"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 158: Parseltongue?
Dumbledore closed his eyes, immersing himself in the memory.
Wyzett had organized everything with meticulous care; even viewing the memory directly posed no risk. And even if there were, nothing in it could trouble Dumbledore.
When Dumbledore opened his eyes, Wyzett immediately asked, "Headmaster Dumbledore, did you find anything useful?"
Dumbledore shook his head. "I could sense the chill and malice... but beyond that, there isn't much else to go on."
"But that's still a clue." Wyzett's tone remained calm. He rubbed his thumb and forefinger together, as if trying to piece scattered information into something whole. "The fact that you could hear the voice means at least one thing—the sound in the memory is real, not just my imagination."
Dumbledore nodded, waiting quietly as Wyzett gathered his thoughts.
Wyzett instinctively pulled out his notebook and began organizing the clues:
"Salazar Slytherin's Chamber... his heir... a petrification curse brimming with murderous intent... the victim from fifty years ago... Voldemort..."
But he wasn't only recalling these facts—he was also searching through memories from his previous life.
Those fan-made videos rarely had much dialogue, mostly film clips set to dramatic music...
He pressed his wand to his temple, searching for any fragment from his past life that might help.
Since Harry was the protagonist of the Harry Potter series, he focused on scenes involving him.
He saw Harry pressing his hands to someone's face, the skin blackening and peeling away as if eaten by acid...
He saw Harry casting a brilliant Patronus, a stag driving off a horde of Dementors...
He saw Harry wielding a sword, a shadow looming overhead. Without hesitation, Harry thrust the blade deep into the gaping maw of a giant serpent...
That was it!
Wyzett scribbled a word in his notebook: Giant Serpent.
But... what kind of snake could petrify its victims?
He pondered this, drawing a line between "Giant Serpent" and "Petrification."
Dumbledore glanced at the notes. "Wyzett, are you suggesting that what attacked Mrs. Norris was a giant serpent?"
"Yes, Headmaster Dumbledore!" Wyzett nodded. "Slytherin's house emblem is a snake. It would be perfectly reasonable for him to have kept a giant serpent."
"A very good theory," Dumbledore praised. "But there's still a problem—if it is a giant serpent, how does it move through Hogwarts without being seen?"
Wyzett knew that Dumbledore could learn about much of what happened at Hogwarts through the magical portraits.
He could only venture another guess. "Maybe it has other magical abilities?"
"A giant serpent that can turn invisible and cast petrification curses..." Dumbledore stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Looks like I'll need to trouble Newt..."
"Oh! Speaking of Newt... I almost forgot something." He tapped his forehead lightly. "We went to Africa not long ago..."
"Those murals!" Wyzett's eyes lit up. "Mr. Scamander told me about the African wizards' murals depicting the separation of Obscurus!"
"Yes, there was so much to handle at the start of term, my head's been spinning." Dumbledore nodded. "I'll dig them out when I return to my office."
"School should be a place for learning..." Wyzett sighed. "We really need to resolve this heir issue quickly—whether he's Voldemort or not."
The word "heir" sparked a sudden flash of inspiration.
"Giant serpent..."
He added another line after "giant serpent":
"Salazar Slytherin's heir..."
"Magical talent..." Wyzett pressed his lips together, searching his mind for anything snake-related. "A magical talent connected to snakes... Parseltongue!"
He looked up at Dumbledore, speaking rapidly, "Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim!"
"That famous alchemist and 'medical genius'! In the sixteenth century, he identified a magical talent called 'Parseltongue'!"
"But this gift goes back even further! Salazar Slytherin himself, in the Middle Ages, was known for it—wizards called him a 'Serpent Speaker'!"
"And even earlier—Herpo the Foul! According to ancient Greek texts, he could communicate with snakes, possibly the earliest Parselmouth in history!"
"Philippus... Hohenheim?" Dumbledore's eyelid twitched.
He'd always thought his own name was long, but the one Wyzett had just rattled off was even more of a tongue-twister.
Combined with "alchemist" and "medical genius," the name sounded so familiar, but he just couldn't recall it.
"He had a simpler name too..." Wyzett said. "Paracelsus. His name's on a Chocolate Frog card."
"Paracelsus!" Dumbledore chuckled, shaking his head. "Young minds have such sharp memories. I can't keep up anymore."
Wyzett pinched his earlobe, smiling sheepishly. "I just happened to read about him recently, Headmaster. That's the only reason I remembered."
Dumbledore waved a hand. "You have to accept getting old. I don't mind admitting it."
Wyzett was still mulling over Parseltongue. "Headmaster, why would I suddenly develop the ability to speak Parseltongue?"
"It's a magical instinct... but if I was born with it, why didn't it work when I met the Runespoor?"
"I'm afraid I can't explain that just yet," Dumbledore said, shaking his head. "But perhaps we can try using it."
He raised his wand toward the window, this time lingering a little longer.
After a moment, a coiled snake appeared outside, struggling as it floated into the hospital wing.
It was an XXX-rated magical creature—an Ashwinder, its body ashen gray-white, round eyes glowing with red light.
The instant the Ashwinder arrived, Wyzett heard a shrill voice:
"Let me go! Let me go! I don't have much time! I still need to lay my eggs!"
Wyzett glanced at Dumbledore, testing, "Headmaster Dumbledore... did you hear it speak?"
Dumbledore's smile was unmistakable as he shook his head. "What did it say?"
Wyzett repeated, "It wants us to let it go... it needs to hurry and lay its eggs."
Dumbledore continued, "Try to calm it down—tell it not to worry, I'll send it back very soon." 🔥 Want to read the next 50+ chapters RIGHT NOW?
