MHGA Chapter 150 – Demon King Laios!!!
"Alright."
Kairo Retsu didn't hesitate.
"Then it's settled!"
"Rendezvous at the Dungeon entrance!"
"Yeah!"
After that decisive moment, the assembly voice chat quieted once again.
Laios scratched his head.
The Hunters… they really trusted his plan like that?
This feeling—of being completely trusted by others—was honestly a bit pleasant.
As Laios was reflecting on that, Flaméla returned, dragging the unconscious thistle with her.
"I don't know what you're planning," she said as she dumped thistle at Laios' feet.
"But it's all up to you now, you bastard. The fate of the world is in your hands."
"If you fail, I swear I'll personally kill the one who dragged us into this mess!" she shouted, swinging a fist threateningly.
"Got it."
Laios hoisted thistle up.
"Then, I'm off."
—
Not long after, the people on-site had already learned of the situation with Laios and the demon.
They knew:
If Laios didn't go into the Dungeon, everyone here would be devoured by the demon.
Their lives now rested entirely on whether Laios and the others could defeat it.
At the Dungeon entrance, the Hunters had once again gathered.
Laios stood before the great gaping hole that had once been the sealed Dungeon gate and couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion.
Just a few days ago, his sister had been eaten by a Flame Dragon, and he'd been struggling just to enter this Dungeon to save her.
Now, after that long adventure, he stood here again—this time before a crowd.
A vast number of people had gathered nearby, watching the Hunters clad in all kinds of strange armor.
Beside them were four beasts, each bearing an awe-inspiring presence:
Hellblade Glavenus, Soulseer Mizutsune, Silverwind Nargacuga, Thunderlord Zinogre.
Standing at the head of them all—was Laios, clad in armor so grim and fearsome he looked like a Demon King.
Now, everyone's hopes and lives were pinned on this man… this man who looked more like a Demon King than a hero.
"Laios, not gonna say a few words?" Kairo Retsu raised a brow at him.
"We're literally heading off to save the world, y'know," Naofumi Iwatani added.
"Looks like you're a full-blown hero now."
"What kind of hero dresses like THAT?"
Kazuma snarked, "Not a single thing about you screams 'hero'!"
"You're the last person qualified to say that…" Jotaro Kujo shot Kazuma a sideways glance.
Tanjiro clenched a fist.
"Mr. Laios! You can do this!"
Facing the dark, gaping Dungeon, Laios took a deep breath and turned to face the anxious adventurers.
"Everyone!"
The moment his voice rang out, the whole crowd fell silent.
"We're about to confront a demon that wants to devour everyone here."
Laios continued:
"I want to save my sister. I want to save my companions."
"From the very start, it was all to rescue my sister. That's why I've come this far…"
"We'll succeed. But if—when—we defeat the demon, I'd like to ask everyone here for a favor."
He lifted his head, scanning the people around him.
"When we return—when we leave here safely, and this land is saved—I want all of us to share a meal together!"
"Ah…"
Kairo muttered to the other Hunters,
"In a way… Laios is just as obsessed with eating as the demon…"
"Alright then!"
Laios raised his arm and marched toward the Dungeon.
"We will save the world!!"
Some of the people at the front tried to call out—but looking at Laios' figure, they couldn't bring themselves to say things like "hero" or "savior."
Instead, one person in the crowd shouted something else:
"Demon King Laios!"
"Demon King Laios!!!!"
The people around the Dungeon took up the chant in unison.
As their voices echoed around him, Laios finally stepped into the Dungeon.
Following him closely were Kairo and the others.
Watching his back, Kazuma muttered under his breath,
"Laios is totally enjoying this. Bet he's grinning under that helmet right now…"
"No doubt…"
"Alright!"
Kairo cut them off.
"No time to slowly clear this Dungeon!"
"Bring thistle—Mount up!"
At his command, several Hunters climbed atop the Four Heavenly Kings.
Kairo and Laios boarded the broad back of Silverwind Nargacuga, bringing thistle with them.
"First things first—let's wake him up."
Kairo said as he began feeding thistle a Nulberry.
Kairo and Naofumi each held one of thistle's arms to keep him down.
As thistle slowly regained consciousness, the first thing he saw…
…was Laios in his terrifying Demon King armor grabbing both his legs.
"WAAAAHHHHHH!!!"
thistle shrieked, kicking violently at Laios in terror.
"Wait! thistle! thistle!!"
Laios held tight to his legs.
"We just need to talk!"
"You're… you're the ones who invaded the Dungeon!!"
thistle finally remembered who they were.
He tried to resist—but something felt… off.
His connection to the Dungeon's power—gone.
He… was no longer the Dungeon Master.
And more importantly, his mind—felt sharper than it had in centuries.
His past deeds came flooding back into his consciousness, one by one.
His twisted desires as the Dungeon Master…
The obsession that had grown under the Winged Lion's influence over millennia…
Under the effect of the Nulberry that cleansed abnormal status, it all finally returned to clarity.
He realized what he had done.
In an instant, thistle was consumed by overwhelming anguish.
"Now," Laios said, grabbing his shoulders,
"Will you hear us out?"
"We need your help to save the Golden Country."
"The king is gone—but the people of the Golden Country… still need saving."
"This is something only you can do. You know more about this Dungeon and the Golden Country than anyone."
"Well?" Kairo said, looking thistle in the eye.
"Lend us your strength—for your king's sake."
"Give us your desire for redemption—let us use it!"
