"Worried about me? Don't be. Asuma attacked first; self-defense. The village won't touch me," Uchiha Kouki said casually, displaying a nonchalant attitude.
"True… but Kouki, I heard you beat Asuma using only taijutsu. He's a jōnin; your taijutsu is that good?" Might Guy asked, his tone tinged with a mixture of disbelief and self-doubt. He felt a sting of disappointment.
Unlike Kouki, who added three hours of intense taijutsu training to his already demanding schedule, Might Guy had dedicated his entire life to mastering taijutsu. Yet, despite his unwavering commitment, his skills paled in comparison to Kouki's.
He was still at the genin level, struggling to defeat even a fellow genin in a real fight, let alone a jōnin. Even a chunin could easily overpower him.
"Guy, don't be so hard on yourself. You'll become an amazing ninja!"
Uchiha Kouki patted Might Guy's shoulder, his gaze steady and serious as he spoke these words of encouragement.
Might Guy was taken aback. He'd always been treated as a failure, a nobody. No one had ever shown such unwavering belief in him, let alone praised his potential as a genius. However, he could sense the genuine sincerity in Kouki's words, not just casual encouragement.
A wave of emotion washed over Might Guy.
"You're actually a genius," Uchiha Kouki said, his words carrying a profound meaning.
"A genius… me?" Might Guy responded, his voice laced with self-deprecation and a hint of despair.
"You're a hardworking genius! Guy, don't you see? You possess a quality no other ninja possesses: an unyielding, iron will!"
"Where others practice once, you practice ten times! That iron will more than makes up for any lack of natural talent!"
"Guy, believe me, you'll surpass Asuma one day!"
"Whoa whoa whoa… Dude, why are you crying? And the snot… ew…"
Might Guy, overcome with emotion, let out a sob. "Kouki, no one's ever said those things to me. No one's ever valued me like this!"
"Okay, okay, let's get back to training. If Kurenai sees you like this, she'll think I beat you up," Uchiha Kouki said, waving him off with a look of playful exasperation.
Bang bang bang! Huff huff huff!
The two of them resumed their rigorous training, their movements a blur of focused exertion.
After three grueling hours of intense training, Kouki, as usual, bid farewell to Might Guy and headed home.
Whoosh whoosh!
As he passed through a deserted alleyway, two ninjas suddenly appeared, blocking his path. Their masked faces hinted at their affiliation—either Root or Anbu.
Kouki suspected Root, given the Third Hokage and Danzō's collaborative, yet contrasting, rule over Konoha. Hiruzen handled the overt affairs, while Danzō managed the clandestine operations. Such an open attack on an Uchiha was unlike Hiruzen, but perfectly in line with Danzō's ruthless methods.
"Uchiha Kouki, Danzō-sama requests your presence."
One of them, a ninja with a boar mask, spoke impassively. Kouki's guess was correct; they were indeed Root members.
"Tell Danzō I'm not going! Don't bother me again!" Kouki responded coldly.
Within Konoha's structure, Root was technically part of Anbu, but in reality, it was Danzō's private organization. Root's brutal and secretive methods instilled far greater fear than Anbu. But that was for ordinary people; Kouki held them in utter contempt. His strength spoke for itself.
Moreover, officially, Root was merely an Anbu training unit, specializing in cultivating elite special forces. All other Root activities were illegal. Theoretically, anyone could ignore their actions, even reporting Danzō to the Third Hokage for abuse of power and illegal operations.
Of course, no one dared. Disrespecting Root meant certain death, and Hiruzen would conveniently look the other way. After all, Root's actions were tacitly approved, and their power granted by the Hokage himself.
But Kouki dared.
"Unbelievable! You dare defy Danzō-sama's orders?!"
The two Root members were stunned, their voices filled with outrage and disbelief. Root's word was law in Konoha; no one dared disobey. Yet, this teenager showed such blatant disregard.
"Funny. The Hokage can order me; the Konoha Military Police Captain can order me. Danzō? Who does he think he is?"
Kouki sneered, his disdain evident in his tone and expression.
"Insolent! You're asking for death!"
The two Root members roared, their anger barely contained.
"Since you're defiant, don't blame us!"
The boar-masked ninja snarled, instantly appearing beside Kouki with the Body Flicker Technique, his hand reaching out to grab him.
"Get lost!"
Kouki lashed out, his hand meeting the ninja's, while simultaneously unleashing the immense power of "Almighty Push", sending a devastating force crashing down upon his opponent.
