"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 159: A Plan to Lure Out the Snake
"Try to comfort it?" Wyzett mused, then slipped into Custodis Meditatio—the Guardian's Meditation—letting his senses sharpen to every magical nuance.
As he gazed at the Ashwinder and began to speak, his mouth felt entirely different, as if his very tongue was humming with magic. The sensation was less like ordinary speech and more like channeling a spell.
"Don't be afraid... We'll let you go very soon..."
A ghostly, serpentine hissing flowed from his lips—strange, yet deeply familiar. Instinctively, Wyzett understood every nuance of those sibilant sounds.
The Ashwinder understood as well. It stopped thrashing, coiling itself on the floor, suddenly docile and patient.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, it worked." Wyzett turned to Dumbledore, this time speaking in plain English rather than Parseltongue.
He studied the now-calm Ashwinder, mind already racing ahead.
"Headmaster, if I use Parseltongue—this unique magical gift—wouldn't that give me a better chance of tracking down the 'heir'?"
Dumbledore only smiled, eyes twinkling with curiosity. "And how do you plan to do that?"
Wyzett murmured, "I want to run an experiment first... and then, lure the snake out."
"'Lure the snake out,' hmm?" Dumbledore blinked, lips curving into a smile. "A most fitting turn of phrase. Tell me your plan—let's see if I can offer any advice."
Wyzett nodded, flipping through his notebook to earlier pages.
"Headmaster, when I was researching Animagus transformation, I focused on the properties of Mandrake leaves. You remember that, don't you?"
"Of course!" Dumbledore nodded enthusiastically. "I'm positively itching to see your article in Transfiguration Today."
Wyzett cleared his throat. "It might be a while yet... So far, I've only finished the outline and gathered my sources."
"That's still remarkable progress," Dumbledore waved a hand encouragingly, a warm smile on his face. "From the start of term to Halloween, you've already accomplished so much!"
"Just that I know of: your ongoing Animagus project, mastery of advanced mental magic, weather charms, Coolic..."
Madam Pomfrey bustled into the hospital wing, cutting him off. "Time's up—class is about to start! I doubt Mr. Lovegood wants to be late."
Dumbledore stood, smiling. "We have been chatting for quite a while."
"Thank you for the reminder, Madam Pomfrey!" Wyzett replied quickly—he certainly didn't want to miss class.
He pushed his stool back into place and turned to Dumbledore. "Headmaster, I'll go organize my thoughts. Once I'm ready, I'll come by your office."
"Excellent." Dumbledore did the same with his own stool. "Just come straight to the headmaster's office when you're ready. The password is 'Cockroach Cluster.'"
"'Cockroach Cluster'..." Wyzett repeated, committing it to memory. "Got it—I'm off to class!"
Watching Wyzett dash away, Dumbledore sighed. "Ah, youth! So much energy!"
"You're still young yourself, what with all that candy you carry around," Madam Pomfrey scolded, stuffing a bag of Cockroach Clusters into his pocket. "Try to show some restraint!"
"Thank you, Poppy," Dumbledore said with a twinkle, then turned to the Ashwinder. "Time to send this little one home."
In the days Wyzett spent perfecting his idea, talk of the Chamber of Secrets never ceased.
Especially in History of Magic, where Hermione boldly interrupted Professor Binns to clarify and expand on the details—setting off a new wave of speculation and debate.
The guessing game over Salazar Slytherin's heir was relentless.
No one knows which student started it, but soon a wild theory took hold: Filch was right all along—Harry was the "heir."
The wizarding world had an old saying: "The dragon slayer will one day become the dragon." It had even become a popular bedtime story.
The tale goes: a wizard braves countless dangers to slay a fire-breathing dragon, but as the dragon dies, it curses him. When the wizard returns home, green scales begin to sprout, sparks shoot from his nose, and in time, he transforms into a dragon, awaiting the next challenger.
The story wasn't pure fantasy. While no such dragon-curse existed, a magical illness called Dragon Pox did produce green rashes and other symptoms described in the tale.
Perhaps the original storyteller had drawn inspiration from Dragon Pox to create such a legend.
Applied to Harry, the fable became a metaphor for his "Boy Who Lived" status.
Harry was the wizard who defeated Voldemort, and Voldemort, in dying, left behind a curse—so that Harry would become the next Dark Lord.
There was no logic to it, but it was magical enough to spread like wildfire. Some Muggle-born students even believed it, and began to avoid Harry.
...
As another weekend rolled around, with no new attacks, talk of the Chamber and the heir began to die down.
Some students lost interest in the rumors, deciding that what happened to Mrs. Norris might have been nothing more than a prank on Filch...
At last, Wyzett finished crafting his magical device and brought it to the headmaster's office.
Fawkes the phoenix looked older than ever, a third of his feathers gone, exposing fiery red skin beneath.
He seemed melancholy, as if ill—eyelids half-closed, his once-bright eyes now dim.
Wyzett had prepared the berries with extra care, making them soft and easy to swallow.
Even so, Fawkes could only manage slow, trembling gulps, his neck quivering as he let the sweet juice slide down his throat.
Once Fawkes had eaten, Dumbledore returned to his seat. "He should be ready for rebirth before Christmas break. Until then, it will be a difficult stretch."
After one last glance at Fawkes, Wyzett steadied himself and sat across from Dumbledore, producing a softly glowing magical device.
It was oval-shaped, etched with ancient Runes, a single amethyst set in its center—the source of its gentle light.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, I created this device using Parseltongue. It's a simple magical detector—an early warning system for the giant serpent's movements."
Dumbledore picked up the device, examining it closely. "Exquisite work, Wyzett. The craftsmanship is truly impressive!" 🔥 Want to read the next 50+ chapters RIGHT NOW?
