Ye Chen, nephew… this… this is a Heavenly Flame?"
Nalan Su's voice trembled. His eyes widened as he stared at the pale-white fire dancing in Ye Chen's palm.
The aura it released was bizarre....biting cold yet scorching hot.
Slowly, the shock drained from his expression, replaced by irrepressible joy.
"That's right," Ye Chen replied with a calm nod. "What I hold here is indeed a Heavenly Flame."
The fire in his hand was none other than the Bone Spirit Cold Flame.
Since Yao Chen had become his soul slave, Ye Chen was now capable of wielding this fearsome flame.
"It truly is… a Heavenly Flame!"
"Ye Chen, nephew… you…"
Nalan Su's voice faltered. Even the famed Dan King Gu He had never succeeded in acquiring such a treasure.
The Heavenly Flames were unimaginably rare. To obtain one required not only extraordinary fortune but also immense backing.
Yet here Ye Chen stood, quietly holding one.
Nalan Su's mind leapt to the Yunlan Sect's master, Yun Yun. Could she have helped Ye Chen subdue this flame?
Although questions surged within, he did not ask aloud.
"Senior Brother, if you truly possess a Heavenly Flame… then you should be able to save my grandfather, right?"
Nalan Yanran's face lit up. She looked at Ye Chen with shining eyes, brimming with expectation.
"I'll give it a try," Ye Chen answered. He dared not make promises.
Although he could control the Bone Spirit Cold Flame, he still wasn't sure about the exact state of the branded poison within Nalan Jie's body.
If it proved too much, he could only let Yao Chen temporarily take control and act in his stead.
"Then I'll trouble you, Ye Chen, nephew."
Nalan Su led the way toward a side chamber.
A soft glow spilled through the half-open door as Ye Chen pushed it gently open.
The chamber was spacious. At its center stood a large bed, upon which lay an old man, his face shriveled and lifeless.
Several maidservants bustled around the bed, tending anxiously to the unconscious elder.
The sound of the door drew their eyes briefly, but they soon lowered them and resumed their careful work.
Ye Chen stepped closer. His gaze swept over the old man's features, and his expression darkened.
Patches of gray-black marred the skin, and the quiet, sleeping face bore the aura of death.
"It's as serious as I feared…" Ye Chen muttered.
"Yes." Nalan Su sighed heavily. "Branded Poison… even a Dou Huang would not dare to touch it. The Old Master surviving this long is already a miracle."
He shook his head, then asked cautiously, "Ye Chen, nephew… do you see any hope for treatment?"
"Senior Brother, you must save my grandfather!"
Nalan Yanran's eyes shimmered with tears as she pleaded. Her gaze clung to Ye Chen as though he were her last hope.
"It all depends on you, Ye Chen," Nalan Su added.
"If you succeed in healing the Old Master, then nothing will stand in the way between you and Yan'er."
At that, he cast a meaningful glance toward his niece.
Nalan Yanran's cheeks flushed crimson, though her heart leapt with joy.
"Uncle Nalan, rest assured," Ye Chen said firmly. "I will do everything in my power."
He settled himself at the bedside. Raising his right hand, he summoned the pale-white flame.
Instantly, the temperature in the room surged, waves of heat rippling through the air.
His gaze fixed on Nalan Jie's face.
Years of poison had ravaged it into something skeletal, nearly unrecognizable.
Yet beneath the decay lingered a faint trace of unyielding pride....pride befitting the name "Jie."
Ye Chen pressed his left hand upon the elder's shoulder.
