Chapter 315 - 《Harry Potter- Ravenclaw》Chapter 183: The Commandment’s Covenant

"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 183: The Commandment's Covenant

Dumbledore's gaze grew distant and grave. "The Commandment is an exceedingly ancient form of magic—perhaps older than ritual magic itself, older even than the runes…"

"By forging a magical covenant, you gain certain powers. But at the same time… you must submit to the contract, and accept the limitations it imposes."

"A magical contract?" Wyzett caught the complexity in Dumbledore's eyes and looked again at the silver magical device.

"Is it like an Unbreakable Vow? If you break the contract, is the price… your life?"

"That's one of the known punishments," Dumbledore replied with a weary sigh. "But what else it might bring, I can't say for certain."

"That's precisely why I didn't want you to acquire the Commandment. It may grant you new abilities, but it binds you to its terms for life…"

"I wouldn't mind such a burden, but you… Wyzett, you're still so young. You have limitless potential. The Commandment, for you, may be less a blessing and more a chain."

Wyzett pressed on, "Bound for life? If I violate the contract, could it affect those around me? How am I supposed to understand… what I'm actually bound to?"

"To be honest, this is the first time I've encountered such a thing, so I can't say for sure either…" Dumbledore interlaced his fingers, thumbs tracing slow circles.

He picked up a quill and parchment from his desk. "Normally, if you wish to forge a Commandment covenant, you begin by defining the nature of the Commandment itself…"

"You pursue the contract with a clear purpose—choosing the right location… the right time…"

As he spoke, Dumbledore scribbled notes with swift, practiced strokes, each sentence flowing seamlessly onto the parchment.

"Beyond that, you must consider which ritual magics are appropriate… what magical artifacts are required… and any number of auxiliary conditions…"

"When all the requirements are met, the Commandment will call out to you—and you must answer."

"Once the covenant is forged, you must live according to the Commandment, and its effects will begin to manifest." At this, he finished writing and set the quill aside.

As Wyzett listened, he recalled Salazar Slytherin's memories of breeding the basilisk, comparing those steps to what Dumbledore described—and found striking similarities.

For example, Salazar Slytherin had chosen the Chamber as the location for his basilisk: a deliberate selection of place. The alchemical and ritual arrays were the necessary ritual magic.

The Commandment's "call" mirrored the moment when, after communing with the basilisk egg, the egg itself responded—trembling in answer…

Wyzett glanced at the neatly organized parchment. "So, Headmaster Dumbledore, if I want to know the terms of my Commandment, I need to reconstruct these steps? Is that right?"

"I can't guarantee it," Dumbledore admitted, shaking his head. He tapped the desk, and a tea set and several plates of delicate cakes appeared as if by magic.

"Your case is unique, so I don't have a better solution at present… But recreating the process of forging the Commandment covenant should reveal its nature. It's worth a try."

"Then I'll give it a shot!" Wyzett murmured. "Headmaster, I'll draft the entire process—please let me know if I've missed anything."

Seeing Wyzett's earnest expression, Dumbledore stroked his beard, a smile flickering across his face. "Of course. I'd be delighted to help!"

Such an expression meant Wyzett was adapting quickly, showing no discouragement—instead, he was actively seeking solutions.

Dumbledore poured tea into two cups. "You seem rather confident. Where do you think we should begin?"

"Thank you!" Wyzett accepted the cup. "I'm not sure I'd call it confidence. I just think, since it's happened, it's best to face the problem head-on."

"Indeed, that's the best way," Dumbledore said approvingly, dropping a few sugar cubes into his tea.

Wyzett opened his notebook and began jotting down ideas. "The right location… the fourth floor… the room that once held the Mirror of Erised…"

"And of course, Salazar Slytherin's Chamber should be considered as well. I can't overlook either of them…"

"The right time… My encounter with Voldemort last year was at night, and I fainted last night as well… Both times were close to midnight… So, midnight it is."

"The right ritual magic…" He sipped his tea, thinking back to the ritual array from Salazar Slytherin's memories—the one that evolved from an alchemical circle.

He pressed his wand to his temple, using mental magic to recall the details, then managed to sketch the ritual array and annotate the important points.

"Geminio!" He tapped his notebook with his wand, duplicating the page with the ritual array.

"Headmaster Dumbledore, could you look at this? Is this ritual circle usable as-is?"

Dumbledore accepted the page. "Very good! Let me have a look…"

Everything was going even more smoothly than he'd hoped. Wyzett was taking initiative, and Dumbledore found himself unusually at ease. No wonder Snape had insisted on continuing their weekly private lessons after last year—Wyzett was a rare student indeed.

While Dumbledore carefully examined the diagram, Wyzett continued refining the process for forging the Commandment covenant, drawing on his memories and understanding of ritual magic.

He frequently paused to ask Dumbledore questions, determined to clarify every uncertainty and deepen his grasp of the Commandment.

Through this process, he realized he needed very little in the way of magical artifacts or auxiliary items. In the end, he settled on just one: a fragment of basilisk shed skin.

He also sorted through the entire sequence of events: first, the encounter with Voldemort last year, where he'd gained the Commandment by chance; then, last night's experience, where touching the basilisk skin fragment had triggered The Wizard's Practical Combat Guide, allowing the Commandment to be recorded within it.

From all this, he concluded—a fragment of basilisk skin was the key to reconstructing the Commandment covenant.

Once that was determined, the rest of the process fell into place. With Salazar Slytherin's methods as reference, and Dumbledore's guidance, it was hardly a daunting task…
