Chapter 40: How to Make Phoenix Tears?

Building a magical machine to produce Coolic wasn't simple.

Fred and George took it seriously, asking Wizette about the sketchbook's creation process multiple times until they got all the details straight.

The sketchbook he'd given Luna could draw three-dimensional figures—not just because of the magical power inside, but because the crystal pen's design mattered too.

Wizette had combined ballpoint pen mechanics with magical engineering, minimizing magical powder waste to extend the pen's lifespan.

"Who would've thought!" George sighed. "I'm starting to understand why Dad loves Muggles. They're brilliant!"

"Who would've thought! The thought you put into this gift..." Fred grinned mischievously. "That's probably... ahem... right?"

Wizette focused hard on his notes, not looking up. "Luna likes drawing."

Luna kept her head down too, drawing a bouncing fawn in her sketchbook.

Neville raised his hand. "Do we need... self-stirring cauldrons? Otherwise Wizette will have to brew a lot of potions, right?"

"Self-stirring cauldrons?" Fred blinked. "That's not a bad idea!"

George nodded in agreement. "We can help. Definitely get you a good price!"

Wizette's composure returned. He looked up. "Coolic's base mixture is special. Self-stirring cauldrons won't maintain quality. Don't worry—I'll figure something out."

Fred sighed. "True. Among non-Slytherin students, you're the only one who walks into Snape's office and walks out alive."

George spoke dramatically. "More than alive! Ron told me—out of all the non-Slytherin students, you're the only one who got an 'O'!"

Hannah added seriously, "I heard from Gabriel and the others—apparently the only 'O' in years! Super rare!"

Neville asked curiously, "These years? How many years?"

"Since Snape became a professor, obviously!" George slung an arm around Neville's shoulders. "Haven't you lost points before?"

Cold sweat broke out on Neville's forehead. "I have!"

"Look at you now!" George patted Neville's upper arm. "Before, you would've stuttered and trembled at the same time."

Leaving the corridor, Wizette headed to Snape's office with his finished thesis.

He planned to visit Professor McGonagall's office after the private lesson to submit the paper.

"Five points from Ravenclaw!"

Wizette's left foot crossed the threshold. Snape docked points immediately.

Wizette wasn't surprised. Yesterday's Quidditch match—Slytherin had suffered another crushing defeat.

The Golden Snitch had delayed for ages yesterday, giving Wizette too much time to score.

Even when Draco caught the Snitch, it only ended the match, freezing the score at four hundred ten to two hundred.

"Begin!" Snape said coldly.

"Expecto Patronum!"

Wizette raised his wand. A silver phoenix flew from the tip, hovering quietly in midair. The entire office seemed to warm.

"So it really did turn into this..." Wizette murmured. When he lowered his wand, the silver phoenix vanished.

After completing his phoenix Animagus transformation, his Patronus had been unstable, sometimes taking different shapes.

Until now. This time, his Patronus finally stabilized into phoenix form.

When Snape taught him the Patronus Charm, he'd mentioned something—overly distinctive corporeal Patronuses often revealed important information.

Like Wizette's phoenix Patronus. Definitely distinctive.

Thinking this, Wizette asked, "Professor Snape, there's a way to hide a Patronus, right?"

"At least you have some self-awareness." Snape raised an eyebrow. "Five points to Ravenclaw! For ordinary wizards... ordinary wizards can't summon Patronuses..."

"For wizards who can summon Patronuses, if you want to hide a corporeal Patronus, you can mix positive and negative emotions when casting the charm..."

After awarding points, he began explaining directly how to hide one's corporeal Patronus.

Wizette had a feeling—when Snape explained this content, his tone seemed less icy.

Snape introduced two methods. The first was universal: weaken emotions while casting, naturally making the Patronus weak and difficult to maintain corporeal form.

The second method Snape thought of on the spot might only work for Wizette and needed testing to confirm effectiveness.

Wizette tried the second method, pressing his wand to his heart and chanting: "Amato, Animo, Animato, Animagus."

His body transformed. He became a golden eagle, then changed back quickly.

"Expecto Patronum!"

Wizette cast the Patronus Charm again, confirming Snape's theory. A golden eagle Patronus flew from his wand tip.

Watching the golden eagle Patronus hovering in the air, Wizette couldn't help but make connections. "Professor Snape, Obscurus energy actually contains Transfiguration magic too..."

Snape nodded. "Then stop wasting words. Try it!"

The third attempt began. Wizette's theory proved correct—his Patronus became a cloud of mist, like the first time he'd cast the Patronus Charm.

"First time using the Patronus Charm, summoned a corporeal Patronus..." Snape rubbed his temples. "Get the cauldron out first."

"Professor Snape, I actually have another question." Wizette opened his notebook. "I want to try making phoenix tears, but I failed. Could you..."

Before Wizette finished, Snape spoke. "Normally, creating materials from XXXX-level or higher magical creatures isn't as simple as the Patronus Charm."

"You need ritual magic combined with the Patronus Charm, consuming large quantities of materials with relevant properties, then undergoing lengthy incubation. Only then can you obtain small amounts of corresponding materials."

"Lengthy incubation?" Wizette's heart stirred. "Professor Snape, how long exactly?"

"To create a complete Runespoor egg takes about three months, plus brains from seven snake species."

"Professor Snape, what's the most critical factor?"

"Time is most important! This ritual magic must be performed outdoors with constant weather. Sunny means always sunny. Rainy means constant rain."

"Time is most important?" After hearing Snape's description, Wizette suddenly thought of a combination—failed phoenix tears and Ancient Magic power incubated through time...
