"Don't make me laugh. Apples are white," Priscilla disdained. In her understanding, apples were white. "This must be some kind of fruit this one has never seen."
However, that confident expression solidified when Ren peeled off the apple's skin, revealing the familiar white flesh. Right in front of her, he offered it to Emilia's lips. At his hint, she gently parted them and took a small bite.
"This apple is sweet, isn't it?" Ren asked with a light chuckle.
"Mm, it's very sweet," Emilia nodded obediently.
"How is this possible?!" Priscilla refused to believe it. She strode towards Emilia, snatched the apple, and took a big, ungraceful bite. But the moment she bit down, she trembled, her eyes wide, staring at the apple as she slowly retreated. "It really is an apple…" she murmured, unable to comprehend.
Ren shrugged. "See? You've been raised too well. The apples you eat are all peeled. A clueless, noble giant baby. Why should she be queen?"
"…" Many people fell silent.
The Sage Council felt this Royal Selection had become absurd. One of them tried to stop the farce. "Esteemed sir, aren't your words a bit too rude?"
Ren was too lazy to listen. He raised a hand. "I think this Royal Selection can end quickly. The Divine Dragon, Volcanica, right? How about letting it come out and personally choose?"
"???" Everyone thought he was crazy. How could the Divine Dragon be summoned with a single sentence?
However, as his words fell, a massive blue magical power erupted. A giant blue orb of light appeared in the sky.
"Hmm?" The candidates took out their insignias; the light on them flickered intensely.
The next moment, a giant dragon's silhouette emerged. Its physique was enormous, entirely dark blue, with large horns and wings.
"The Divine Dragon!!!" The members of the Sage Council's eyes widened.
Before they could even be shocked, a scene that dropped their jaws occurred. The Divine Dragon prostrated itself before Ren, as if in submission.
"I, Volcanica, offer my utmost respect to my Lord."
"!!!" At that moment, everyone's mind went buzzing. Why would the Divine Dragon offer respect to a person? And even a kneeling bow!
Ren nodded casually. "You are the Divine Dragon of this country. Can you decide the king now?"
"This..." Volcanica was trembling with fear. Being stared at by an unimaginable existence, he feared a single wrong word would get him eliminated.
Ren saw he was scared witless and felt helpless. "Don't overthink it. I won't kill you. Based on your own judgment, quickly end this farce. It's making my friends tired."
"Yes!" Volcanica felt relieved. He felt a single word from such an existence was more important than any promise.
Thus, its dragon eyes swept over the five candidates. The disappointment was obvious. Felt, Anastasia, and Priscilla were clearly unsuitable. Only Crusch and Emilia were more so. Between the two, he pondered for a few seconds and made a choice.
Four wings spread. A contract array appeared in front of Emilia. "I, Volcanica, acknowledge Emilia as the one with the qualifications to become queen, and I am willing to pledge eternal loyalty to Lady Emilia!"
Puck suddenly appeared. "A master-servant contract?! Lia, quickly accept it!"
"Ah?" Emilia, startled, subconsciously accepted. The contract merged into her body.
Volcanica let out a huge sigh of relief. He glanced at Ren, saw he had no expression, and quickly transformed into a blue light, entering the contract.
Ren said, "Congratulations, Emilia. You are now the Queen of the Luganica Kingdom."
"That's great! Emilia's dream has come true!" March 7th clapped.
"This…" Emilia nodded blankly. Not just her, everyone present had their minds blank. Before they could understand anything, the choice seemed to have been determined.
