MHGA Chapter 148. Shah Dalamadur, Breached!

The colossal force of the Binders made Shah Dalamadur's body jolt; the tremendous tugging power made Tanjiro Kamado feel as if the ballista platform beneath his feet was about to be ripped right out of the ground.

But after seeing Tanjiro's first shot, and following the sequence Marcille had calculated beforehand, one Binder after another was fired in order.

Dozens of Binders with immense pulling force embedded into the immense body of Shah Dalamadur all at once.

"Roar!"

The massive jaws that were about to crunch Kairo Retsu and Joseph together were suddenly yanked off course. At the same time, according to the differing numbers of Binders striking from different positions, the entire body was drawn in the anticipated direction.

"That's it!"

Tanjiro bellowed: "Pull!!!!"

The Binder chains tightened in an instant.

Under the tremendous force dragging at it, Shah Dalamadur's body began to topple toward the predetermined point.

On the main ballistae providing the greatest pull, the crews, after engaging the winches, quickly evacuated, leaving the machines to haul Shah Dalamadur at full force on their own.

The sheer power of the Binders dragged even this two-thousand-two-hundred-meter monster off balance; it lost its stability, its upper body slamming down in the direction Marcille had calculated.

From the moment these installations began to be set up, Marcille had been calculating what kind of traction could yank Shah Dalamadur to the designated spot—

Only then could the Dragonator unleash its maximum power...

Shah Dalamadur's vast body, like a collapsing mountain, came crashing straight down in that direction.

Caught off guard by this unexpected assault, Shah Dalamadur lost the strength to resist and smashed down onto a massive clearing that had long since been prepared.

"You humans…"

The demon, somewhat vexed, was just about to force Shah Dalamadur to rear up and tear free of those Binders.

But right then, the adventurers and soldiers who had been standing by put their shoulders together and heaved the Dragonators into their assigned positions.

Only a short distance remained between them and Shah Dalamadur's body.

Quite a few people could feel the terrifying presence and might of this mountain-like monster.

But thinking of what they had to do next, and seeing the faces of those beside them, they conjured courage out of nowhere, shouting in unison as they braced the Dragonators' muzzles against Shah Dalamadur's flesh.

"Fire!!!!!!!"

Familiar crows assigned to relay orders squawked the command within every Dragonator team.

The adventurers pushing the Dragonators activated them almost simultaneously.

Already primed, the Dragonators burst from their barrels; in an instant they shredded Shah Dalamadur's hard scales, their whirling barbs like drill heads, continuously mangling the elder dragon's flesh.

At intervals all along the length of the prone Shah Dalamadur, its body suffered strikes like these.

Each Dragonator, with a gargantuan spearhead tens of meters long, was savaging Shah Dalamadur's body.

It will work. We can do this.

Even they could play a role in a battle like this!

Seeing the Dragonators bite deep, the adventurers and soldiers felt with their whole beings that they now stood within a momentous history that would be told for a thousand years—like the heroes of myth, they were now subjugating an unimaginable monster.

"Hold it there!"

Eyes reddened, the adventurers and soldiers jammed the Dragonators hard against Shah Dalamadur's body.

The massed Dragonators inflicted grievous wounds on Shah Dalamadur, and the demon's inner irritation surged to a peak.

He hadn't expected that the ones causing him so much trouble now would be the very humans of this world he had never even deigned to notice.

"Mithrun! Take me near the serpent's head! Drop me right on top of it!"

Kazuma Satou shouted at Mithrun.

Mithrun immediately chained teleports with Kazuma, sending him to the vicinity of Shah Dalamadur's head.

"Lord Kazuma's second Explosion Magic!"

Kazuma shook free of Mithrun and leaped straight toward Shah Dalamadur's head: "Go, now!"

Mithrun's eyes widened, but he realized what Kazuma meant to do and teleported away at once.

In the next instant, Kazuma, spell at the ready, jumped into Shah Dalamadur's still-struggling maw: "Explosion Magic is art!!!!!!"

A heartbeat later, the second Explosion Magic detonated inside Shah Dalamadur's oral cavity.

The tremendous blast gouged a great pit near Shah Dalamadur's skull and stopped it from using its head to strike those operating the Dragonators.

And now the die seemed cast.

The demon had never imagined he would be driven to this in so little time.

While his attention had been fixed entirely on those hunters, these humans had arranged so many devices and dealt catastrophic damage to the Shah Dalamadur he controlled.

Could Shah Dalamadur keep fighting?

The demon ran a quick check of Shah Dalamadur's current state.

Dire.

So dire the demon felt a headache coming on.

Its back had been completely wrecked by Joseph.

Its vitals had been twice pierced through in succession by Kairo Retsu and his Kinsect.

All across its body, the Dragonators had inflicted massive wounds.

Its head had been blasted to a ragged ruin by Kazuma's Explosion Magic.

The only reason Shah Dalamadur had not yet died was because the demon was ceaselessly feeding it magic power.

The possibility of escaping this arena had shrunk by a great deal.

"You hunters!!"

At last the demon's anger boiled over entirely.

"You think that means you've won!"

Within the dragon's roar was the demon's bellow: "So what if I can't reach the outside world! Do you think you can still leave here alive!"

"So what if I can't bring you into my dimension!"

The demon at last gave up all pretense of patience: "I'll eat every last one of you here! And then I'll keep waiting!"

"Sooner or later! Sooner or later someone will enter the Dungeon! And become the Dungeon Master again!"

"I will leave this barrier in the end! I'll go to the outside world and fulfill my wish!"

The demon howled.

And then, separating from Shah Dalamadur with which it had been fused, the demon reverted to the form of the Winged Lion.

It would breed more monsters from within the Dungeon and have them hunt down every human trapped in this barrier.

It would devour the desires of everyone here cleanly and stop this entanglement.

"Hunters!"

The Winged Lion glared at the adventurers with burning fury, and among them it spotted Laios: "Laios!!!!!!!!!!!!"
