STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC54: A Losing Battle

Chapter 54: A Losing Battle

The two wolves darted into the forest to escape, and five of the soldiers stayed back while the others chased after them! Once those five were gone, two more wolves appeared and began drawing the attention of the remaining soldiers!

This time, the soldiers all took off and chased after the wolves, and Jason ordered the Pawn Rank II scouts to quickly head toward the tunnel and block it!

The tunnel was shaped in a way that no more than three worker ants or one soldier ant could enter it at the same time. But since the scouts were larger than the workers and smaller than the soldiers, they needed two of them to block the tunnel!

The scouts immediately charged for the tunnel, and two of them used their bodies to slam against the entrance, blocking it and preventing any more ants from going inside!

Then, the massacre began!

Jason had already sent his four Pawn Rank III subordinates along with sixteen Pawn Rank II subordinates after the soldiers. That meant he only had three Pawn Rank II subordinates along with twenty Pawn Rank I subordinates with him.

But since two of the Pawn Rank II subordinates had used their bodies to block the entrance, Jason could only use one Pawn Rank II along with twenty Pawn Rank I's to fight!

But the worker ants weren't like the soldiers and scouts, who had the ability to defend themselves properly and fly away if there was danger. The workers couldn't fly, and their mandibles were developed for cutting trees and carrying heavy objects, not for battle! And that was why the Pawn Rank I's were able to put up one hell of a fight!

The Pawn Rank I's immediately charged against the workers and began tearing into them with reckless abandon! The workers were shocked by the sudden attack, and many of them tried to charge toward the tunnel to hide, but they were met with the large mandibles of the scouts blocking the entrance, and they were easily cut in half by their own brothers!

There were fifty workers in the tunnel entrance, and after only two minutes, Jason's subordinates had killed close to thirty of them in their initial attack, and they were already chasing down the remaining ants that were running away in fear!

The ants were screeching loudly as they called for help from the soldiers, but the soldiers were all the way on the other side of the forest chasing down the wolves, so there was no one here to help them!

Buzz~!

Buzz~!

Buzz~!

Jason suddenly heard the unmistakable sound of an Adamantine Ant scout from somewhere below him, and he narrowed his eyes as he saw the scout looking over what was happening.

The scout's head swiveled as it surveyed the battle and it was in the middle of debating whether it should go and help the ants below or report the situation back to the other tunnel. Jason could pinpoint the exact moment when the scout chose to report instead!

Jason immediately sent a message to the ant he was riding, and the ant folded its wings and dived down towards the unsuspecting scout!

Before the scout could go anywhere, Jason's ant used its large mandibles and clipped the scout's wings, making it in pain as its body tilted to one side before it fell to the ground! Jason then spread his mana toward the dead worker ants on the ground and spoke.

"Resurrect!"

Ten of the worker ants were immediately dragged out from their bodies, and they released loud screeches as they joined the other subordinates in the fight! Jason sent them after the scout that had been grounded, and they immediately surged toward it in a rabid swarm as they tore it to pieces! The scout tried its best to fight against the worker ants, but even though it was stronger, it was far outnumbered, and it wasn't long before it was killed!

Jason thought about creating more subordinates, but he chose not to since his mana was already running low. He hadn't even revived any of his subordinates who died, since that would also take mana, and he decided that he wouldn't revive any dead subordinate until he was sure that all the monsters in this region had been killed.

Jason made sure that the fight here was going his way before he told the scout he was riding to move deeper into the forest so he could see what was happening with the soldier ants and his subordinates!

The soldier ants were all strong, and each of them would be at least a Pawn Rank III, but Jason had only sent four Rank III subordinates along with sixteen Rank II subordinates after them!

The sixteen Rank II subordinates were the first to attack the soldier ants!

...

As the soldier ants were led deeper into the forest, they began to come closer to the ground to try and attack the wolves they were chasing, and that was when the Rank II subordinates immediately lashed out from behind trees and slammed into the ones that were further back, dragging them to the ground and tearing into their wings with force!

The soldier ants fought back with their powerful mandibles as they tried to tear the Rank II's into pieces!

The Moonlight wolves naturally had higher strength and stamina than the Adamantine Ants, and if this were a regular battle between two even sides, then the wolves would have won easily. But the soldier ants all had high levels of mana and a [Mana Surge] skill that allowed them to boost their strength to high levels for a short period by sending mana through their body, so when they began fighting the Rank II's, they easily overwhelmed them.

The soldier ants were far stronger than the Rank II's, so they were able to throw many of them off, and they began to fight back and kill the Rank II's, but that only gave them a short moment of rest as they were immediately attacked by the Rank III's that were also hiding in the forest!

This time, they were faced with much more powerful opponents, and even with the boost that they were granted by the [Mana Surge] skill, they were still overwhelmed by the ferocity of the wolves! The Rank III's easily tore through and began killing some of the soldier ants!

The other soldiers didn't even know what was happening behind them as they continued chasing the wolves through the forests, and all the subordinates quickly began to run after the soldier ants as they formed a pincer maneuver that trapped the soldier ants between them!

Jason arrived on the scene to see ten of his subordinates fighting against six soldier ants. Six of the Pawn Rank II's had been killed by the soldier ants already, but the subordinates had also managed to kill four of the soldier ants, and they were encircling the remaining six soldier ants and attacking them in a barrage of claws, teeth, and mandibles!

Jason quickly put his hand out toward the four dead soldier ants, and he called out.

"Resurrect!"

The entire region pulsed with Jason's mana, and the soldier ants were quickly dragged out from their bodies as they screeched loudly into the air!

The remaining soldier ants were shocked to see their comrades coming back to life, and their shock allowed Jason's subordinates to dash in for another attack!

The [Adamantine Ant Scout] Pawns made sure that the soldiers couldn't run away, and they constantly attacked the soldiers' wings to prevent them from getting into their stride! The Moonlight Wolf subordinates waited until the Soldier ants were low enough before they jumped and latched onto the soldiers' legs, bringing them down even further and then dogpiling them in fury!

The [Adamantine Ant Soldier] Pawns didn't waste any time in joining the battle, and they all charged straight for their former comrades, taking down many of them at once!

Even though they were both the same species, Jason's pawns had more power than the regular ants, so they were able to bring down their counterparts, allowing the other subordinates to kill them easily!

Jason looked around with his [Predator's Gaze] to make sure that there were no scouts in the region. There was a chance that a Scout would see what was happening and go report it to the main colony. If that happened, then Jason would lose his element of surprise!

So Jason continued to keep watch high in the sky, leaving his subordinates to finish off the last remaining ants that were trying their best to get away! The four [Adamantine Ant Soldiers] under Jason's control joined the other Pawn Rank III's in attacking the remaining soldier ants, and Jason could tell that they weren't going to last long against the brutal barrage!

The worker ants back at the entrance of the tunnel had all been caged in by the numerous subordinates, and since they couldn't fly, the only thing that they could do was try and fight their way out of the situation. But unfortunately for them, they weren't able to put up much of a fight against the massive numbers and ruthless aggression, and it wasn't long before they were all killed.

The battlefield quieted down a few seconds later and Jason finally turned to look at his system tab.

Jason let out a silent breath as he looked over the battlefield calmly. He had killed fifty-one Worker ants, ten soldier ants, and one scout in this battle.

He had already brought back ten of the worker ants and four of the soldier ants, so he only had forty-one worker ants, six soldier ants, and one scout to resurrect. But Jason decided not to do it immediately. The reason for this was simply because he was freaking tired.

Ordering all of the monsters around at the same time had seriously drained Jason's stamina, and resurrecting the few ants that he did took even more out from his mana. Jason needed to replenish both his stamina and mana before he would be at a hundred percent again.

'Charging into a fight without resting first would be stupid. The energy you have could be the difference between life and death.'

Jason told the scout that he was riding to take him back down to the ground, and he landed in the middle of the battlefield. The various subordinates came over to surround Jason, and Jason patted some of the wolves on the neck before turning to look at the large Adamantine Soldier ants that were standing over him. The soldier ants were huge, nearly as large as the Pawn rank III wolves, and Jason knew that it would take nothing less than an A Rank or a very high-level B Rank to kill a beast this powerful.

Jason sat on the ground and sent a mental command to the Soldiers and Scouts under his command to go and survey the area to make sure that no Scouts were lurking in the forest. They went to do as they were told, and Jason finally turned to really look through his system rewards.

The first thing that he looked through was the skills that he received. Mana Frenzy seemed self-explanatory, but when Jason activated the skill, he didn't feel any different from before.

'How do I activate it?'

[The user must send mana through his body to activate the skill]

The system responded quickly and Jason did as he was told and he sent a surge of mana through his entire body. There was a feeling of lightness that enveloped him, and Jason felt his already energized cells filling up with even more energy!

[The user has sent mana through his body.]

[Current Power Output: +30%]

Jason went towards one of the wolves standing at the side, and he put his hand under its belly, and easily lifted it off the ground. Jason chuckled before dropping the wolf back down and scratching its side.

Jason knew that he could do far more than that, but he decided that he would hold off from testing the limits of his strength since he might draw attention to himself.

The other skill, [Adamantine Hide], was also self-explanatory, and when Jason activated it, he saw a strange silvery substance covering his entire skin. The silvery substance flowed like water over Jason's body until it had covered him entirely. It made Jason look similar to the Silver Surfer, and Jason clenched and unclenched his hand while laughing at that analogy.

This was Jason's first defensive skill, and he couldn't say that he didn't like it.

'It'll be nice to have a shield so I can defend from a distance too. Maybe the next monster I kill will give me that.'

Jason deactivated the skill when he saw that it was consuming his mana, and he looked over his subordinates. Almost half of them had died in the battle, and Jason glanced at his mana points to see if he had enough mana to revive them yet.

Mana Points: 1020/1470

'It's still not full, but I should be able to use it to revive the dead monsters and resurrect the others.'

Jason nodded before he put his hand out and summoned the dead subordinates. Six Pawn Rank II, along with five Pawn Rank I subordinates, had died, and Jason used up three hundred mana points to revive them. The revived members joined up with the rest of the Legion, and Jason sent out a message to the subordinates around him and told them to gather the bodies of the dead ants.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC56: Milestone Completed

Chapter 56: Milestone Completed

Jason sent out a message to the subordinates around him and told them to gather the bodies of the dead ants. The Legion immediately moved to begin collecting the dead ants, and they also grabbed the numerous magic crystals inside them.

Jason already had six magic crystals from the monsters that he killed before he got here, so when he added the sixty-two magic crystals from these monsters, he had a total of sixty-eight. The crystals from the soldiers were larger than the crystals from the scouts, and the Magic Crystals from the scouts were also larger than the crystals from the workers, but Jason knew that all of them would bring in millions.

He threw them into his Alternate Dimension and then focused on the corpses.

Mana Points: 970/1470

Jason's mana had regenerated slightly after he used some of it to revive his subordinates that died in the previous fight, but he knew that resurrecting this many beasts at the same time was going to take a lot out of him. He looked into himself and felt for his stamina, and when he noticed that he wasn't feeling any tiredness anymore, he decided that he would just go ahead and do it.

Jason spread his mana out over the large pile of corpses and he spoke.

"Resurrect."

Doon!

A pulse of power traveled through the region as Jason felt his mana drop by close to four hundred points! A sudden tiredness crept into his heart and made a bead of sweat fall down the side of his face, but Jason refused to stop as he felt his mana grabbing hold of the souls of all the beasts before dragging them out!

A loud screech echoed through the forest as all the monsters emerged from their bodies!

Ding! Ding! Ding!

The sound of tabs opening on his system reached Jason, and Jason turned to see the notifications appearing.

Jason was surprised when he read the new abilities available for the pawns. This meant that he didn't have to worry about his pawns being weaker than the opponents in this Orange Gate anymore. If he sent two pawns out to fight against a stronger opponent, then it would be the same as sending three pawns since both of them would gain a 50% boost in their attack power. That was going to be very useful in the future when he goes to fight against the other entrances!

Jason sat on the floor and made sure that his subordinates were well spread out to watch the environment properly. The trees provided more than enough cover for them to make sure that nothing could sneak up while they were resting, and Jason had sent Scotus out to keep an eye on the surroundings and report back if there were any signs of any regular scouts heading their way.

He then looked over at the stats on his system tab and he frowned when he saw that he was still an A Rank. Jason had gained over fifty subordinates since he came into this Gate, so he thought he would have at least reached S Rank by now, but for some reason, he just wasn't able to get past A Rank.

'Is there some way to see the progression of the system ranking?'

[Yes, the user can view the rank progression percentage in the system tab. Would the user like to make the progression percentage visible? Yes/No?]

Jason chose yes immediately. He didn't feel comfortable not knowing how well he was doing with his own strength. It was possible to tell how powerful he was by gauging his strength against other monsters, but why waste time doing that when he could just view his strength progression using the system?

[As the user grows stronger, the system suggests that the user gains stronger subordinates in order to increase the growth rate of the user's progression percentage.]

——

Jason read through everything the system sent quickly, and he hummed as he finally understood his system. Jason already knew that he gained a different percentage for each stat with each monster type that he takes as a subordinate, but he didn't think that the difference would be this high!

The wolves that Jason fought in the Moonlight Den Red Gate gave Jason a lot more Agility and Strength since they were designed for fast and hard movement, their durability score was very low, so Jason didn't get much from that.

But the Adamantine Ants had a lot of Durability and Agility, so those two stats were rising far faster than the others. Strength and Stamina were both creeping upwards at a terribly slow pace and Jason knew it was because the Adamantine Ants had low Strength and Stamina stats.

'If I could gain more than ten percent from each subordinate, then I would be able to grow faster. Well, I shouldn't be worried about that. I'll just work towards gaining more kill points so I can upgrade the soldier ants into Rooks and use them to kill stronger beasts.'

Jason nodded to this thought, and once he thought this, he suddenly remembered that he had gained more than enough kill points to finally level up one of the Pawn Rank III subordinates to the Rook Class!

Jason gained a wide smile on his face once he realized this and opened the tab immediately! Jason had been wondering for a while now what it would be like to have a Rook Class subordinate! All the monsters that Jason had killed so far were all Pawns, and Jason knew that even though they were strong, they wouldn't even hold a candle to the other classes!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC57: Rook Class Subordinate

Chapter 57: Rook Class Subordinate

All the monsters that Jason had killed so far were all Pawns, and Jason knew that even though they were stronger, they wouldn't even hold a candle to the other classes!

Just to upgrade from Pawn Rank III to Rook Rank I, Jason needed to get two thousand kill points! It was four times higher than what it took to upgrade from Pawn Rank II to Pawn Rank III, and that number told Jason that the upgrade was going to change everything about the monster!

Right now, Jason's strongest monster was on the same level as a Country-level Eldritch Rank, the same as the Red Gate Boss. But it was still far weaker than what Jason knew he needed. A Red Gate boss wouldn't even put up a good fight against an A Rank, and Jason knew that if he fought against a guild with high-ranking members and they had a supporter who could boost their strength, then they would be able to beat his Legion.

Although most guilds saw supporters as lesser than Brawlers and Emitters, there was a reason why they were still one of the most sought-after superhuman types out there. A supporter could make or break a Gate Dive by providing enough boosts to the superhumans. There are various types of supporters. Some supporters could only boost one of the four stat types, like Agility-boosting supporters or Strength-boosting supporters, and some supporters could boost a certain element or even the level of mana in a superhuman. Like fire-based supporters who could increase the fire output from skills or spells.

However, the supporters were limited by how much mana they had as well as how high their power level was. A supporter who was only a C Rank wouldn't do much to help a teammate who was an A Rank, and a supporter who could only boost your power for five minutes or less might not be very useful in fights against hundreds of monsters.

As far as Jason was concerned, the brawlers and emitters were important, but in a real fight, he would first find and eliminate the supporters. They were the backbone of any group, and he wouldn't risk losing because some fucker decided to boost a Brawler's strength to something beyond what Jason could handle.

Jason turned back to his system and decided that it was time for him to finally create the Rook Class subordinate. Jason had about three thousand kill points right now, and he was going to use two thousand of them to transform one of his Pawn Rank III's into a Rook. But Jason wasn't going to do anything more than that. Jason knew that he could use a thousand points to transform two Pawn Rank II's into Pawn Rank III's, but he was going to hold onto the points and wait until he had more so that he could use them to transform another Pawn Rank III into a Rook.

Jason was already thinking about the future, and he knew that he would rather have multiple Rooks when facing off against the Eldritch Class Queen than having just a single Rook and multiple Pawns.

[Does the user wish to transfer 2000 kill points into upgrade points? Yes/No?]

The system sent a confirmation message, and Jason easily chose yes and watched as the 2000 kill points transferred into 20 upgrade points. Jason then looked around at the subordinates with a critical gaze. It was important to be careful when choosing which of his subordinates he was going to upgrade now. Jason knew that he had to think seriously about this.

Jason had Pawn Rank III's in both the Adamantine Ant and the Moonlight Wolf subordinates, but from what Jason had seen, the Adamantine Ant soldiers were capable of holding their own against the Pawn Rank III Moonlight Wolves even before they were made into his subordinates.

Dragging out the soul of a creature and making them into one of his Legion always increased their strength, so Jason knew that the Pawn Rank III [Adamantine Ant] was definitely stronger than the Pawn Rank III [Moonlight Wolf].

'The wolves have strong teeth and claws, but the ants can fly and their mandibles can tear through the wolf's skin. If I make one of them into a Rook, then their durability would rise even higher than before, and I'll have a creature that can stand up against the Queen with me.'

Jason's thoughts flowed with ease as he considered the benefits and disadvantages of each one, and he realized that his choice was an easy one. Besides, Jason knew that the Adamantine Ants all had a strong exoskeleton that gave them higher durability than the Wolves. And since he was making a Rook, Jason was sure that the subordinate would gain a boost in its defenses.

So Jason would put his faith in the Adamantine Ant instead so he gains more benefits. He was going to gain a lot more by transforming the Adamantine Ant, so that is what he was going to do.

Jason called on the Pawn Rank III Adamantine Ant that was closest to him, and it skittered over quickly. The creature got really close to Jason and used its mandibles to rub against him, and Jason patted its head gently with a smile before he looked up at the screen above its head.

Jason took a second to read through before he simply sent the points to the ant's system and watched as the ant suddenly began to glow.

The ant's entire body glowed with a dull purple hue, and it released a low screech as it began to mutate gradually. Its mandibles grew larger along with its overall size, and the silvery metal shell around its body grew even thicker as it formed a heavier exoskeleton.

On the left side of its body, the image of a Rook Piece etched itself in black, with the number 1 written inside it. Jason raised a brow at the number, and he could only guess that the number was meant to denote the ant as Jason's first Rook Piece.

The ant now had stronger joints and a tough appearance that made it look like some sort of impenetrable fortress! Just looking at it would tell anyone that it was built to withstand an impossible number of attacks!

The Adamantine Ant Soldier had been on the same level as the Moonlight Wolf Boss in its normal state. That meant it was strong enough to withstand attacks from B Ranks, and it could even stand up to an A Rank if it really tried. But now that it was a Rook, Jason could tell that it would be able to easily handle an A Rank superhuman in a fight. That meant it was on the same level as the Boss of this Gate. An Eldritch Rank monster.

In fact, there was a chance that it would tank one or two attacks from S ranks as long as they weren't too high-level!

Chapter 58: Hierarchy System

[The Hierarchy feature will allow the user to teach his subordinates how to act in the middle of a battle, and give them different roles and duties that they will always follow, thereby allowing them to lead their own army of subordinates into battle and reducing the load on the user.]

Jason frowned as he read this and he quickly turned to read the other tabs that opened beside him. The entire situation seemed very complicated, but Jason was able to understand it easily enough. It was simply saying that he was going to be gaining more lieutenants who could command the privates when he was absent.

This was likely going to save him a lot of trouble with his army. Jason's stamina was gradually improving, but it was still not high enough for him to command every single subordinate by himself. At this rate, Jason was more and more likely to run out of stamina in the middle of an important battle.

But with there being other commanders that were giving their own commands to the army, Jason wouldn't have to worry about controlling every little thing and he could just focus on the major players while leaving the others to his commanders.

Jason read through everything from the system rather quickly before he finally turned up to look at the tab above his ant's head.

[In order to upgrade this subordinate, the user must ensure its Hierarchy level reaches 100% from experience on the battlefield, and the user must then supply a sufficient amount of upgrade points.]

——

'So the number on its side wasn't because it was my first Rook-class subordinate. It's the Hierarchy level.'

Jason turned to look at the number that was printed on the side of the ant. The (1) there meant that the ant was a level one commander in his army and it would only be able to control ten subordinates until Jason raised its level.

Jason hummed and scratched his chin as he read this. It was a little disappointing that he wouldn't be able to just upgrade his subordinates anymore after getting enough points.

The fact that Jason needed five thousand kill points just to raise the ant from Rook Rank I to Rook Rank II didn't really surprise Jason that much. It just made Jason's anticipation grow since he knew that the payoff would be worth the effort to get the points.

The system was basically telling him that the only way he could upgrade his subordinates was by putting them in as many battles as possible to make sure that they increased their hierarchy level percentage. And then when they get to a hundred percent, he would be able to give them the upgrade points that they needed to level up to the next hierarchy level.

'That means I'll have twelve hierarchy levels. The Rook Rank I will be the first and the Queen Rank III should be the twelfth level. I wonder how many subordinates it'll be able to command.'

Jason suddenly turned when one of the Adamantine Ant Scouts under his control warned him that there was a scout coming from the horizon. Jason quickly told three of the scouts to go and apprehend it, and three of them flew off quickly to attack the ant scout!

Jason then told the other ants to block the entrance of the tunnel on this side. Jason's plan was to go around and block all the entrances while killing as many of the ants as possible. That way, when he finally goes inside the hill, Jason wouldn't have to worry about any ants escaping through the exits.

The ants started to gather large rocks and tree trunks with their large mandibles to follow Jason's orders, and the wolves helped in moving any rock that was too large for them to carry alone.

Jason didn't bother paying much attention to them since he was sure that they would be able to handle the scout, so he just turned to his system to look through the improvements to his stats from the upgrade.

Now that the ant was a Rook, he was gaining 30% of its stats and that allowed his mana to shoot all the way up to three thousand.

——

Mana Points: 2550/3628

Jason also gained a boost in his other stats and his durability was very close to breaking into the S Rank.

Jason was sure that only a few more kills would allow him to break into the S Rank in Durability and then it was a race between Stamina and Strength to see which one would get to a hundred percent faster.

Jason wasn't putting much faith in Strength since Jason knew that these ants were more durable than they were strong, so it was more likely that his stamina would get to a hundred before his strength.

Jason got the message of his kill just a few seconds before he felt the ants telling him that they had finished off the scout. Jason told them to bring the corpse to him and it wasn't long before they dropped it in front of him and he resurrected it like the others.

With that done, Jason finally decided that it was time for them to start moving towards the other entrances and finish them off as well. Jason had already spent the better part of two hours in this Gate and at this rate, he was likely to be here for at least six hours before he could get back.

But the good thing about his ability was the fact that Jason didn't have to worry about a battle being prolonged. Jason was at an advantage against stubborn enemies and the longer a battle dragged on the stronger he became and the more likely he was to win.

Jason only needed to continue gathering as many subordinates as possible and at the end of the battle, an entire army would be beside him when he faced off against the final boss.

Jason turned to the side and called on three Pawn Rank III Pawns - two Adamantine ants and one Moonlight wolf - before he then called on three Pawn Rank II Moonlight wolves and four Pawn Rank I Adamantine Ant Workers.

'They'll be the subordinates of the Rook from now on. Since the system says the Rook will only grow its hierarchy from having experience commanding others on the battlefield, I think this should be enough for it to work. Make sure you look after them, do you understand?'

Jason looked the large Rook Ant in the eye as he thought this and the Ant screeched while moving its mandibles to tell Jason that it understood.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC59: The Rook's Battle

Chapter 59: The Rook's Battle

Jason looked the large Soldeir Ant Rook in the eye as he commanded it to look after its subordinates, and the Ant screeched while moving its mandibles to tell Jason that it understood.

The ten subordinates that Jason had put under the Rook's command suddenly underwent special changes of their own. Their fur and exoskeleton began to grow tougher and thicker as their durability increased by a hundred percent, and they moved to stand around the Rook obediently, showing that they were now taking orders from both Jason and the Rook.

The added defenses would allow them to tank at least twice as many attacks as they would normally withstand. This would be perfect for when Jason wanted to attack an area that had high-level attackers.

Jason nodded at their changes with a small smile before he started to lay out a plan.

They would keep to their regular formation as they moved towards the next tunnel entrance, but this time, the Rook and his subordinates were going to be in front, leading the charge. They had the highest defenses out of all his subordinates, so they would bear the brunt of attacks from the ants first, and then after wearing them down, the others would charge in for an attack.

"Your goal is to tire them out as quickly as possible. Keep them contained and make sure they can't escape by taking their wings off. That way, we'll be able to deal with the faster ones. You understand?"

Jason said this to the Rook and the Rook screeched again once it received its orders before it quickly let out a screech towards its own subordinates. The ten that Jason had picked to work under it all moved to stand behind it, and Jason watched as it screeched at them in a threatening way, almost like it was making sure they understood that they were to obey him.

Jason nodded at its initiative, and he called on the scout that he had been riding earlier. The scout came and lay down on the ground to allow him to climb on. He then ordered the entire Legion to charge forward, and they all headed out towards the next entrance together!

...

The Adamantine Ant Hill was a colony made up of more than three hundred ants. They had formed a well-oiled, functioning society that was capable of operating independently of any leader and didn't need any form of interference from outside parties for them to carry out their functions.

In fact, their system was so well organized that even if a Queen were to die at that moment, they would still be able to continue working without realizing what they had lost, and in no time at all, the workers would have already nurtured a new Queen that would handle the colony.

The colony as a single unit was the most dominant race existing on this hill, and there were no enemies or organisms that could pose a threat to them at all.

The entrance that Jason had fought at was the western entrance that led to the back of the hill. The Adamantine ants used a North-East-West-South cardinal pattern to make sure that they could protect all four regions of their terrain without any breaks.

The ants at the other entrances of the cave were still completely unaware of the dangers that were coming for them! And Jason decided that the next entrance he would attack was the Northern Entrance!

A large Adamantine Ant scout was hovering in the air and looking out into the horizon for any signs of danger. Its beady eyes roamed from left to right as it watched the territory religiously and the only sound in the area was the beating of its wings as it hovered in the air. But the ant suddenly felt shock pass through its body as it saw another scout coming from the distance.

The regular scout buzzed around gently as it wondered why the new scout was coming all the way over here. The scouts all had a different part of the terrain to watch over, and they didn't move away from their terrain unless there was a serious issue and they needed to call for help from the other terrains!

So the scout immediately guessed that the new scout was coming to them in order to ask for help, and it sent a signal out to the other scouts around it and told one of them to go and intercept the incoming scout and ask it what it was doing here!

The third scout buzzed away towards the incoming scout calmly to meet it on the way, but the original scout felt an even bigger shock pass through its body when the new scout suddenly used its mandible to tear the third scout's wings in half!

The first scout reeled back in shock as it realized that something was seriously wrong and it was about to send out a signal to the other scouts and tell them to prepare to kill the new scout! There was something wrong with that scout and they needed to get rid of it before it affected the colony!

But it suddenly froze when it saw the space around the incoming scout ripple with a purple light, like waves across water! And from within those ripples, ten more ants emerged!

The incoming ants were made up of both scouts and soldiers, but they all had purple streaks across their bodies that showed that they had gone through some sort of mutation! Now that it was looking closer, the first scout could see that the incoming ants looked larger than what they were supposed to look like! What the hell happened to them!?

The ants were heading towards them quickly, and in front of all these ants was one ant that was completely different from anything the scout had ever seen before! It was meant to be a soldier ant, but its body was covered in an exoskeleton that looked nearly three times tougher than what the other soldiers had! This was definitely not normal!

The scout immediately realized that they were under attack! It didn't know what in the world had happened to its comrades, but it didn't care! At that moment, the only instinct in its mind was to protect the colony!

It sent a signal to all of the soldier ants on the ground, warning them of the incoming danger!

The number of ants here was the same as there were in the other entrances! Fifty worker ants were carrying vegetation and dead carcasses into the tunnel to feed the colony, and ten soldier ants were tasked with protecting the workers and making sure that no enemies made it through the entrance!

The soldier ants all perked up the moment they heard the scout's signal, and they began to buzz into the air with an air of hostility surrounding them! The worker ants didn't bother to stop their movement as they continued carrying vegetation and carcasses! They were certain that the soldiers would be able to protect them from anything that attacked, so they didn't need to worry!

The soldiers arranged themselves into a formation and charged forward, and from his place on the other side of the forest, Jason watched with his blood-red eyes while riding on one of his scouts.

Jason had multiple wolves and ants hiding in the forest below and waiting for the soldiers to leave so that they could attack. Jason already decided that he would leave the Rook in charge of handling the soldiers since Jason was curious to see just how well it could perform against them. He would leave the worker ants and the remaining scouts to the rest of the Legion. Jason was sure that they would have enough power to overwhelm them!

The soldier ants reached the Rook and immediately attacked it with all their force! The soldier ants all knew that the Rook was the most dangerous enemy there! The others were also dangerous, but the Rook was the largest and sturdiest, so they automatically determined that it was the strongest! Five of them rushed the Rook and the other five began to move towards the other ants flying behind the Rook for an attack!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC60: Commanding The Legion

Chapter 60: Commanding The Legion

Five of the Soldier ants immediately rushed the Rook, and the other five began to move towards the other ants flying behind the Rook for an attack!

SCREEEECHH!!

But before they could cause any harm, they were shocked by a massive screech from one of the soldier ants that had gone to attack the Rook! All of the soldier ant's attacks had been completely negated by the Rook, and the Rook didn't even look like it was feeling anything that they were doing! They continued trying to attack while sending mana to their limbs to increase their strength even more! But suddenly, the Rook grabbed one of them by the wing and snapped its mandibles down on the soldier ant's waist, tearing it in half like it was a piece of paper and making it release a loud screech in pain!

The other ants were all stunned into silence by that act! They knew that they were strong, so seeing one of their own being killed like it wasn't even worthy of any effort made them come to a damning realization! The Rook was far stronger!

The soldier ants tried to think of another tactic to use and win against the Rook, but they weren't even able to do anything as the Rook activated the skill [Linear Charge]! A bright purple light appeared in front of the Rook's head in the form of a shield, and the Rook suddenly gathered a massive amount of mana behind it and unleashed all the mana at once!

TWOOM!

The Rook suddenly blasted forward like a railgun as it tore through the horde of soldier ants! The skill [Linear Charge] increases the Rook's attack power by 500% when it is attacking in a straight line, and even though it would have been easy for a more powerful or a faster opponent to dodge the Rook's charge since it was just a straight line, the soldier ants weren't so lucky! The skill was perfect for dealing with a large crowd of enemies, and the soldier ants had gathered in the perfect way for the Rook to take advantage of it!

Three of the soldier ants died on the spot once the Rook blasted through them! Their bodies were completely eviscerated by the Rook's charge, and they weren't even able to put up a defense before they were torn to shreds! The last one that was remaining in front of the Rook had two of its legs and one wing torn off by the attack! It lost its ability to fly, and it could only let out a pained screech as it began falling to the ground!

Back with the other five soldiers that had attacked the remaining ants behind the Rook, the shock was still evident in their expressions as they watched the Rook easily tear through their numbers! They looked at the monster that had once been their own comrade and let out shrieks of fear as they immediately began trying to get away from him! Even if they cared about the colony, they were still creatures with their own consciousness, so they were smart enough to run away when it looked like there was no chance for them to win!

But they weren't able to go far before the other ants quickly attacked them! The rest of the Legion had also watched the Rook's impressive display, and they were left in awe by his strength and speed! This allowed them to attack without any fear since they knew that they had the more powerful ally and they began to tear the other soldier ants to pieces immediately!

The soldier ant that the Rook had injured fell to the ground in a heap and let out a shriek as it tried to climb to its feet! It was preparing to run back to the entrance and tell the scouts that they should warn the colony of the impending doom! The colony could be wiped out by this danger!

But the ant never got to reach its destination as it heard a growl echo from behind it! The ant stopped crawling forward and turned around slowly in fear and it was immediately greeted by the snarling face of a six-foot-tall wolf!

SCREEECH!!

The ant screeched and the wolf pounced immediately!

Up in the sky, overlooking the movement of his legion, Jason watched with calm, expressionless eyes. In one hand, he held his Moonlight Wolf dagger and he was calmly twirling it as he ran through hundreds of different scenarios in his head. Jason was getting better at sending messages to his Legion members, and he knew that he needed to get even better so that he would preserve more of his stamina. With more than a hundred members now, he had to make sure that every message was as straightforward as possible.

Jason was paying attention to everything happening all at once. Jason was already used to multitasking. As a child, he worked three jobs all at the same time, and after his older sister ran away from home, he took care of his younger sister when his mother was running the diner while also going to school. His brain had gotten so used to thinking about more than one thing at once that he was able to seamlessly slide into the role of commanding and moving his Legion in the best ways.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jason caught sight of a scout that was trying to slowly escape from the fight, and Jason told the Pawn he was riding to immediately follow it! The Pawn turned in that direction and began to fly after the escaping ant!

The scout was moving quickly, and Jason knew that it was only a matter of time before it reached an area where other scouts would see it, so he pulled his hand back and threw his dagger with a grunt!

Woosh!

SQUELCH!

The sound of the knife tearing into the ant's wing echoed through the region, and Jason watched as the scout lost its balance and immediately fell to the ground! Jason's scout landed right on top of it and began to tear into it with reckless abandon as Jason walked over to where his knife had fallen and picked it up calmly.

'It is a crap weapon.'

Jason frowned when he saw that the dagger's durability dropped just from that one throw. You would think that the dagger would at least last for a few months, but at this rate, Jason was sure that it wouldn't be able to withstand even a single attack from an Eldritch Class monster.

The Adamantine Ant Scout was on the same level as the Moonlight Wolf Boss' subordinates that Jason fought earlier, so it was at the same level as two very high-level C Ranks. It was shocking that something like this could reduce the durability of an A Rank weapon this much.

Jason twirled the knife with one hand while putting his other hand in his pocket and began to walk toward his scout. He spread his mana through the area and used it to cover the dead scout's body. He was going to have to get a stronger weapon sooner or later - preferably another dagger. But for now, this would just have to do.

Jason called out to the ant that he had killed, and it immediately tore itself out from the body and screeched in obedience.

Jason told it to grab the crystal from its body before ordering it to go and join the others in dealing with the enemies.

Once it was gone, Jason threw the new crystal into his Alternate Dimension before he looked ahead with his [Predator's Gaze] once more. The skill allowed him to see clearly for a kilometer in any direction, so he was more than capable of picking up any movement from the distance. After Jason made sure that there was nothing around, he climbed back on his scout and took off for the fight.

But even though Jason could see clearly for more than a kilometer, that didn't mean he could see through objects, and this meant he completely missed the appearance of a single ant scout that had been hiding behind a tree to avoid his gaze. The ant scout had seen what Jason did to the previous scout, and it immediately hid itself in the bushes to make sure that Jason couldn't see it.

The scout had been coming from the eastern entrance, and Jason's presence here told it that the northern entrance had been overrun by intruders! It had to get to the colony and report this before the intruder reached them! The ant slowly emerged from its hiding spot when it was sure that Jason was no longer paying it any attention, and it took off into the sky to reach the eastern entrance!

Boom!

All of a sudden, the ant felt an immense pressure press down on it as its entire body shook! It turned around sharply and screeched in fear as it saw Jason's blood-red eyes glaring at it like the fucking devil himself!

The ant immediately doubled its effort and dashed away from the scene! It was far away from Jason, so it knew that Jason wouldn't be able to reach it before it reached the next entrance, so it just kept going!

Jason clicked his tongue in irritation as he watched the ant fly away. He thought about going after it, but he knew that there was nothing he could do that would allow him to reach the ant before it got to the next entrance, and chasing after the ant would take him too far away from the Legion and ruin his plans. The only thing that Jason could do now was to go back and come up with a new plan of action based on this development.

——

The user has killed [10] Adamantine Ant Workers

Jason ordered his subordinate to keep going, and the ant screeched as it started flying back toward where the Legion was finishing off the last of the ants.

Jason knew that the scout that escaped would warn the colony about his presence, but he wasn't really bothered because he had already blocked out two of the entrances to prevent them from escaping.

Now, he had to make a new plan that would allow him to handle both of the remaining entrances at the same time. Jason currently had over forty thousand kill points, which would allow him to take at least one more Rook Rank I and then boost some of the Pawn Rank IIs to Rank III. If he did that and then sent the second Rook towards the second entrance, then they could launch a two-pronged attack.

The second Rook and its subordinates would attack the eastern entrance, drawing all the attention of the ants inside the colony to them. Since they all had extraordinary defenses, Jason didn't have to worry about them dying easily.

Then, while that was shaping on the eastern tunnel, Jason with the first Rook and the rest of the Legion would make their way through the southern tunnel. They'd kill their way through the ants there and then they'd head for the center of the hill where the Queen was resting.

Jason came up with this plan on the spot, and from how quickly the situation was developing, it was the best he could do for now. Jason reached the scene of the battle between his ants and the ants from the colony, and he saw that all the regular ants had already been wiped out by his legion.

The dead bodies of the regular ants littered the area, and the Legion members were already starting to gather the Magic Crystals from the ants' bodies before bringing the dead carcass to the center of the field. Jason hummed when he realized that it was the Rook that had made the others start working, and the Rook was also making sure that they didn't get distracted and did their work properly.

'Did the monster get more intelligent when it evolved? The ant wasn't capable of this much reasoning before.'

The way it was now, the Rook had an intelligence that was on par with a mid-iq human. It could reason for itself and it had enough intelligence to come up with new tasks to accomplish after the previous task was finished.

Jason thought on this for a few seconds before he simply decided not to think about it too much. Jason was glad that the Rook was starting to take initiative. This meant that Jason didn't have to worry about using up his stamina to order the Legion around for simple matters like these again. The Legion would follow the orders of any member that was higher than it in the hierarchy.

As he reached the Legion, he took the Magic Crystals that they offered him and he put them into his Alternate Dimension before he quickly spread his mana out towards all the bodies on the ground and gave the order.

"Resurrect."

Boom!

The entire region pulsed with power as Jason's mana flew through the air, and at the next moment, the ants all let out screeches as they were pulled from their bodies!

'The stats are really one-sided because of how the ant's stats are distributed. Most of it is going to Agility and Durability.'

If it was this difficult to get into the S Rank, Jason could only wonder how hard it would be to make it into SS Rank. As you get stronger, the differences between the ranks become more and more apparent. That is why there were only five SS Ranks in the entire world and only ten S Ranks in the whole of America.

It was only through relentless effort and good potential that you were fortunate enough to make it up to those ranks.

But Jason didn't care about any of that. He was going to make it up to those ranks and surpass them before long, he swore it. If his father's warning was true, then his family was going to be in danger soon. He needed to get stronger to make sure he could handle anything that attacked them.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC62: Two-Pronged Attack

Chapter 62: Two-Pronged Attack

If his father's warnings were true, then his family was going to be in danger soon. He needed to get stronger to make sure he could handle anything that attacked them.

Jason called out to the Legion and began to explain his new plan of action. Jason had initially planned to attack the eastern entrance next before moving onto the southern entrance, but now that the ants in the colony were expecting him, Jason was going to be carrying out a two-pronged attack.

Jason had enough points to make one more rook and promote four of the Pawn Rank II subordinates to Pawn Rank III. If he did that, then he would have two Rooks and twenty Rook subordinates and one of them could lead the charge at one of the entrances alone.

Jason told four Pawn Rank II scouts to go ahead of the Legion to both of the entrances. Two to each one.

'Report back with information on what the colony is doing. If they are preparing to launch an attack here, then send a signal.'

Jason gave them this order and they all screeched in understanding before they took off to go and do as they were told. Jason still wasn't certain of how far he could communicate with the ants, but from the fights that he had with the colony here, he was at least sure that he could communicate with them over the distance between tunnel entrances.

'It should be about one kilometer. Beyond that, the signals get a little distorted. System, is there a set distance for communication?'

[No, the user does not have a specific distance for communication with his Legion. Communication range increases with the user's strength, so the user must improve his overall strength before he will be able to communicate over longer distances.]

'Yeah, that makes sense.'

Jason wasn't surprised since he already guessed it was something like that. His communication range had been steadily increasing with each power-up he received, so he was sure that getting stronger would allow him to communicate with the Legion over longer distances.

Jason finally turned away from the system messages and called on the large Black Moonlight Wolf Boss. It trekked forward menacingly and stood in front of Jason, and Jason felt a small laugh bubble up at how freaking tall the bastard was. It towered over him like some sort of mythological monster!

Jason carried the kill points and converted them to upgrade points.

[Does the user wish to convert 4000 Kill points into 40 upgrade points? Yes/No]

Jason chose yes quickly and he watched as the points moved into the upgrade tab. Jason then looked up at the system tab of the Moonlight Wolf Boss and transferred the points that it needed into its system.

The wolf's body was immediately enveloped in a bright purple light as it began to grow even larger than it already was! The wolf had once been six meters tall—more than twice Jason's height—but now it was easily surpassing seven meters!

Its fur grew stronger and tougher, and its shoulders gained bony structures that served as defensive mechanisms in case of a frontal attack. On the left side of its body, a rook piece with the number one written on it appeared, denoting it as a commander in the first rank.

Its teeth became sharper and every time it snarled, it exposed a thick, dangerous set of teeth that would be enough to put the fear of the divine into anyone's body!

——

The Moonlight Wolf let out a loud howl once its transformation was complete and Jason watched it appreciatively with his hands in his pockets. Jason could no longer look at the wolf without straining his neck upwards and he frowned slightly before mentally telling the wolf to take a few steps back so he could see it properly.

His monsters were all larger than him in almost comical ways, and if anyone saw them, they would never be able to guess that Jason was the leader rather than the multiple large monsters surrounding him.

The new Rook had the same properties and buffs that all the Rook class subordinates were entitled to, so Jason simply picked out ten pawn-rank subordinates for it to be in charge of. Since the Rook couldn't fly, Jason decided it would be best if most of the subordinates it controlled were ground-based monsters with only a few flying monsters. That way it would be able to keep track of all of them and make sure they were following orders properly.

Jason chose one Pawn Rank III wolf, five Pawn Rank II wolves, and four Pawn Rank II Adamantine Ants Scouts to serve as the Wolf's subordinates. Once they were chosen, they slowly began to mutate. Their bodies grew sturdier and tougher and there was an increase in their defenses. They also gained the [Stone Wall] skill that would allow them to reduce the damage taken from ranged attacks. Jason nodded in appreciation of the changes before he called four Rank II Pawns—two wolves and two ants—and quickly shared the two thousand upgrade points that he still had into their systems.

The pawns all changed immediately. Growing larger and stronger as they transformed into Rank II pawns. The wolves grew taller and the ants became tougher and their skins grew a brilliant luster that improved their defenses.

'That should be enough preparation.'

Jason still had about three hundred kill points left, but he couldn't use it for anything meaningful right now, so he was going to save it for when he had more points so he could use it in improving the Legion even more. Once he was done, Jason turned in the direction of the next ant entrance and sent a mental message to the scouts he sent out to ask them what was happening at the other entrances.

The scouts sent a message that the colony workers were retreating back into the hill while the soldiers were forming a protective wall outside the entrance. They were trying to create a stronghold inside the tunnel and block all the entrances to prevent anyone from entering. Jason frowned once he heard this and he called the Adamantine Ant Rook and told it to lower itself so he could climb on.

Once Jason was on it, he turned to the Moonlight Wolf Boss and ordered it to take half of the Legion towards the southern entrance and make its way into the colony. Jason and the rest of the Legion were going to head towards the eastern entrance and make their way inside from there.

The Legion already blocked the northern and western exits, so Jason was sure that the ants wouldn't be able to escape from there, so he was going to launch a two-pronged attack that would lead straight to the Queen at the center of the colony.

The large Moonlight Wolf let out a growl of understanding as it received Jason's orders and Jason turned away with the Adamantine Ant Rook and told it to take off. Jason didn't have to use up too much stamina explaining the entire plan to the other ants under the command of the Rooks, but he gave an order to the other creatures that weren't Rook subordinates and told them to follow the orders of the Rook if he wasn't there.

Jason took off on the back of the Ant Rook and all the subordinates that were coming with him vanished into his Alternate Dimension to preserve mana and stamina. The Moonlight Wolf Rook took off running in the opposite direction with all the other subordinates and Jason just hoped that nothing unpredictable happened while they were carrying out the plan.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC63: The Queen's Rage

Chapter 63: The Queen's Rage

The ant colony was in absolute disarray as they hurried around their cavern and tried their best to bring up their defenses and protect their Queen! They had received a message from one of the scouts about an attacker that had taken out both the northern and western entrances, and they knew for a fact that any intruder capable of doing something like that was too strong for them to take on in a straight fight!

So, the Queen had ordered all of them to begin mounting defenses inside the tunnels. First, they began to block the tunnel entrances with as many rocks and hardened mud balls as possible to keep the intruders out, then they started breaking the tunnel ground apart to make sure that the intruder couldn't get to the Queen.

The soldiers and scouts were constantly flying around to supervise and make sure that workers were moving as quickly as possible while the Queen focused all of her energy on sending mental signals to her children and telling them what to do.

The ant colony was shaped like a large ball in the center of the hill, with four large tunnels protruding out from the four axes of the ball and spreading out in the north, east, west, and south directions. Those four tunnels were then spread out into many smaller tunnels that allowed the ants to move around freely between tunnels. But for the most part, the ants always stayed in their own main tunnel and worked on getting leaves and dead animals to the Queen, who was located in the middle of the colony ball.

The Queen of the ants was a large, majestic-looking creature with a silvery exoskeleton, large, dangerous mandibles, and two long antennae on its head. It towered over the other ants, standing at nearly twelve feet, and it possessed strong mental abilities that allowed it to communicate with almost a hundred ants all at the same time, sending signals and orders to them with quick signal bursts.

The Queen had ten strong ants surrounding its resting place as guards and breeders. These ants were the strongest soldiers of the colony, with each one possessing the strength of at least three soldier ants. Their job was to impregnate the Queen and to make sure that the other ants never got near her without invitation.

Inside the colony, the Queen's life was perfect and there were no dangers that could ever harm her, but now that they were under attack, the Queen was in turmoil. She was sending signals very quickly to try and make all the ants prepare themselves for the intruders.

The Queen had been suspicious for a while now that there was something wrong, but she hadn't been sure because her signal didn't allow her to reach all the way outside the cavern. The Queen could give the ants orders to go and gather food from outside, but once they were out there, it was impossible for her to know what was happening. She could only find out what was happening if they came back and reported it.

So when many ants suddenly didn't return to the colony after going out to bring back food, the Queen became suspicious that there was something wrong. For a moment, the Queen thought that the ants had planned a revolution and wanted to create a new Queen to usurp her rule, but now that she was hearing the scout's signal about an intruder, she finally understood that they weren't going away from her control, they were being killed!

The Queen's mind raced as she tried to understand which monster could do something like this. Not only did it kill more than a hundred ants, but it also did it in such a short time. If the monster had killed only a few ants quickly, then the Queen would have thought it was the Rabid Tigers that sometimes attacked her colony, or maybe the Giant Ant Eaters that were their eternal enemies. That would have been an understandable situation.

But none of those beasts possessed the ability to do something this horrible. The monster was killing them all without any reservation; it was almost like the monster wasn't killing them for food, instead, they were being killed for some other reason.

The room that the Queen was in contained hundreds of eggs that were still going through gestation. She was lying on the ground calmly, and the large guards surrounding her came over and told her that the scout had given more information about the dead ants. It turned out that the monster that was killing them had the ability to resurrect the dead ants and add them to his personal army.

For a good long moment, the Queen was shocked into silence once she received this new information, but then a deep, raging anger filled her heart once she realized what was happening! This monster was killing her own children and taking them as its own! It was taking her colony away from her! How dare it!?

The Queen shouted to the guards, ordering them to go out and join the efforts to kill this monster once and for all! They couldn't lose any more of their numbers to this beast!

'Kill it and bring me its head!!'

The ants in the colony all felt the anger of their Queen, and that anger only served to drive them to work even faster. They began to form into large groups as they waited inside the tunnel entrances, anticipating any attack. Outside the tunnels, there were twenty soldiers waiting at each entrance. The soldier ants had formed a protective line in front of the tunnel entrance, and their job wasn't to stop the enemies from making their way into the tunnel. Instead, they were there to kill as many of the enemies as possible to make it easier for the workers and other soldiers inside the tunnel to handle the remaining enemies.

As Jason made his way to the eastern entrance, he could immediately see the large group of soldier ants waiting for him outside the tunnel, and he narrowed his eyes and tapped the Adamantine Ant Rook on the side to tell it to begin the plan. The Adamantine Ant Rook quickly screeched out to its subordinates! The subordinates all raced out from the Alternate Dimension and quickly went in front of Jason as they began heading straight for the soldier ants.

The Rook subordinates were all buffed with extra defenses, so Jason didn't have to worry about them being killed easily by the soldiers, even though they were weaker. The soldiers would tire themselves out fighting against the Rook subordinates and make it easier for the other ants to kill them.

The twenty soldier ants at the entrance noticed the enemies heading their way and immediately raced forward to intercept them. The ants didn't hold any false hope that they would be able to stop the enemies here. Their aim was to destroy as many of the attackers as possible before they could get to the entrance. So basically, they were willing to sacrifice their lives to ensure that they slowed the advance of the enemies.

But they had seriously underestimated the strength of the enemies coming for them! The subordinates that Jason had sent forward were all Rook Subordinates, and so they possessed a strength and durability that was far ahead of what any of the ants could handle!

The first soldier to reach the enemies immediately used its mandibles to bite down hard on the ant's wing in an effort to throw it to the ground, but it was shocked when its mandibles didn't even tear through the wing! It was like biting down on steel!
