Chapter 101 - The Knock in the Dark

When the villager couple finally regained consciousness, Vixen and Zavrion reassured them softly,

"Your daughter is asleep now… for the moment there won't be any problem."

Zavrion added with quiet firmness,

"I've forced the evil spirit out of her body once and for all. But please, take her to a doctor soon. After being possessed for so long… no one's mind stays completely stable."

Tears rolled down the couple's faces as they folded their hands and thanked Zavrion over and over again. By the time they left, it was already past 1 a.m. Everyone in the house had dinner and went to bed, hoping for a few hours of peace.

But peace never lasted long in Zemura…

The very next day, another villager rushed in, almost collapsing at Kin's feet, begging for help. His wife had gone missing—nowhere to be found.

At that time, only Zavrion, Kin, and Kenny were at home. Vixen had gone to the city for some urgent work.

Zavrion didn't waste a moment. He ran with the frantic man toward his house but warned Kin and Kenny before leaving,

"Stay inside. No matter what, don't step out until I return."

The two nodded reluctantly.

Zavrion and the villager searched every corner of the village but found no trace of the missing woman. At last, their steps carried them deep into the dense jungle.

The man trembled, refusing to go further. But Zavrion's calm, confident eyes steadied him.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here."

Inside the jungle, their hearts froze—there she was. The missing wife, struggling helplessly as two black shadowy figures clamped their hands around her, draining her very life force.

The villager let out a blood-curdling scream before collapsing unconscious.

The shadows turned, sensing Zavrion's presence… but the moment they met his burning gaze, they dissolved into the air like smoke.

The woman dropped lifelessly to the ground. Zavrion knelt instantly, releasing his Enigma pheromone power. A faint light pulsed through her body and slowly, she breathed again. Then he returned to the man and revived him the same way.

Meanwhile, back at the house…

Kin suddenly saw Vixen standing outside, hand outstretched, calling gently, "Kin…"

Without thinking, Kin moved toward the door. But Kenny grabbed his wrist tightly.

"Father Kin, where are you going?"

"Vixen is calling me," Kin whispered. "Stay here, I'll bring him back."

Kenny shook his head, his voice trembling.

"No! Zavrion told us not to leave the house. And if Father Vixen was really here, wouldn't he just come inside? Why do you need to go out?"

Kin hesitated, torn.

Moments later, the heavy bang! bang! bang! of knocking echoed through the main door.

Kenny rushed to open it, thinking Vixen had arrived. But… there was no one. Only the cold wind howled through the night.

Shaking, Kenny shut the door. But when he turned around—his blood froze.

A black shadow had its long fingers wrapped around Kin's head and throat, pulling him up like a puppet. The shadow's voice slithered into the room, calling Kenny closer…

Kenny stumbled backward, his mind going blank. Somehow, his feet dragged him into a room. The entity threw him on the bed, crawling close—ready to claim him in the most horrifying way.

But it was blocked. Something resisted.

The shadow hissed angrily, lifting Kin's limp body higher into the air, draining his energy like a leech.

At that very moment, the door burst open—Zavrion stormed in.

His eyes widened in horror at the sight.

"Kin!! Kenny!!"

Without hesitation, he unleashed his Enigma pheromone. Kin dropped heavily to the floor, gasping. Zavrion splashed water over his face until he regained consciousness.

Then Zavrion rushed to Kenny's room—

Kenny lay sprawled on the bed, arms and legs spread stiff, mouth open, staring blankly at the ceiling. His clothes were disheveled, his body trembling. He had wet himself out of sheer terror.

Zavrion's heart shattered.

"Kenny!!" he screamed, rushing to his side.

Kenny didn't respond until Zavrion wrapped him tightly in his arms and released his protective pheromone. Slowly, Kenny's body unlocked, his senses returned—and he broke down, clinging to Zavrion, sobbing uncontrollably.

Shame washed over him, and he tried to hide his face.

But Zavrion said nothing. He simply carried Kenny in his arms like a child, took him into the bathroom, gently changed his clothes with his own hands, replaced the soiled sheets, and then sat him down again.

Kenny still refused to let go of him, clutching onto Zavrion desperately as if he'd vanish the moment he loosened his grip…
