Angela's feminine voice wafted " This is gonna take a while, we should probably find somewhere to talk"
Kailen nodded,entered the car,leaving the door open.
She followed him inside , the sound of the door closing behind her resounding in their ears .
Kailen sat in the car with indifference, his gaze lingering through the glasses ,peering through the clouds as the sun's dissapearance opened the curtains for night's arrival .
His emotions were in turmoil,however he was trying his best to be calm.
What was so important that the she wanted to say that the system said he should agree to it,and that it had some sort of connection to him? .
Angela 's voice finally rung, snapping him out of his thoughts .
" I see things,visions or whatever you'd like to call them"
Kailen nodded ,awaiting her next words.
Shocked that he didn't react as though she had said the most absurd thing ever , she continued
" Ten years ago ,I had one of these visions.
In the vision I saw a phrase written on a white board." She paused,as though she wanted to make sure she had recalled the memory accurately,then proceeded .
"The Terror Surge Syndicate - New Alexandria City.
That was all I saw " Kailen's silence indicated he was listening , hence she proceeded .
" I was clearly surprised ,what organisation was this?. Why had I never heard of them? . I am one of the top special ops agents in the Federation military, armed with intelligence people at a certain level cannot have access to,yet even I, had no idea what this organisation was. To my surprise,after questioning my superiors,even they ,had no idea about what this organisation was . I was given the permission to form a task force ,comprising of ten elite special ops agents . We moved here a few months later after that, with determination to find out what this Terror Surge Syndicate was"
Kailen felt something was amiss. ' Just because of a vision she saw,they just allowed her to assemble a team of ten elite special ops agents, to come to New Alexandria City?. I don't know anything about the military but it's common sense can't just assemble special ops agents just for an absurd reason like that .Well,the time dilation artifact said I should just listen and agree to her proposition,so let's hear her out'
She sighed ,a tinge of melancholy in her eyes,then proceeded " It's been 10 years,and still we've found nothing. I visited the secret base this morning to probe whether or not my team members have found anything, but as usual, there was no news. One thing led to another ,then I encountered the video of you causing havoc at the black market on one of our base's surveillance footages" She suddenly paused talking , trying her best to hold in her laughter ,recalling the time where Kailen raised the middle finger .
Kailen's stiff and cold expression at the moment as he listened to her made it even more difficult for her to hold it in ,however ,she managed to do so, managing to inwardly muse a blessing .
' That was close, this guy's already pissed. If I laugh at him,he might throw me out of his car' Angela sighed with relief.
' What's with that weird expression on her face?.It's as if she's trying to avoid throwing up' Clueless to what she was thinking,he wondered how her expression had become dramatic all of a sudden.
Then it clicked ' Right , must be the middle finger thing.She did just mention coming across the video of the black market after all. Is she trying not to laugh?. Gotta admit,even I find what I did funny'
Kailen sighed inwardly , he had become some sort of comedian .
'' Sorry ,must be something I ate" Angela made up an excuse,then continued ,oblivious to Kialen's train of thought.
" I saw another vision at the base, this time.. erm, can I get a pen and a sheet or something ?"
Kailen nodded,luckily,the car came with a pen and a diary,some sort of souvenir for the purchase.
He retrieved what she required, a brown diary and a pen ,then handed it over to her.
A few seconds later,she handed the opened diary over to him.
Kailen looked into the diary "Terror Surge Syndicate- New Alexandria City- Kailen Darkhaven-Terror Surge Syndicate....

" Why is my name here?" Kailen's gaze lingered on Angela.
She sighed " Like hell I know... However I assumed the vision meant that you have something that can help us locate the syndicate. This was why I came to find you"
' Is this what the time dilation artifact meant by what she had to say having some sort of connection to me?'Kailen mused inwardly. However Kailen's intuition gnawed that this was not all there was to what the system had said.
'There's no use worrying about that now,I trust the system.Im sure with time I'll figure the remaining piece to the puzzle out' Kailen mused .
' Now what do I have that may help her to locate this organization ?'
Had it not been for the system telling him to agree with her ,he would have regarded everything she had to say as baseless,some sort of plot to coerce him into joining her course for a selfish reason. Visions? Who has those kind of things?.
Even now,he was still skeptical .
However the time dilation artifact had told him to agree to what she had to say. So he was willing to treat what she said as the truth at face value.
Since that was the case,he had to approach the matter as everything she had said being true,the visions were true. The matter of her lying was out of the picture ,which meant that she was being honest ,further implying he had to consider what he had that could help her locate the syndicate.
Kailen looked into the diary again, for a while ,then sighed
" What could I possibly have that can locate this organisation?"
Angela sighed her gaze lingering on the words in the diary , " Could it be that I misinterpreted it?"
" No,I don't think so. I think whatever revealed this particular vision to you want to point out that there's some sort of lead I have that can locate the syndicate. Hence,my name,then the syndicate's name follows.
Anyway ,did you write the TS down there by accident ?" Kailen voiced.
" No,I saw it too it was-"
" Wait,I think I recognize this symbol."
" What do you mean?" Angela was surprised ,her heart was beating erratically. If Kailen really did have a lead, then she would be really relieved. For the past few years, she had questioned herself,whether or not her teammates and her should abandon operation Terror Surge and return back to Achile city,the capital, however ,she had decided to persist. It seemed her efforts would not be in vain.
" That bastard,there's a guy that sits behind the counter at the bookshop ,serving as the door way to the black market. The guy had a tattoo of this symbol on his forehand " Kailen voiced, pointing at the TS symbol.
" Then let's head there right now!" Angela voiced ,her voice erratic. She had lost her cool. Ten years of searching ,and finding nothing, and finally, clue!.
" When I left however,he was not there . There was someone else at the counter. However, we can head there to see if he's around now". Kailen was internally shocked ,the assumption that he had a clue to locate the unknown organisation had been proven true. Plus,the time dilation artifact had urged him to agree to her demand,so he had to oblige,especially when he was eager to find out what more connected him to all this.
Quickly,the duo drove to Maple square,as it was about 10 minutes drive from the law enforcement agency .
"Do you have a mask?"
Kailen asked .
" I'm special ops agent,young man ,of course I have a mask. However I didn't think I'd need one. Wasn't prepared for such a development you know. Also, we are just frequenting a bookshop. Many of the people in there are not even aware that they are literally sitting on the black market. Is there a need for a mask? The actual black market has been destroyed right?"
'Why didn't I think of that?' He mused inwardly.
[ Because you are dumber than you think you are Tsk!]
Kailen nodded,ignoring the Time Dilation Artifact ,as they both came out of the car.
Individuals moved around,going about with their normal business. Cars frequented the vicinity, couples sat on benches located at the square, as the night lights glittered, casting shadows of people in the vicinity.
Maple square was a place full of trees , merry go rounds,other recreational activities such as game centres,clubs ,shopping malls,and a few other shops,including the book shop.
They had to cross to the other end of the street,where the bookstore was located.
" Something is wrong. These guys usually open the bookshop for 24 hours,why is it completely locked tonight?. It seems no one is inside" Angela voiced right when they were about to cross the road.
" It's only natural they've abandoned this place after what happened today. Since the black market has been destroyed, the owner decided to change locations" Kailen mused outwardly. His gaze lingered on the closed sign outside the shop. Also,there were no lights on from where they both stood. It seemed no one was in side the shop.
" Perhaps we should go inside and check it out ?"Angela suggested
" I don't think so. There's no one inside. However I can hear some sounds,beeping sounds " Kailen voiced. He had used shadow manipulation to try and notice the presence of people's shadows in the shop,however he had found none. He could hear some beeping sounds,albeit not very clearly .
" I can hear some sounds though, it's like beeping sounds , I hear it more clearly... Damn it.. Everybody get the hell out of here !. There's a bomb in that bookshop and it will go off any time soon" Angela screamed at the top of her voice..

Just when Angela finished speaking she didn't even waste a second .
Her figure blurred ,then she disappeared.
Kailen didn't question her, following in her footsteps,having ignored the car he had bought. He was strong,but not overconfident ,he could just purchase another car later,but he only had one life.
A special ops agent that was experienced enough to deduce beeping sounds were that of a bomb ,then disappear right after warning the crowd without making any attempt to play superhero, obviously deemed the threat of the bomb extremely lethal and had probably deduced that it would go off in the next few seconds.
Proving his deduction true, just as they had bolted quite a distance away from the Maple square, a booming sound akin to that of an explosion resounded in their ears ,drawimg their gazes towards the direction of the sounds,as the noticed mushroom clouds forming in the atmosphere.
Massive screams tinged with overtones of terror resounded in the distance ,the sky assuming a slightly crimson demeanor .
" Damnation,that bomb can even harm an S ranked awakener . I can't imagine the kind of genocide that has occured at Maple Square. Just how did these bastards manage to land their hands on something that is only produced in the military?"
Angela cursed as she stared into the distance staring at the mushroom clouds,her expression incredulous.
Kailen's eyes lit up with surprise " A bomb that could harm an S ranked awakener?"
Angela chuckled at the slight change of expression from the look in his eyes " S ranked are not harmless. How do you think the Federation Law Enforcement Agency deal with some serious criminals that are S ranked?. Its not just with the Strength of S ranked,stuff such as S ranked crafted weapons, such as swords, bombs etc,plays a role "
Kailen maintained a calm disposition at her words, however his eyes betrayed him due to the subtle expression of shock it revealed " S ranked bombs?, weapons. Then can't they be used in the war against the diabolic beasts?"
" These weapons cannot be easily reproduced. Lots of resources and wealth are needed to craft them ,so only a few of them exist. This is why they've not made that much of a difference in the war with the diabolic beasts. Considering the large number of S ranked diabolic beasts roaming the world,do you think a few weapons can make a difference ?"
Angela sighed,at humanity's helplessness .
Kailen nodded, she had a point though. However his eyes had been opened today , it seemed the Federation government could really not be underestimated.
They had what it took to keep S ranked who went too far under control. He had to be careful to not get on their bad side.
He was confident that with the system's help, he would grow extremely strong in not a long time. However no matter how strong he became, it would be senseless to find trouble with the Federation Government if they didn't mess with him. After all, they were strong . Also,his goal was to give the diabolic beasts a taste of their own medicine,not to go around messing with the Federation government ,as long as they didn't mess with him.
He focused on a more pressing matter after those train of thoughts " If the deranged awakeners got their hands on an S ranked bomb,then it means someone in the military could be helping them out"
Angela sighed then nodded . If Kailen's conjecture was true,which was highly likely ,then it seemed this Terror Surge Syndicate probably had deep roots in the Federation.
" This is really troublesome " A worried expression appeared on her face.
" At least we have a lead " Kailen added.
" But how do we find him? " Angela sighed, then added .
" You can have your team run some checks on him. Follow surveillance footages ,to locate where he was last spotted in this city?" Kailen suggested .
Angela nodded " Seems you are more cooperative ,and have a mind for this job than I thought young man"
Kailen shook his head, there was no way he would tell her he was only being cooperative because the time dilation artifact had influenced him to do so.
" Seen a few movies. Hit me up in case of anything related to the Terror Surge Syndicate "
" Will do, teammates and I will celebrate finally finding a lead after ten years today. You could join us, I'll introduce you to them,then we'll have some barbecue ,get to know them?"
" Don't do friends, don't think I ever will"
" Alright young man,your loss. Anyway will you participate in the college entrance exams?"
" Not really"
" A pity" Angela exchanged contacts with Kailen,then stared at his dissapearing back.
" A pity, he could have brought glory to the academy"
Little did she know that Kailen had said he won't participate because of the special recommendation he had received.
" But at least ,thanks to him,I have some closure ,the Terror Surge Syndicate really do exist, and I've not been crazy for the past ten years . It's time to find that bastard who owned the black market. But for now, I need to grill some barbecue"
Angela took her phone ,dialed a number.
" Boss, have you seen the news, the black market just got -"
"Yeah, saw it .was there when the bomb went off"
" What?"
" Long story. Gather the others and let's all meet at the base, we have a lead,that calls for barbecue"

Kailen sighed as he stared at the ceiling .
Terror Surge Syndicate , " Just how am I connected to this organization. System? Any help?"
[ Why do you call me system?. I'm not a system you know. You gave me that name. Tsk!]
" But you call me host?"
[ That's because you called me system in the first place!. Is that not what the system in those novels you earthlings read call their hosts?]
" This... So what do you want me to call you?"
[ I'm a time dilation artifact]
" Do you actually expect me to believe you are simply an artifact ?"
The time dilation artifact went silent for a while, clearly not expecting Kailen to blurt out those words ,then voiced .
[ Believe what you want,call me what you want Tsk!.]
"Classic misdirection, I touched a nerve err. But seriously,won't you tell me anything about the Terror Surge Syndicate?"
[If you cannot solve these little problems on your own, then it would mean I picked the wrong person .Tsk!]
" Right. Looks I'm on my own concerning this then. At least we have a lead. In case of anything, the Principal will contact me, for now, let's just focus on becoming stronger. Also, the time Dilation Artifact used the word earthlings again... Huh .. interesting"
Kailen thoughts lingered slightly on the fact that ,the time dilation artifact also mentioned something about picking him when it made the statement that if he couldn't solve these little problems on his own,then it picked the wrong person .
" Seems my conjecture that there's a purpose the time dilation artifact has for me is proven. But for what exactly was I picked? .
Never mind, let's just focus on getting stronger"
With that,the young man donned in his pajamas , drifted off. Like any other day of being a calamity magnet,today's events had taking a toll on him mentally, he needed the rest.

A black haired boy of about 11 years stood before an older man with a healthy physique.
The boy seemed to resemble the man closely, as though he were a smaller version of the older male. They were completely alike .
The two were donned in some sort of gym wear, standing in a courtyard at the back of a house.
The boy held a katana that complemented his small physique,panting heavily with small bruises across his face.
The man seemed unharmed. Clearly, it was obvious that in whatever exchange has transpired between them, the man had won.
" You seem to have improved son. In a few years time , I'm sure you'll be able to contend with me"
The man walked towards the boy with an affectionate smile, patting his head affectionately.
" Tsk ,dad,you say that because you enjoy beating me up everyday !"
The boy threw a tantrum.
" Oh come on, like I always say, even if you don't become an awakener when you turn sixteen ,at least, as a normal person, you will have some normal means of self defence right? . If you manage to awaken too, you won't have to go through the stress of training in how to use a sword type weapon, especially if you go for a katana"
" Heard that million times dad. I'll take your word for it. Just you watch , I'll beat you up one day!"
" Kailen , Honey, food is ready " A feminine voice resounded in their ears from inside the house,causing smiles to appear on their faces.
" It's lasagna day right?"
" Yeah my favorite "
Quickly the two headed inside,it was time to eat.

Kailen's eyes drifted open, a melancholic expression in his eyes.
" I miss them so much I'm dreaming about the past. I won't cry any more, I miss them but I've mourned them enough" However ,his eyes told an entirely different story,they were moist. Before the tears fell,he managed to hold it in. No more crying, he thought. That wouldn't make him strong!. He had to become strong to avenge their deaths.
Kailen jolted out of the bed, about to head into the washroom.
Ding!
[ The one month period is up. Would you like to enter the time dialtion artifact now?]
" About time "

[ What a brainless question , anyway , yes. You can. You can delay entering the pocket world for as long as you want, However when you enter the pocket world ,you cannot leave until the time limit is up.
Note also that the more you delay entry into the pocket world, the more you delay with further opportunities to enter .
After all,the one month time period before you can enter the pocket world again can only be activated after you have entered the pocket world and the time you've spent in the artifact is up , so if you delay entry,another opportunity to enter will only be put on hold, since the one month time period before you can enter the pocket world will not be activated for another moment of entry to present itself ]
Kailen almost staggered and fell on the floor. He could never get used to the insults of the time dilation artifact.
He however focused on the words that followed the insults.
He nodded,getting a hang of what the time dilation artifact meant.
Quickly,he made up his mind .
" I agree "
Kailen dissapeared from the room.

Meanwhile social media handles of New Alexandria City were flooding with the shocked expressions of the city's populace .
The massacre of Maple Square had thrown the city into a period of mourning .
Various game centres,amusement parks, shopping malls, and other recreational centers in the city had been destroyed alongside a large number of people.
The individuals responsible for the genocide had gone all out.
"Who could do such a thing!"
" It's definitely those deranged awakeners !"
"Those distasteful bastards deserve to die"
" I lost my husband and daughter due to them"
" Today was supposed to be our wedding anniversary,my wife went to the shopping mall to get some candles for our memorable night, only to become part of the casualties . Just which group of wicked psychos could do such a thing!"
" The FLEA should do something about this!"
" Yeah,how could something like this happen right under their noses!"
People vented as much as they could however the damage had been done.
The unknown assailant(s) responsible for the massacre remained a mystery.
The FLEA held a press conference ,encouraging the citizens that the culprits behind the incident would be found, however it was obviously just a way to calm the citizens down .
It was obvious that the FLEA (Federation Law Enforcement Agency) branch in the city was aware that the black market had relocated and therefore decided to raze their previous base to the ground, however they decided to keep the matter under the wraps to avoid further drama. Also, there was no way they could locate the culprits.
Their surveillence footages had only sighted the owner of the black market in a car outside the city. However that was all. It was as though the guy had dissapeared into thin air after that .
Furthermore the FLEA didn't know about the Terror Surge Syndicate, as even the superiors of Angela , a high ranked member of then Special Ops department in the Federation Military knew nothing about them. They were practically an organization that didn't exist,after all Angela had only gotten to know that such an organization existed due to her visions. Oblivious to the happenings of the city ,Kailen had disappeared from his room.

Kailen stared at the environs of the pocket world with intrigue.
" Magical. This place is simply magical. Come to think of it, the last time I was in the pocket world, I didn't have the time to explore" Ignoring the lush greenery of the grasses on his he stood, he took time to glance at his surroundings .
He saw the peaks of towering majestic mountains far off in the distance, the rich vegetation of a forest with towering trees of lush greenery a few kilometers away from him also coming to his notice.
As the cool breeze of the morning grazed his skin, he looked into the skies,shocked to find out that a sun had not appeared ,yet it was bright as day.
He decided not to dwell on the strangeness of the pocket world of the time dilation artifact , making a decision to explore the pocket world.
" System, are there any diabolic beasts in the pocket world?, and if I die here,will I die in the real world?"
The time dilation artifact did not respond ,leaving Kailen to figure out things on his own.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance, then summoned Vengeful,his most powerful Shadow Creature. A man could not be too careful after all, he had to protect himself. Who knew what terrifying creatures were hiding in the time dilation artifact.
The shadow wyvern flapped its wings,with Kailen seated atop it's obsidian back, causing the duo to traverse long distances in a few moments.
As the duo traversed the skies,Kailen noticed a few animals moving around in the pocket world.
" Fascinating, it seems just as flora exists in this pocket world,Fauna also exists perfectly "
He noted ,finally come towards the edge of the forest.
" I can't explore the forest very well if we remain flying. Using shadow manipulation can only help me to sense shadows,not see actual stuff . I have decided "
Vengeful landed at the edge of the forest. Kailen landed beside him , the creature turning into a tenebrous mass of shadows that gravitated towards him, embracing his being,forming an obsidian shadow armor around him.
The strength of an S ranked coursed through his being, as his obsidian form ventured into the forest.
Rays of light peered through the tiny gaps in the large foliages of flora, causing tiny spots of light to appear on the grounds of the forest.
As the fresh scent of leaves wafted through Kailen's nostrils, shadow manipulation had been activated , granting him the ability to sense the movements of shadows in the environs.
" A man can't be too careful after -"

Kailen sensed in a split second, a shadow shooting towards his obsidian figure.
The creature however was an unfortunate one.
With swift reflexes,his obsidian figure caught the neck of the serpent in his right hand,then with a squeeze, the creature's neck was squashed, causing red blood to stain his obsidian hands., the creature shaking it's serpentine body for a few seconds before it stopped moving.
Releasing the dead creature from his grip ,it fell down lifelessly,sprawled on the ground .
Kailen took a better glance at the serpent . It was about 3 meters long, with an extremely green body that seemed to mimick the flora of the forest perfectly .
However although it was quite lengthy ,it was not large .
" This forest could be dangerous. How can a B ranked creature be so powerful and fast"
Even though Kailen had easily killed the creature,he was still shocked .
The creature was B ranked, but if he estimated correctly, it's speed was akin to that of An A ranked shadow creature.
" Oh, I remember that when I awakened ,the system informed me that due to the density of worldly natural energy in the pocket world,I was stronger than the ordinary E ranked awakened. It seems this also applies to creatures in the pocket world" He mused correctly then sighed.
" A pity that my slot for creating Shadow Creatures is full at the moment . Looks like I have to increase my rank as an awakener for my slots to increase. Could have turned this fellow into a shadow creature. However I should not be rushing too much too in increasing my ranks. I have to make sure I get used to my strength in a rank before I proceed to attempt a breakthrough into another one. Unlike when I was under extreme pressure to fight the wyvern, I should not be rushing too much to increase ranks from now. I should consolidate my strength in a rank first, so that I don't have a weak foundation"
Kailen sighed , then continued to move through the forest.
A large scream suddenly reverberated through the forest , followed by extremely loud thumping sounds.
Kailen sensed through shadow manipulation a towering shadow looming over him.
His figure blurred,as he activated the seven phantoms movement technique he had been practicing for the past few days after returning from the black market.
Seven silhouettes of his obsidian figure suddenly appeared, moving in zig-zag manner.
He crossed a few kilometers in a split second.
. Just then, a large foot akin to that of a large creature several metres large landed at where he stood previously, accompanied with an earth shaking vibration ,that caused fissures to appear at the point of impact,some trees swaying and being uprooted from the pressure of the impact.
Kailen's vision lingered on the maniacal creature that had almost crushed him with it's foot.. It was a green colored fat goblin of about 7 meters tall ,holding a large club, boasting a menacing grin.
And the creature was radiating the strength of an S ranked .
Kailen knew, he had to go all out.
He was about to fight with a hobgoblin ,and an extremely strong S ranked one at that.

Chapter 34: Chapter 34. Exploring the pocket world of the time dilation artifact 2
The ginormous hobgoblin snarled at the puny human before it, letting out a roar so ferocious that the air seemed to ripple.
In that split second, Kailen summoned all his shadow creatures, as they turned into a whirlwind of shadows that surrounded his entire being, further enhancing his obsidian figure with strength.
He seemed more confident in duking it out with this hobgoblin now.
As his battle intent surged, a shadow katana weaved into existence, about 1.7 meters long, its obsidian blade gleamed, then with Kailen, they blurred, shooting towards the ginormous goblin, leaving a trail of winds behind.
The figure's ginormous club swirled above it's head in a time one would assume to be less than that of a breath of air, then plummeted down like a comet towards the figure that dared to challenge it.
Shadow manipulation operated at full throttle, causing Kailen to determine the trajectory of the attack by sensing the shadow the motion the creature's attack mimicked. However, the attack was extremely fast, and would have blown him to smithereens, had he not activated the seven phantoms movement technique.
Seven phantoms of him appeared at the same time, further increasing his movements, aiding him to evade the attack. He quickly followed with an attempted slash through the creature's ginormous legs. However, it was as though the shadow katana had hit an insurmountable wall.
"The hell?. Even with the addition of the two A ranked guys I turned from the black market, I still don't hold a candle against it?'' He bellowed at the creature's physical defense. In that same time, the comet like strike of the opponent's hammer he had just evaded caused cracks and crevices to appear at the place of impact, further widening into an extremely large crater.
Kailen felt his scalp tingle as he stared into the crater ''This hobgoblin is extremely strong. Kailen shot towards the creature again, propelled by a tenebrous whirlwind of shadows beneath his feet. His focus was to this time, do damage to the creature's eye in the air. Since, he was at a disadvantage in terms of height, he'd have to be at least at a considerable height to do that.
However, what met him at that height was a spray of greenish liquid with an acrid smell that shot out of the creature's mouth.
Despite his use of shadow manipulation and the employment of his movement technique, the acrid substance having scratched his obsidian skin, caused cracks to spread in his shadow armor. Reinforcing himself with a couple of shadows that had stirred to life from his surroundings, he cursed.
''Damnation. How can this creature be so troublesome''
What followed next was a swing of the large bat in the hobgoblin's hands towards Kailen.
A part of his shadow armor, Vengeful, stirred into motion like a stream of moving snakes, reinforcing his katana with durability.
Then, a clash.
The air grew still.
A silence, then a shockwave. The hobgoblin staggered and moved back a few distances from its previous location.
However, Kailen was hurtled through the air like a ragdoll, barely managing to regain his motion in the air with the help of the whirlwind of shadows beneath his feet, before he almost slammed into a ginormous tree a few distances away from him.
''How do I defeat this bastard, when it beats me in every department. Damn it. This is risky but it's my only shot at wounding this bastard.''
The shadow armor around Kailen wobbled, shifting into a long obsidian arrow that floated before him.
The hobgoblin roared maniacally, then it leaped, an extremely high one at that.
It shot towards Its target in a few seconds like a projectile, the puny human that had managed to push it a few walks back and survive its attack.
''Shit'' Darkhaven cursed, turning into seven phantoms, managing to escape the wrath of the maniacal bastard after crossing some distance. However, oblivious to the hobgoblin's perception, a trail of black light had evaded its senses.
In the split second where the creature managed to turn towards the human vermin a few distances away from it, a streak of black light tore through its right eye, causing a cacophony of screams to resound, a rain of green blood spraying from its right eye unto the environs.
In the time it took to hold its right eye to wail in pain, the shadow arrow tore deeply into its ginormous head, turning into a rotating blade that slashed and impaled the innards of its head, its brain included, into a mess.
''Your body might be tough, but your innards are not as tough, bastard'' Darkhaven scoffed, panting heavily.
The creature's scream dimmed, then its ginormous body fell flat on its face, brain matter and blood oozing out of its right eye, it's fall causing loud vibrations to spread in the environs.
[Ho, you managed to defeat it, interesting.
Here's a reward. Can't say I'm impressed but, I'm pretty charitable after all]
A golden ring that could fit the index finger hovered before Kailen for a while, then fell on the ground.
Kailen picked it up, wondering of what use a ring could be.
'' A ring?''
[Its a space ring, bumpkin. This one is highly advanced. Able to store items such as weapons, plants and dead creatures, food, clothes, amongst others]
''Thank you, errm system''
[I said I'm not a system- ah forget it.]
Kailen laughed at the time dilation artifact's dramatic nature, then asked, as his gaze lingered on the space ring ''However, how does something like this exist?''
[The universe is vaster than you think . You earthlings are always acting high and mighty, thinking you are at the peak of the food chain. It's funny. Ah, I said too much. Tsk]
''Looks like earthlings are not the only race in the universe, and we are definitely not as strong as we think. From the system's words, even a fool can deduce this''

First of all, let's talk about the reason for supernatural affinities.
Some individuals are born with what is referred to as dormant physiques, whiles others are not born with dormant physiques.
Those born with the dormant physiques naturally resonate with the worldly natural energy of their world at a particular age, specific for every planet, causing them to awaken supernatural affinities.
A world or a planet may naturally experience an evolution at certain times, causing further mutation in the world's flora and fauna]
Kailen widened his eyes in shock. This information had really overturned his worldview. However , a question dawned on his mind.
''Is this evolution you are talking about what triggered the great change that occurred on the earth 200 years ago?''
[You could say that. Your planet evolved from an ordinary planet to an S ranked planet. Anyway, the mutation of a world causes the world core to mutate, this enables the world core to absorb what is called universe energy from the universe and break it down into a form that can be used to support the life on the world and also to aid the awakened to further increase in their strength.
This broken down energy is what you refer to as worldly natural energy.
In the case of your planet, before its evolution, one could say, the world core was just ordinary, unable to absorb universe energy. However after it's mutation, it was able to begin absorption of universe energy.
Planets are able to mutate to as high as what we refer to as The Ascendant level. A planet that has mutated to the S rank is referred to as an S ranked planet, and one that has mutated to the ascendant level is referred to as an ascendant level planet, in that order.
The ascendant level is the realm above S rank.
An S rank mutated planet is defined as a planet that has the ability to help an awakened with an S ranked talent to evolve to the level of an S rank. It means the planet core has evolved to a level where it can absorb a denser and richer form of universe energy that when digested into worldly natural energy to be used by the world, can be absorbed by an awakener with an S ranked talent to attain an S rank.
An ascendant level mutated planet is also defined as a planet that has the ability to help an awakened with an ascendant level talent to evolve to the ascendant level. It means the planet core has evolved to a level where it can absorb a denser and richer form of universe energy that when digested into worldly natural energy to be used by the world, can be absorbed by an awakener with an ascendant ranked talent to attain the ascendant level. Kailen stood there in silence, completely shocked. This was information that earth did not have. The Federation research facilities had tried all they could to investigate the reason for the great change, however they had found nothing.
He asked a question that dawned on his mind ever since the time dilation artifact begun lecturing him.

Some planets may also naturally skip ranks of evolution like your planet did. Others may even never evolve, and some of those that evolve, never even get to the level of a C ranked evolved planet. That the natural order of things]
Ignoring the insult of the time dilation artifact, Kailen nodded in understanding, then proceeded with another question ''Is the ascendant level the highest level a planet can evolve to?''.
[I already mentioned that. yes, the ascendant level is the highest level a planet can evolve to, however, the ascendant level for awakeners, is considered as the starting point of cultivation in the universe]
''What?'' Kailen was shocked, completely shocked. He had assumed the ascendant level was some sort of level at the peak.
[Just keep quiet and listen, bumpkin. After the S rank for awakeners, is the ascendant level. If one is fortunate enough to have an ascendant level talent, and to have an ascendant level home planet, one can grow to the ascendant level.
After one reaches the ascendant level, it means one can finally directly absorb universe energy without having to rely on the broken down worldly natural energy generated by their world core. At this level, an individual's being has evolved to be able to also travel the universe.
It is at the ascendant level that one is truly considered fated to travel the universe. After all, if one is below the ascendant level, any attempt to travel the universe will lead to death, as the individual's being cannot handle the raw form of universe energy that has not been broken down by their world's core, to become harmless for their absorption.
Before we proceed note that the ascendant level is divided into the beginner stage, the intermediate stage and the supreme stage.
Each of the stages of the ascendant level is divided into 5 sub levels.
So we have rank 1 beginner ascendant lifeform, up to the fifth, rank 1 intermediate ascendant stage lifeform up to the fifth, and rank 1 supreme stage ascendant lifeform,up to the fifth.
In the vast universe, it is only after an individual gets to the ascendant level, that talents can be further enhanced to ascend higher ranks by consuming certain elixirs created by alchemists in the universe.
However , these elixirs are extremely rare, and even after obtaining them, there is a chance that the elixirs may fail to help the individual to enhance their talent, and also lead to side effects such as causing them to lose their powers and affinities, or even lead to reduction in the awakener's levels.
After all, naturally ,an ascendant level talent is naturally the highest talent,and therefore trying to go against that will definitely not be easy.
These elixirs naturally work differently depending on the individual.
These elixirs can be divided into ranks depending on which level they can help enhance once talent to.
The levels of power in the universe that can be achieved after the ascendant rank after consuming these elixirs to enhance talents further, are in this ascending order.
Galactic lifeforms -divided into beginner,intermediate and supreme stage galactic lifeforms.
Each of these three stages have sub ranks ranging from rank 1 to rank 7. ( These lifeforms have power that can cause harm at a galactic level
The next stage is the dao lifeform - Also divided into beginner ,intermediate and supreme .
Each of these three stages have sub ranks ranging from rank 1 to rank 7.( Those at the dao lifeform level have comprehended the laws of the universe and can use them.
Lastly, the highest stage in the universe is universe level lifeform- Also divided into beginner,intermediate and supreme,with each stage also having sub ranks ranging from rank 1 to 7th rank.
This is the stage at which one has not just comprehended the laws of the universe,but have become one with them.
At this level one becomes a complete embodiment of the law they have mastered.Only a few in the universe have managed to reach this level,standing at the pinnacle of the universe. Let's not dwell on these for now,as you are nowhere near them]
Kailen stood there ,his head spinning. He now understood why the time dilation artifact had said that the universe was extremely vast.
It turned out that earthlings were complete trash in the power dynamics of the universe,not even considered at the basic level of power.
S rank was literally nothing in the universe.
Earthlings were utterly trash.
A sigh managed to escape his lips.
He was utterly dumbfounded

He was digesting everything he had learnt.
His entire worldview had been shattered.
He felt like an ant ,completely powerless,his confidence in being strong, shattered.
" Heh, as they say , a frog at the bottom of a well whatever, ah forget it. Can't remember the idiom.
In the vast cosmos , the current me is literally a bug than can be crushed by literally being step on"
[ It's good you've been humbled. Just focus on becoming stronger. In the vast universe ,strength matters more than anything. You of all people would get that,as you are well aware from your past that,such a principle even applies on this planet of yours]
" Mm" Kailen nodded " Lets just focus on becoming stronger. If I can get to the ascendant level, along with my shadow creatures , then those diabolic beasts won't stand a chance. Im completely confident that just as you miraculously changed my talent to S rank, getting it to the ascendant level is not gonna be a problem"

Kailen nodded,sighing deeply.
His resolve burnt ,his gaze calm and focused.
His imagination churned, as he pictured himself terrorising the diabolic beasts of the continents of earth with a vast army of shadow creatures .
" I'll start with the Coiling Terror,that bastard"
He mused further, a determined demeanor evident in his eyes " My goal for becoming stronger had always been to have enough strength to terrorise those diabolic beasts for what they did to my parents. However,I can't help but also feel powerless ,thinking about the power systems of the universe. If I slack off, my past of bullying,ridicule and abuse will repeat itself when I finally start to travel the universe after venting on those diabolic beasts ,having reached the ascendant level. I need to stand at peak of the cosmos, so that I can control my own fate. It's really absurd how S ranked awakened on earth think they are overlords,when in the vast cosmos,they are merely ants"
Kailen sighed, his gaze lingering on the Hobgoblin he had defeated, then on the space ring.
" Do I just have to wear it like any other ring ?"
He probed.
[ What an idiot. Your blood, drop your blood on it.Tsk!]
Kailen sighed, why was this time dilationa artifact always mean to him?, anyway he did as the time dilation artifact directed ,then put on the ring, as it assumed a transparent lustre,it's visibility fading as though it didn't exist.
" Interesting"
A large space akin to an extremely gigantic hall whose ceiling was indiscernable, with a ridiculous length boasting several infinite kilometers appeared in his mind .
[ That's the storage space in the spacial ring]
" How can it be so large ?. Forget it, everything related to this time dilation artifact defies logic" He mused .
[ You just have to will the dead hobgoblin to enter the storage space in the ring ]
Kailen nodded,then followed the direction.
The large hobgoblin dissapeared from the forest floor, finally landing in the storage space of the ring.
" Helpful. At least I can now store the creatures I kill even when I don't have enough slots for creating Shadow Creatures for later. How do I spend my remaining time in the pocket world How long do I have left till the days is up errm system?"
[ You have roughly 9 days and 17 hours left]
" Alright. before I put myself at risk to further explore the pocket world, in case I die in the pocket world, will it actually be real?"
[ You'll respawn at the spot where you died. However ,every sensation of death will be incredibly realistic.
For instance ,in case the circumstance of your death were to be that being roasted alive, you'll feel every sensation of being roasted alive. However that won't change the fact that you'll respawn]
Kailen felt a chill run down his spine.
"Of all the examples you had to use..being roasted alive ,this..

[ New mission recieved- The Hobgoblin village has noticed the murder of their chief.
They are causing havoc to the forest with maddened rage.
Your mission is to find them and kill them in the next 1 hour before they harm innocent creatures not involved in the death of their chief.
Of course everything you just read is just an excuse I'm making up for you to find them and kill them. Who cares about what happens to any creature in this forest. You could burn it to the ground if you have the means for all I care. Ahem,anyway,find them and kill them.
Reward for completion-Lightning affinity
Punishment for failure- I won't tell you, however you can try failing if you want to try my patience. Tsk!]
Kailen stared at the mission panel in shock,ignoring the dramatic nature of the time dilation artifact,focused on only one part.
Lightning affinity?. He was gonna get another affinity?and it was the powerful lightning affinity?
" I thought I will only have the shadow affinity, turns out I was completely wrong. This time dilation artifact is really unpredictable . Alright,lets finish this mission as soon as possible. Plus,I get to keep a couple of dead diabolic beasts I can use for creating Shadow Creatures in the end"
Kailen's obsidian figure blurred,navigating through the forest.
He utilized the 7 phantoms movement techniques to move at a quick pace,traversing extremely large distances in a few seconds .

A 100 ginormous creatures ,each about 5 meters in height suddenly rose to their feet from a swamp.
Massive growls resounded throughout the forest,associated with heavy,thumping sounds .
They traversed through the swamp with unhindered movements,having sensed the connection to the village chief suddenly cut off.
This was a sign that he had died .
Whoever had dared to kill him,had to pay the price.
The 100 hobgoblins moved like a swarm , causing lower ranked diabolic beasts to scurry away in fear upon siting them.
The unlucky ones were literally crushed beneath their ginormous feets,scurrying through the door to the afterlife.
Their massive clubs swung through tree stems with maddened ferocity,causing the flora to weep at their babarity.
They had to find the bastard that had dared to commit the taboo of murdering their chief.

Kailen voyaged through the forest, shadow manipulation operating at full throttle.
After a period of time, he caught wind of about a 100 ginormous shadows, creeping through the forest a couple of long distances from him.
Accompanied with the sense of the 100 shadow creatures, he sensed their auras.
" 60 B ranked creatures, 20 C ranked and 20 A ranked . Perhaps I should let my shadow creatures handle this and sit this one out . Now that I think of it, I haven't really taken the time to observe my shadow creatures exhibit their capabilities in a fight. I"ll let Vengeful sit this one out . I want to observe the others in action. If Vengeful appears,there won't be any point to it. Since she's S ranked, the fight will end in just a few seconds"
Making his decision , Everfrost at six metres , Avarice and Feral at 5 metres, the three dark fiend shadow hounds at 3 metres and the two A ranked shadow creatures created from two dead guys amongst the deranged awakeners at the black market appeared before him.
His gaze lingered on the dark fiend shadow hounds and the two shadows created from the deranged awakeners for a few seconds.
" Let's give these guys a name. Shadow hounds, your names are Hound 1 ,Hound 2 and Hound 3.
For these guys.. " His gaze lingered on the ones created from the deranged awakeners then he voiced.
"Your names are.. ah why is this so hard forget it,let's just pick a simple name , Menace and Phantom. Just thought of some interstellar movie I watched when I was 12 and clutched a name from the title,yeah ,that will do"
The dark fiend shadow hounds seemed happy ,thier gaze lingering on Feral. However Kailen knew from their gesture that the expression they made was one of mockery towards Feral.
He memory traced back to the time where Feral was rebuking them about Kailen giving them names when he deemed them worthy.
He chuckled slightly " It seems these guys took offense in the way Feral addressed them on that day hence the contemptful and mocking expressions towards her now that they have a name"
Feral however seemed unfazed,the creature ignoring them as though they were mindless buffoons .
Phantom and Menace, bowed,on one flexed knee, as an expression of loyalty flickered in their abyss like hollow eyes.
They stood at a towering 3 metres ,their obsidian builds radiating the aura of A ranked shadow creatures.
Kailen glanced at all his shadow creatures, then nodded in satisfaction.
Seated atop Everfrost's back, the creature flapped its wings,traversing multiple distances in a few seconds. The other shadow creatures trailed behind them, their movements causing trees to sway and fall apart. Many creatures scurried away in fright,the unfortunate ones being squashed beneath them.
Finally , Darkhaven and small cohort arrived before the 100 hobgoblins ,causing havoc and mayhem to the flora and fauna in the vicinity with ferocious swings of their clubs that caused the air to rip apart.
" It's all on you guys. Best of luck"
Kailen lept from the back of Everfrost ,landing on the back of Vengeful whom he had just summoned.
The creature bolted towards the sky , traversing heights that caused considerable distance to emerge between her master, his army and the bunch of ignorant buffoons that dared to attempt to fight her master's powerful army ,as she snared inwardly.
Two pair of eyes,belonging to master and shadow creature ,observed the battle below.
The strange flute with intricate patterns appeared in the hands of Avarice, followed with a strange eery melody with a seducing feel .
The melody moved like a stream,landing on 5 B ranked and 5 C ranked hobgoblins that were approaching him from a distance with their ferocious clubs in hand.
Their greenish eyes azumed a scarlet texture,then turning towards one another,a maddened massacre ensued amongst them.
" Incredible " Kailen observed , his eyes filled with fanatic delight.
This took a while to describe ,but it had happened in the span of a few breaths.
An A ranked hobgoblin leaped into the air leaving dents at it's previous position ,it's massive club raised with barbaric ferocity, towards Avarice, having noticed the puny creature before it somehow had something to do with the strange massacre that had ensued amongst his fellows.
However before it fell into the clutches of gravity,and descended towards its target, a draconic roar,associated with shrill coldness and a gigantic ball of ice,tore through the air like a sonic boom,leaving a trail of frozen environs behind.
The ball of ice finally made contact with the creature ,freezing the hobgoblin completely.
It plummeted down from the sky in it's frozen state with its club like a comet,landing on the ground with a boom sound, a testament of Everfrost's power.
The frozen A ranked hobgoblin's static body rolled on the ground for a few moments before finally coming to a halt.
The three dark fiend shadow hounds targeted the B ranked hobgoblins,moving unnoticed,their movements insidious.
They left tenebrous trails akin to what one would assume to be shadow smoke in their wake,each hobgoblin they passed falling down lifelessly and sprawled on the ground.
At a closer look, one would notice gaping holes in the bodies of the hobgoblins they passed.
As for the shadow hounds,the blood of the hobgoblins dripped endlessly from their mouths and claws, a testament of the damage their extremely sharp teeth and claws had weaved.
Phantom and Menace were engaged with some A ranked Hobgoblins in fierce combat.
A massive obsidian staff clung to Phantom's hands, glowing with tenebrous intensity, the shadow creature's obisidian figure floating before an A ranked Hobgoblin.
His abyss like eyes grew more hollow,and deep,a large ball of an extremely tenebrous acrid miasma shooting from the staff .
The miasma met another acrid substance , green one to be precise, that had proceeded from the mouth of the A ranked hobgoblin.
The air grew still for an instant,the two miasmas engaged in a fierce fight for domination.
Soon,the green acrid substance admitted defeat, tethering into oblivion,giving way for the tenebrous miasma to hurtle towards the hobgoblin's eyes.
The creature screamed in profound agony, only to later be met with multiple attacks of the same kind from its adversary. The tenebrous acrid miasma seemed to have a corroding effect, as the hobgoblin's body seemed to be ravaged continually .
Before it let out a final wail,it had turned into a husky version of its former self, emaciated greatly as though it's complete vitality had been sucked away.
It fell down lifelessly, sprawled on the ground.
Menace however, suddenly begun to grow larger,from 3 metres to roughly the height of the hobgoblin he was engaged with.
The obsidian creature and the greenish giant were engaged in a battle of pure strength .
Club and fists met multiple times causing ripples of air to travel throughout the vicinity.
The club of the hobgoblin crushed into the jaw of the towering obsidian creature, sending Menace hurtling away. The hobgoblin shot towards the compromised enemy hurtling in the air with babarity ,smashing it's ferocious club further into the obsidian creature's jaw multiple times , causing it to plummet into the ground ,a large crater forming in at the shadow creature's point of impact
[ Your shadow creature has died ,it will be taken into the shadow expanse to be revived for you to be able to summon it again]
A notification appeared before Kailen, who was observing the battle with intrigue.
His gaze lingered on towering Feral,her absurd and ridiculous dark flames reaping the lives of the remaining C ranked hobgoblins and causing extreme damage to some of the B ranked hobgoblins.
Menace had however,reappeared on the battlefield.
Kailen observed from Vengeful's back, realizing the absurdity of shadow creatures. They could not die permanently . No matter how many times you managed to kill them,they would reappear to cause you further harm.
Unless you managed to kill the master,they would never truly face death. On the battlefield, they could really be terrible opponents in large quantities during a battle of attrition.
Everfrost used the advantage of flight to soar above the battlefield sending icicles and ice balls towards the hobgoblins.
The shadow creatures fought with mesmerizing efficiency for a couple of moments with their adversaries, completley managing to overwhelm their opponents .
After a couple of moments ,what remained of the hobgoblins were their lifeless bodies sprawled on the battlefield in various manners.
The shadow creatures stood on the former battlefield now turned an apocalyptic setting, with unfazed expressions,awaiting the next orders of their master.
Kailen observed his shadow creatures,getting a good grasp of how each one of them utilized their affinities in actual combat.
" These guys are powerful. To be honest. Shadow necromancy is really terrifying. Also I now have many corpses to use to form shadow creatures in the future in case I rank up and obtain more slots. Now where's the lighting affinity I was promised "

Kailen was at loss for words "But you said. ah never mind" He knew that arguing with the Time Dilation Artifact was pointless. He felt cheated honestly, after all, the reward for completing the mission was the lightning affinity.
[ Look, technically I've not cheated you. I only said the lightning affinity would be your reward. I never mentioned when you'll be allowed to integrate with the affinity. You are the one who assumed you'll have it right after completing the mission. Tsk]
Kailen felt like coughing up a mouthful of blood.
This Time Dilation Artifact was not only shameless but was an expert at cheating people.
However, he could only give in, looking forward to possessing the lightning affinity. His thoughts drifted towards a particular person in the Federation who was known to have mastered the lightning affinity to extremely profound levels, the current Federation president, Xu Reynolds.
''With the monstrosity of the time dilation artifact, I'm sure that guy will pale in comparison to me in that department when I finally have my hands on the lightning affinity"
Kailen thoughts drifted back to his environs.
Vengeful flapped her wings at his command, moving towards the field where the shadow creatures had gathered.
''You guys have done very well, enter the shadow expanse''
The shadow creatures disappeared to the shadow expanse, leaving only Vengeful and the ginormous corpses of the Hobgoblins behind.
''Did Feral really have to burn some of these guys to ashes?. Can't blame her, just her affinity at work'' Kailen sighed, he was currently short of a few dead bodies, thanks to Feral's flames.
''Can't be too selfish. At least this number is alright. It's not like I'm done exploring anyway. Couple of days left before I leave the time dilation artifact after all''
He willed the bodies of the hobgoblins to enter the storage space of the space ring then resumed his exploration, seated atop Vengeful's back.

Kailen sat at the back of Vengeful staring at the charred corpse of an extremely ginormous buffalo.
He petted the shadow wyvern's head ''Well done, with you, all those A ranked creatures were killed in one fell swoop including this one. I didn't even have to lift a finger''
The terrifying wyvern assumed a cute demeanor, lashing her arrow tip tail on the ground boisterously, obviously pleased with her master's acknowledgement.
Kailen chuckled at the creature's gesture ''However, have I not told you to limit your power, I'd have lost a couple of creatures I could turn into shadows later. You and that Feral really have no compassion for me, do you?''
The creature made a sound akin to a sad one, her mood dampened at her master's derogatory remark.
Seeing this, Kailen chuckled, then shook his head.
It had been almost ten full days after the skirmish with the hobgoblins. He had barely managed to explore even this forest of the pocket world.
''The pocket world is extremely large, even this forest seems very large that I've barely managed to explore even a small portion of it''
However, he had managed target and effortlessly slaughter not less than 150 A ranked diabolic beasts without even lifting a finger, thanks to Feral.
As for S ranked diabolic beasts, he had not made contact with any of them after his encounter with the hobgoblin that almost gave him a run for his money.
''Seems that guy was perhaps the overlord of the area'' Kailen mused, about to ask the time dilation artifact how long he had before his time in the pocket world was up.
''Should really bring a phone to keep track of time next time. How long do I have left, system? This time dilation artifact is too annoying''
[ Tsk told you I'm not a system, also I heard you calling me annoying, be careful, ah, you ungrateful nincompoop. Anyway, you have a few seconds remaining]
''Shit'', Kailen quickly willed the buffalo to enter the space ring, before he disappeared from the pocket world.

''That was close. Almost a wasted effort'' Kailen landed on the floor of his room, relieved that he had thrown the buffalo into the space ring before he was kicked out of the pocket world
[Stingy as always. Considering the number of A ranked diabolic beasts you've killed, why should losing a single one matter to you. Tsk. ]
''Worked for it with sweat and blood you know''
[ Sweat and blood my foot! Tsk. Anyway you have one month till you can enter the pocket world again]
Kailen sighed, ignoring the time dilation artifact.
His gaze lingered on his phone. It had really been 10 hours in the real world.
''Let's head to the hall and see what's happening. But first, system can you help me with a change of clothes?''
[Tsk!] However, contrary to the words of the Time Dilation Artifact, a light flashed around Kailen's figure, and in the next second, he was donned in a black hoodie and some jeans, along with white sneakers. He was also completely clean and devoid of any form of sweat or filth that may have accumulated on his body from his time in the pocket world.
''Thank you'' The Time Dilation Artifact ignored his response.
''Shitty behavior, from a shitty time dilation artifact''
Intense pain suddenly overwhelmed his whole being for a few seconds, causing him to fall down and on the ground in the bedroom, gasping in pain. The pain lasted for a few seconds then disappeared.
Kailen staggered and stood up, gasping in shock.
''Shit. The hell was that about?''

Kailen suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. This time dilation artifact was really too ruthless.
''Seems I have to learn to control my mouth from now on'' He sighed and left the room, heading towards the hall.
Kailen sat on the sofa, then turned on the flat screen television in the hall.
A beautiful woman, presumably an anchor stood at the entrance of a massive entrance, currently parked with young people.
''This is Lovia from FBC( Federation Broadcasting Coperation), live from Zanpala University, as you can all see, unlike other universities, the entrance exams of Zanpala university is happening earlier than expected this year. The news of the entrance exams being shifted to the day after tomorrow was posted roughly 7 hours ago, causing an uproar to emerge on not only the social media platforms of Zanpala, but amongst various people from other countries on the continent. The...''
Kailen turned off the television.
''It seems I have to reach the capital city as soon as possible. University life huh. Let's see how it will turn out"
Kailen turned off the television, about to make preparation for the next phase of his life.
Thanks to the time dilation artifact ,he had to attend university .

Kailen stood a few walks away from the main road, right at the edge of the pavement that led to the familiar house, ignoring the couple that walked into the house with their young girl.
His gaze peered through the veil of memories, triggering memories of his time with his parents in this house.
This was the house Kailen had sold in some time past after the death of his parents to the real estate agent who had ripped him off. This was the house he grew up in with his parents.
Kailen sighed; his hoodie draped on his figure.
''I decided not to visit your grave till I've terrorized those diabolic beasts mum and dad. However we share a connection to this house, so I came to say my goodbye for now here. I know this may sound silly and unreasonable. I could have just decided to visit your grave one last time till the next time we meet again but, I swore, although not literally, before your grave that the next time I visit your grave again, those diabolic beasts would have paid for your deaths, and the pain they've caused me.''
He sighs ''Therefore I intend to honor that promise. Your little boy has become a bit strong, and has to go to university. University huh. To be honest I didn't even see the need to attend. But due to some interferences, I have to attend. Till next time, mum and dad''
Just when Kailen turned and was about to leave, his superhuman senses as an awakener picked up on a conversation happening inside his previous family house.
''Sweetheart, how long are we going to keep these two things here. The previous owners of the house are not around anymore. Can't we just throw them away?'' A female voice rung in Kailen's ears, causing his eyes to narrow in shock.
''Apart from the clothes and other gadgets I had sold for money, was there any other thing left in the house?'' Kailen mused, deciding to listen in on the conversation further.
A male's voice, probably that of the husband resounded in his ears ''Alright, it's been a month, and the previous owners have not come to retrieve this diary and this pen, perhaps we can just throw them away. Initially I assumed they had forgotten to take it along with them since it was the only item here that was in the house when we moved in. I assumed they'd come to retrieve it but let's just throw them away. These items have been here for a while after all''
''A diary and a pen? Could it belong to mum and dad? I have to get it'' Quickly, Kailen's figure flickered, appearing in front of the front door of the house.
He restrained his awakened aura completely, then rang the doorbell, awaiting a response.
A few moments later, the door made a clicking sound, then opened, revealing a short man with a long beard and brown eyes in a home wear, presumably a T shirt and some jeans.
The man glanced at Kailen draped in the black hoodie for a few seconds ''Isn't he the weird looking guy we saw standing near the house while we were on our way home?'' He mused inwardly, then decided to be polite.
''Hello, what can I do for you?'' His deep voice reached Kailen's ear.
''Hi, please do you happen to recollect coming across a diary and a pen in this house?''
The man's eyes widened in shock at Kailen's words ''Oh, you must be the previous owner of the house, you came just in time. We were just about to get rid of the items since we've been keeping them for a while now and no one has come looking for them. Would you like to come inside for a cup of coffee?''
''Would have loved to, however I'm in a hurry, thank you for the hospitality''
''Oh, in that case, then let me not waste your time. Just a second'' The man closed the door, the sound of his footsteps tracing further away for a few seconds before the door opened again, revealing a small wooden rectangular box with a diary and a pen in it.
Kailen stared at the wooden frame, his heart beating wildly. He did not know how to describe how he felt. To be honest, he knew so little about his parents in the aspect of who his parents' family were and where they came from. Perhaps, their diary could tell him something about them?
Managing to reign in his emotions, he politely received the rectangular wooden frame. ''Thank you''
He scanned the wooden frame, realizing that only the diary and the pen were in it.
''We found it at a corner in the basement. When we moved in, the house was completely empty. This wooden frame containing these two items were the only things we found''
Kailen nodded, took the diary and the pen from the wooden rectangular box, handed over the wooden frame back to the man, then left.
The man stared at Kailen's retreating back, then sighed ''What a strange guy. Who wears a hoodie when summer has begun''
He closed the door and took the wooden rectangular box returning to his wife and daughter.
Kailen stood at the edge of the house, took a last glance, sighed deeply and left for the train station. He could have made use of flight with Vengeful to travel to the capital, however he was honestly directionless as to how to get there. Also, even if he decided to make use of flight with the aid of a map or the help of the Time Dilation Artifact, it was possible he would have to deal with annoying aerial monsters along the way. Kailen was in no mood for that . At this point ,all he was thinking about was the diary. He wanted to peacefully navigate through its contents as soon as possible.
He could have also opted to travel by airplane but the train station was nearer.
He therefore opted to travel by a bullet train.
''Train 233346 is leaving New Alexandria city for Achilles city. Expected time of arrival, 3 hours,22 minutes'' A loud robotic voice rung out throughout the train.
As he sat at the VIP lounge in the train, the diary appeared from the space ring into his hands.
The diary was red in color ''Mum probably opted for this color. She was obsessed with color red after all'' He chuckled, then observed the diary further.
''How can a diary have a keyhole?'' Kailen was honestly surprised.
The diary had some sort of keyhole
Unlike a normal book, the diary was strapped from end to end, with no way to open it, no matter how hard he had tried. However, a lock was at the front cover, which Kailen deduced was the only way to open the diary.
Kailen calmed himself down, thinking of a solution to open the diary.
He studied the layout of the keyhole, then used shadow manipulation to conjure a key that he deemed could mimic the keyhole.
Kailen tried to use the key he had conjured to open the diary, however he still failed.
''Just what at all, could be in this diary that they had to take such precautions?''
Kailen sighed, wondering why his parents would take such precautions for a diary?
However, his thoughts lingered back to the man who had given him the diary.
''Could the key to open the diary be missing somewhere in the house. Should I go back in search for it?''
He however decided it was not worth it. The train had already left the city, plus, he didn't think there was any way to find the key even in the house.
According to the man and the conversation he had overhead from the man and his wife, the diary and the pen were the only two items in the house when they moved in. The key to open the diary was therefore not in the house. The only plausible whereabouts of the key was that his parents kept it on themselves wherever they went.
In that case, that meant that they had died with it. At this point, the diary would never be opened.
He was confused concerning how to open the diary.
''Think Kailen, think.''

The material for this diary is a rank 1 beginner stage ascendant level material, which means the key is also a rank 1 beginner stage ascendant level material. To be honest, I could create a key for you to open it right now, however, this is a good thing. Use the desire to open the diary your parents left behind to not slack off and get to the ascendant level, so that you can open the diary yourself]

From the power systems of the universe the time dilation artifact has led me to understand, Earth is only an S ranked planet, with no way to groom an ascendant level awakener, or even ascendant level diabolic beasts. How is this possible? Could it be that somehow...''
Kailen's breathing grew ragged.
His thoughts churned.
What he was thinking of was genuinely absurd and ridiculous. His parents were normal people, there was no way that was possible, and yet, how else will they get their hands on an ascendant level material diary?
Finally, he managed to gain the courage to muse ''Could it be that my parents are not from earth?''
The time dilation artifact was silent, leaving him to his thoughts in the fast-moving bullet train.

Kailen's resolute eyes flickered '' My parents were definitely not ordinary. Just the fact that they have an ascendant level material diary is enough proof that they have some connection to the universe. That's the only rational possibility.
Kailen sighed deeply
''Let's just focus on growing stronger and take a step at a time. I could sit here and speculate unreasonably or focus on what is in front of me. When I get to the ascendant level, I will naturally know what's in this diary. If my speculation about my parents is wrong, so be it, if its right, then I'll know how to proceed''
Just when Kailen was caught up in his thoughts, his phone vibrated.
[Angela Hayes; Alright, I thought you said you wouldn't be participating in the university entrance exams? Well, Enjoy your life at the university. I will test you in case we have any leads on the Terror Surge Syndicate]
Kailen read the test, then placed the phone back into his pocket.
A pair of gluetooth devices appeared in his ears, then he sighed deeply, closing his eyes, nodding to the tune of the opening song of an animation franchise he had watched in his early teenage years, his hoodie cap draping his figure.
''Started from nothing but now I'm here
Rejected and cast aside,

A tap on the leg, a little girl's voice.
Kailen snaps out of the humming, staring down at the little loly, his eyes widening.
''Is this not the little girl I saved a few days ago? What is she doing here?''
''Uncle its really you!. What you did at the stadium that day was incredible. You were like puuwwuuuuushhshsh, and then that scary looking guy and his people vanished. Father said they run away hehe'' The little girl's dramatic antics drew the attention of her mother who had fallen asleep in the VIP seat adjacent to Kailen's, ignoring her husband still sleeping, she decided to approach the scene before her daughter pulled something weird on the strange gentleman.
" Smart kid, she really realized it was me even under the hoodie,wonder how she'd react if she knew I killed Conrad and Co , her father obviously hid the truth from her to protect her childlike innocence" Kailen mused, as he stared at the little girl.
''Felicia, don't disturb the gentleman'' Her mother quickly drew closer to her daughter
''I apologize sir, my little girl can be quiet a bother sometimes'' The woman politely apologized to the stranger.
The stranger nodded underneath the hoodie. However, the girl whispered something into her mother's ears, causing her eyes to widen in surprise.
''It's fine, kids are all like that'' The stranger responded, his familiar voice causing the lady's eyes to further widen.
''Sir, could you be-''
Before she could however complete her statement, the man beneath the hoodie cap voiced ''Please with all due respect ma'am if people hear the name you are about to mention right now it will create a scene. I just want to peacefully listen to some music''
''Uncle don't be mean to my mother'' The little girl threw a tantrum, causing Kailen to sigh.
When it came to kids, the strings of his heart could somehow be pulled. Perhaps due to their innocent nature.
The woman glared at her child, a gesture indicating she should not be rude to her family's benefactor
''Yes, it's me, Uncle Kailen'' He replied as quietly as possible, confirming the child's words to her mother and the woman's guess from his familiar voice.
Micheal who was approaching the scene after jolting out of his sleep to identify the gentleman who had managed to capture the attention of the two most important ladies to him, suddenly halted on hearing the response, his brown eyes glinting with surprise.
''Its him? Could he be heading to the Capital to also take the entrance exams? Is this not the third time I have met him? This can be no happenstance; we are probably fated to be friends. Not only did he save my life, but also that of my daughter, and now, we encounter him again?. I'd be a fool to not take advantage of this opportunity to befriend a man who's not only my benefactor, but also extremely powerful. If I get to know him, perhaps, surviving the harsh environment of the university will be a little easier. Plus, I can find a way to make it up to him for saving my life and that of my daughter'' With his mind made up, Micheal walked to Kailen's seat, his gaze lingering on his wife and child, then on Kailen.
Due to the fact that Kailen had completely veiled his awakener's aura, he didn't stand out , seemingly looking ordinary.
Unlike the last time Micheal had seen him, he seemed more approachable .
Also , inasmuch him recalling the scene at the stadium made the seemingly ordinary young man seem very terrifying , he couldn't behave timidly before his wife and daughter . A man had his dignity after all. Summoning his courage , he asked
" Sir, if I may ask, are you gonna take the entrance exams of Zanpala University ?"
Kailen felt this couple was disturbing his peace of mind,he was not a people's person in the first place.
Also his experiences with people in the past 2 years were not the best ,frought with traumatic events.
However he couldn't stand the sight of the little girl complaining that he was being mean to her parents.
He sighed inwardly, replying the man for his daughter's sake " I'll be enrolling in the University through a special recommendation"
Micheal eyes widened for a few seconds, however he regained his composure quickly " Of course, with his monstrosity ,it's only natural he will enroll through special recommendation and not normal means."
It was pretty normal to him that although a special recommendation from Zanpala University was extraordinary,as it allowed one to skip the entrance exams, Kailen had managed to obtain one.
" Oh, then after I pass the entrance exams, I'll come looking for you. May I have the honor of having your contact sir. I really want to find a way to repay you for saving not only my life,but my daughter's. At least, let me have your number"
Kailen's gaze beneath the hoodie lingered on the little girl, who stared at him eagerly.
It seemed he had no choice but to give the contact to the little girl's father. " My soft spot for kids will be the end of me"
He gave in, berating himself inwardly , took the man's phone and typed his number for him.
Micheal eagerly took the phone,rejoicing inwardly " Nailed it "
Quickly he made a call to Kailen.
" That's my number sir " Kailen nodded at the man ,his expression neither cold nor warm.
'I should block his line as soon as he leaves' Kailen thought to himself.
The couple realized the young man wanted to be alone, therefore they made the decision to leave him, about to thank him for his time before they leave with their daughter.
However the little girl's innocent character blinded her from reading the room " Uncle Kailen, can I get an autograph ?"
" This girl... Is trouble " Kailen was at loss for words .
" I'm some sort of superstar now huh" He mused to himself, then nodded " Mmm"
Felicia giggled excitedly , then spoke childishly
" I have a permanent marker pen here, sign on my face"
Her parents "...."
Kailen "This..." Of all the things the child could come up with, he should sign an autograph on her face..
Did she take him for some deranged gentleman with weird fetishes for little girls?.
The little girl lept after saying that, her small button landing on Kailen's laps
" Uncle it's summer , why are you in a hoodie?. You can only sign the autograph with the hoodie cap off!"
After she blurted out her question, she flipped his hoodie cap off, revealing his face to the incredulous expressions of her parents.
Her mother was about to angrily scold her and apologize to Kailen for their daughter's rudeness, however what he did next caused the couple to question whether or not they were dreaming.
He was smiling , instead of laughing at the little girl's absurd behavior.
Micheal noticed that his smile was not forced, it was a genuine natural smile.
' So beneath that cold exterior , he can smile huh. Looks like he's taken a liking to little Feli'
Micheal mused to himself happily. With his daughter having been taken a liking to by this young powerhouse , becoming friends with Kailen Darkhaven may not seem too difficult in the end.
He gestured to his wife to let their daughter be, to which she obliged respectfully .
" Sure , however I can't sign on your face, how about in your hands ? ,and I won't use a permanent pen"
"No, that means it will wash off"
" Sweetheart why don't you let Uncle sign for you with a real pen in your diary, that way it won't wash off okay?"
Micheal tried convincing his daughter, his expression soft and calm
" Okay daddy, to that I can agree"
Kailen nodded , receiving the diary of the little girl from her father a few seconds later
' I can't believe I'm really gonna sign an autograph' Kailen chuckled, he found it quite amusing .
This little girl was very interesting .
He sighed with his signature,after which the little girl insisted that she will sit on his lap for the remaining of the journey.
The couple sat in the seat behind Kailen for the remaining of the journey , leaving their little girl to the enigmatic young man who had become a benefactor to their family.
The child fell asleep after engaging Kailen in idle useless chatter,snoring herself away.
However ,the peaceful atmosphere in the bullet train was suddenly interrupted by a menacing voice that had barged into the VIP session.
" Everybody on your knees now!, your damn hands behind your shitty heads!"
