The stone slabs lifted from the ground shattered instantly upon impact with Kiba. But thanks to the brief delay caused by the stones, Ganji had enough time to react. By the moment Kiba crashed through the rubble, Ganji had already dodged aside.
"You're quick on your feet!"
Kiba halted and remarked, "Also, this Mud Clone is something new to me. Using sticky soil to form a clone—really clever for trapping someone."
"So you figured out from the beginning that I was the real body?!" Ganji looked at Kiba with confusion and asked, "How exactly did you tell something was off?!"
"Your scent gave you away!"
Kiba rubbed his nose tip and grinned, "The scent of a clone and the real body isn't the same. Even if chakra and appearance are identical, the scent of a living person can never be exactly like soil!"
"What? Scent?" Ganji appeared shocked—he'd never known before that scent could help distinguish the real person from a clone. "Is this some ability unique to the Inuzuka clan of Konoha?"
"Nope, it's my own personal ability!" Kiba shook his head and replied, "My situation's special. Only I can rely on scent to differentiate between clones and living beings."
Ganji fell silent, unsure how to respond. Soon after, however, he regained his composure and took up an offensive stance. "Then, I'll go all out from now on!"
"Alright then, I guess I'll have to get serious too!"
Kiba grinned with a lazy shrug, his relaxed expression making Ganji frown.
"Don't underestimate me!"
Ganji huffed in slight irritation before dashing toward Kiba like a gust of wind. His hands were now coated with a molten-like substance.
"This is Chakra from Lava Release?"
Kiba sidestepped swiftly, glancing afterward at the hem of his clothes. During the dodge, the edge had accidentally brushed against Ganji's fist—and within an instant, it burned into ashes from the heat. This showed just how high Ganji's hand temperature really was.
"Just a warning—my palms blaze like molten furnaces. Even stone melts on contact," Ganji warned as his hands radiated even more intense heat.
"Well then, I'll just make sure not to let you touch me!"
Kiba grinned widely. His already slit-like pupils narrowed sharply, like those of a predatory beast. His hair began to grow longer, flowing down his back like strands of tough wire. Pointed ears pierced through his hair, and four sharp fangs formed inside his mouth. His fingernails became claw-like talons, and his back arched forward like a predator ready to strike.
"Thankfully, Kiba's werewolf transformation isn't a real transformation into a wolf, but rather this form resembling Inuyasha," Sakura muttered softly. If Kiba's werewolf transformation actually turned him into a half-human, half-wolf creature, the Inuzuka clan would likely lose their minds.
The Inuzuka clan was certainly a family that fought side by side with Ninja Hounds, but this didn't mean they could accept their clansmen becoming half-human, half-wolf creatures. Fortunately, Kiba's werewolf transformation only occurred when he wanted it to, and his appearance closely resembled Inuyasha rather than the monstrous wolf-headed, human-bodied figures from Western mythology.
"This is... one of the Inuzuka clan's hidden techniques? I thought the Inuzuka were supposed to be a clan that fought alongside Ninja Hounds—why has he been fighting alone the whole time?"
Ganji gave Akamaru a puzzled look. The dog was dozing quietly in the corner. Without a Ninja Hound's support, could he still be considered a proper member of the Inuzuka clan?
"Next, watch out—the werewolf's hunt begins."
Kiba grinned, his entire body suddenly exuding a wild, untamed aura. The predatory gaze he fixed on Ganji made the latter instinctively take an involuntary step backward.
Chapter 232: Werewolves and Tengu [Part Three]
"What incredible speed!"
Ganji barely saw a blur before feeling an intense pain shoot through his arm as blood spurted from deep scratches.
"I told you to be careful. Now it's hunting time."
Kiba's figure appeared like a ghost behind Ganji. His right hand slashed downward, nails tearing through the fabric on Ganji's back and leaving several deep gashes. Blood immediately began seeping from the wounds.
"Damn it!"
Ganji swung a punch behind him but hit only empty air. Though Kiba wasn't as fast as Lee, he was still far too quick for Ganji to keep up with. Moreover, whether it was real or just an illusion, Ganji now felt the pain radiating from his arm and back as if penetrating deep into his bones. Compared to this sensation, the pain he'd previously experienced from injuries seemed utterly insignificant.
"I forgot to mention—once scratched by my claws, your wounds won't heal completely. They'll keep bleeding until they do."
Kiba's voice entered Ganji's ears, sending ice through his veins. If these wounds refused to close and continued bleeding, then without Kiba needing to do anything else, he might eventually bleed to death.
While speaking, Kiba kept attacking relentlessly. Within mere seconds, he had left several wounds across Ganji's body. Just as Kiba had said, although these cuts weren't particularly deep, they kept bleeding nonstop. While each wound produced little blood individually, collectively they soaked the clothing around the wounds in crimson.
"It seems I've got no choice but to take a risk."
Watching his own wounds multiply while unable to keep up with Kiba's speed or land a single hit, Ganji's expression darkened. He took a deep breath, and molten chakra began spreading rapidly from both his hands across his body.
[Lava Release Chakra Mode!]
Soon, Ganji's entire body became enveloped within the Lava Release chakra. It looked as though he had donned armor forged from magma, radiating intense heat. The temperature caused the stone floor beneath him to crack under its scorching pressure.
