He didn't really know what kind of expression he had on his face, but he hoped it was a smile.
When he once thought they might never meet again, this was the one thing he most wanted to tell Somnus and now, he had finally said it out loud.
A quiet silence filled the room for a few moments.
Somnus had closed his eyes as if letting Li Shen's words sink in.
When he finally looked up again, he met Li Shen's gaze and their eyes locked just as his voice began to form words.
"I learned from the memories I inherited that I look exactly like the person you once loved," Somnus said slowly.
"When you first awoke after losing your memory and smiled at me, when you accepted me without hesitation, it was all, in part, because of that resemblance."
He paused, his voice steady but distant. "Even knowing that, I still took advantage of it. I used it. I didn't want anyone else to have you. If you would become mine, I told myself it didn't matter if it was only because I reminded you of him."
