop and Rico had to grab the scientist's shirt so he did not fly and hit the back of the cabin. With his Eagle vision he could see most of the enemies flew off the vehicle. But one, the one with the torch continued to cut through as Gearbox began driving quickly again.
Rico could hear shouting outside. "Sounds like you got most of them." He pointed out as he watched the hatch get partially opened. As soon as it was, the person tossed aside the torch and then began pulling it open. Rico took aim while the scientist backed away. As soon as its head was visible he fired his laser pistol and the assassins head partially disappeared as they fell back and off the roof. It had burned through most of the person's head, Rico doubted they could do a positive visual inspection now.
But there was something off with the person he had just killed. "Well we have a nice sun hatch back here now." Rico pointed out as they continued to their destination. "Pull up the news on your phone. See where the big blue guy is."
There was a moment of silence from the front. "He is back there fighting those guys. Apparently they are actually really strong. But he just hit one and they popped into green smoke." T-Dog informed them. "What's going on with that? Did he kill them?"
"No, but it sounds like someone wants to make it look like he did. I am sure he is not fine either at the moment. These guys are probably leaking out toxins and other poisons." Rico informed them as he got situated near the back door again. "Keep an eye out for more enemies."
