"How long will it take to repair?" Rico asked as he looked at the armored vehicle. They were able to drop off the scientist and the suitcase to the hidden facility without issue. Now they were back at the garage and Gearbox was taking stock of the damage to the armored truck.
Edgelady had already reported that there was someone attempting to hack into their systems. That was probably Oracle from the Batfamily. Apparently they were even at the moment even with the more advanced systems that Oracle was using.
Gearbox stepped back from the armored truck. "I am thinking… a few hours? It is mostly fine. There is just that hatch on the roof. Then there is some minor surface damage around the edges of the vehicle. Aside from the hatch there is nothing immediate. Do we need it for something else?"
Rico shook his head. "No, we have a few days before we leave. Apparently they are lining up the times." He began walking to the back door. "Leave the decorative stuff for later when we are done with this job."
Rico walked out and into the alley. Then moved across and entered the gymnasium. He walked a few feet and then faltered as he noticed someone was standing next to T-Dog in the middle of the gymnasium. She was a red headed woman who had visible muscles and scars. Her appearance alone was arousing and titillating to his senses.
She was wearing a mix of red and black leather armor with pieces of some gold like material. After a moment he realized it was Amazonium, like what his knuckle dusters were made of. She did not have much aside from her double sided axe and some Amazonium bracers.
"Hello," Rico smiled as he approached with a smile. She narrowed her eyes in suspicion as she looked over him. "I believe you are Artemis of Bana-Mighdall. How might I help you? I wanted to recruit you but I was struggling to even find you. So how did you show up here?" Rico asked as he closed the distance.
She stood a bit straighter. "It seems the gods heard your request. The oracles suggested I come here to figure out myself." Artemis claimed but Rico glanced over at the system notice that had been sitting in the air for a few days now.
[New Harem Run-In Voucher Used… Pending… Please wait…]
It seems this was what the voucher did. Literally bent reality, but that gave him the feeling that the deities were connected to the system in some way. He would have to look into it later. "In that case let's talk up in my office. We are looking for people to join our mercenary group." Rico explained as he led the way over to the stairs he heard T-Dog click his tongue in annoyance before he walked toward the janitor's closet.
Rico would have to see what was annoying T-Dog later. It seemed like he was upset with Rico for some reason. That would become a problem if he did not deal with it now.
They walked into his office and he moved behind his desk. "Now then, are you looking for anything specific or are you just looking for your place in the world?" Rico asked as he waved at a comfortable chair that was recently bought. He had to put a bit of effort into his office, even if he would barely spend time here.
Artemis looked at the chair before pulling the greataxe off her back and moving to the wall resting it against some cabinets. She then moved back over and sat down in the seat hesitantly before looking straight at him. "I just need food, a place to stay, and some work I won't disagree with." She told him.
Rico blinked before he leaned back in his own chair before leaning forward. "What type of work do you not want to be part of?" Rico asked as he pulled out a notepad and a pencil.
"I refuse to attack children or be the catalyst for a war." Artemis started and Rico frowned. He started to write it and then stopped as her words sunk in.
Rico looked at her and shook his head, "we would not do either of those things anyways. Can you think of anything else?" Rico asked.
Artemis blinked for a moment as surprise came upon her face. Then she shook her head. "I cannot think of anything else. That was the only thing, I suppose I will not attack the defenseless."
"Neither would we." Rico sighed and rubbed his temples. Then he tapped the notepad for a moment with the pencil. "How about going up against the so-called vigilantes and heroes? Do you have any qualms or issues with going up against them?"
"I do not." Artemis shook her head. "I realize that I am entering a world where my allies are only the people beside me and the enemies are whoever our employer says they are." She answered as sat up a bit straighter. "Now about-"
Shink!
They both looked over at the source of the noise to see her greataxe had slipped down and cut a chunk off the filing cabinet. "Sorry about that. Did not think it would slip." Artemis apologized as they looked at the damaged cabinet.
Rico shook his head, "I would be more mad if there was actually anything inside of there. But it is fine. "If you are okay with those conditions then we just need to get you situated in one of the dorms and then you can join our next mission. We are in the middle of one at the moment and will bring you in on the next one. For now I will introduce you to the dorm mother and set up a payment system." Rico stood up and began walking to the door.
Artemis followed him and then flinched before walking back and grabbing her greataxe and then following him again.
