MHGA Chapter 147 – Binding Shots: Full Volley!
Joseph didn't even notice the change happening to his blades.
Right now, his full attention was locked on destroying the Shah Dalamadur's back. He had already burned through nearly all of his stamina—running on pure willpower alone.
And inside the Shah Dalamadur's body, Kairo Retsu's path of destruction was just as excruciating.
Even though the force of his Vault Thrust didn't let up and had pierced straight through the monster's body, the suffocating pressure still made it hard for Kairo to breathe.
The damage dealt by the Insect Glaive was followed by a secondary internal tear from the Kinsect.
The trajectory of the Vault Thrust guided the Kinsect's follow-up attack along the same line. Together, Kairo and his Kinsect penetrated through over a thousand meters of the Shah Dalamadur's body—bursting out through its abdomen.
Massive volumes of blood surged from the wounds—turning the beast's ruptured flesh into a gushing fountain.
Chunks of viscera erupted alongside it.
"It's not enough!!"
But even a wound like that wasn't enough to stop the Shah Dalamadur—under the demon's relentless control, it endured the grievous damage and turned to crush Kairo's body along with the ground beneath him.
No more chances could be given to these Hunters.
The demon also locked onto Joseph's trajectory. It twisted the Shah Dalamadur's tail toward Kairo's position—just as Joseph was about to land.
Once Joseph dropped, the monster would strike, crushing both him and Kairo in one fell bite.
And deep in its throat, heat had already begun to gather.
The demon would not give Kairo another shot. It would incinerate him to ash.
But what the demon didn't notice… was that those people it had deemed irrelevant… had finished preparing the entire setup.
..............................
Roughly five minutes earlier—
"Marcille! Haven't you finished calculating yet?!"
A remarkable scene unfolded across a vast open plain.
Marcille was lying on the ground, furiously scribbling equations with her staff in the dirt.
"…Finished!"
Her long ears quivered in excitement as she completed her calculations. "Adjust the positions of the equipment exactly as I instructed! Can we do that?"
"Meow! Leave it to us, nya!" Several Felynes near Marcille raised their paws and shouted cheerfully. "Since you're a friend of the Hunter-lords, we'll follow your lead!"
"Then—!"
Marcille quickly relayed all her calculated coordinates, and once the Felynes had them, they vanished from sight with startling speed.
"Marcille! Are you sure your numbers are reliable?!" Chilchack asked nervously.
"I'm one of the rare geniuses from the Academy!" Marcille declared, clutching her staff. "In times like this, everyone should do whatever they can to contribute!"
"Marcille."
Laios was now standing at her side. "I believe in you."
"Laios… Are you going to do that next?" Marcille's voice shook with worry. "What are you planning?"
"...The Winged Lion isn't a monster you can beat with brute force alone."
Laios shook his head. "There's no turning back now. So… we've got to go all in."
"Marcille!"
He grabbed her arm and spoke firmly, "I want you to get Falin out—before the demon is defeated."
"You're still talking about Falin right now? I thought you'd forgotten all about her," Chilchack grumbled nearby.
"Chilchack, thank you for sticking with us to this point. I'm counting on you to look after Falin from now on." Laios turned to Senshi. "Senshi, once Falin's back, I want her to taste your cooking again."
"And Izutsumi… If possible, I hope you'll be able to live more freely…"
"Laios! Why are you suddenly saying this kind of stuff!" Marcille panicked—this was the kind of line a character said right before dying.
"Hey! If you're not coming back alive, we're not taking care of Falin for you!" Chilchack snapped.
"Same here," Senshi nodded solemnly. "The one Falin needs most… is you."
"…Huh?"
Laios blinked. "What do you mean, 'not coming back alive'? I'm talking about what happens after we save Falin."
His face paled. "Wait… Are you guys planning to stop adventuring with me after this?!"
"Don't say things that make people misunderstand you!!!!"
Marcille, thoroughly enraged, bonked him over the head with her staff, knocking him flat.
The others swarmed around him and delivered a hearty beatdown.
"OW—! Enough already!"
After some flailing, Laios finally struggled free. "I will make this work!"
"..."
Kabru, watching this chaotic group dynamic, had his doubts.
Even their own teammates wanted to smack Laios. Could Kabru and the entire world really trust this guy with their fate…?
But as he was thinking that, Laios suddenly walked up to him, placed a firm hand on his shoulder, and said, "Kabru! I'm going to deal with the demon. I won't let the few of us become criminals who doomed this world!"
"Laios…"
Kabru almost felt touched—until something struck him as off.
…Wasn't the whole reason he was branded a criminal because of this very guy?!
God, he was infuriating!
Kabru cursed silently—but in the end, he still chose to trust Laios.
And right then, through the gathering hall voice chat, Kairo Retsu's scream rang out:
"Laios! Tanjiro! Save me and Joseph!!"
"We're about to be eaten by the Shah Dalamadur! Fire the gear already!!"
"!"
Laios's eyes snapped wide. "It's time to fire the equipment!!"
"Marcille! Time to test your math!!"
On the other side, Tanjiro led a group of adventurers and yanked the first trigger mechanism.
"Binding Shot… FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!"
Barbed and reinforced, the massive Binding Shots launched from enormous Ballistae.
And before the demon even realized what was happening—they slammed into the Shah Dalamadur's colossal body.
