MHGA Chapter 151 – Those Who Still Want to Eat
"Help meeeee!!!!!"
Deep in the Dungeon, the Winged Lion had constructed a massive prison using the very structure of the labyrinth itself, imprisoning Marushill and the others it had captured.
Not only that, but monsters were also dragging in the residents of the Golden Country, transporting them toward this prison and tossing them into the same cell.
"Help!!!" Chilchak cried out, but no one would hear such pleas in the depths of the Dungeon.
"Stop yelling," Izutsumi muttered, slumped against the cell wall. "That Winged Lion only locked us up to lure Laios in. We just have to wait."
"That's exactly why I'm worried!" Chilchak let out a shrill screech of panic. "Our lives depend entirely on Laios! We're doomed for sure!"
"And why was I even brought here?!" Kabru clutched the bars, finally snapping. "I'm not even part of Laios' team!"
"Uh…"
Shuro and Namari exchanged glances.
Honestly, they hadn't expected to be dragged into this either. Although… they had been part of Laios' party once upon a time…
"Laios will come save us!" Marushill declared. But then her confidence wavered. "He should be able to… probably…"
Just then, a massive chunk of ice was flung into the cell by a stone-formed hand—right into the middle of the group.
Inside the ice was none other than Falin.
"Falin?!!!"
Marushill rushed over in panic, checking her over. Confirming that Falin wasn't injured, she let out a breath of relief.
"Falin…" Shuro looked at her in her monstrous state, his expression complicated.
"Laios… If you had just saved this woman and left the Dungeon…"
The Winged Lion appeared before the cell, gazing at the captives. "Things wouldn't have come to this."
"You humans… are truly fragile creatures…" the Winged Lion said, addressing the prisoners. "So why—why must there be those who interfere with me bringing you eternal happiness?"
"Winged Lion, you… you…" Marushill stammered in terror.
The Winged Lion stared into the cell. "Laios… and those Hunters…"
"They keep ruining everything."
"If they keep getting in my way, I'll have no choice but to devour all of you… and then wait again."
The Winged Lion spoke coldly. "No matter how long it takes, I will bring about an eternal banquet of happiness for you humans."
Its words and expression sent chills down everyone's spines.
But then—
"I made some shaved ice. Anyone want some?" Senshi suddenly spoke up.
"Now?!"
Kabru shouted, immediately covering his mouth.
The Winged Lion turned its gaze past the group and spotted Senshi behind them, calmly stirring syrup in his mithril pot.
Senshi had scraped ice from the massive block covering Falin and was preparing a bowl topped with syrup and condensed milk.
"Dwarf…"
The Winged Lion narrowed its eyes. "Why are you making shaved ice now?"
Everyone around tensed in panic.
But Senshi replied naturally, "Because everyone is anxious. I believe eating something cold and sweet will help calm our minds."
"Senshi!" Marushill called out, panicking that the Winged Lion might attack him.
Yet the Winged Lion stared and said, "Let me try some."
"Would you like fruit on it?" Senshi offered the bowl. "I have some dryads' dried fruits in my pack…"
"No need."
The Winged Lion lifted the bowl in its claw, which transformed into a hand-like form. It scooped a spoonful of ice, then slowly licked it off with its tongue.
"You humans… are such gluttonous creatures."
The sweet taste touched its tongue, but its hunger remained unchanged. "Even now, you still want to eat."
"It's precisely because of times like these that people feel unsettled," Senshi replied earnestly, as if teaching a life lesson. "That's when food becomes most important. May I continue?"
"..."
The Winged Lion silently dumped the rest of the bowl into its mouth.
"…What ingredients do you need? I'll provide them."
"Jam, fruit, candy—anything like that," Senshi responded. "But if you eat ice too fast, you'll get a headache."
"..."
The Winged Lion snapped its fingers.
In the next instant, a massive pile of supplies appeared in the cell.
In addition to fruits and other ingredients, there were ice blocks, bowls, and spoons.
"Don't use the ice covering Laios' sister," the Winged Lion instructed. Two Yeti-like monsters appeared beside Falin to replace her ice covering. "Let everyone here try your shaved ice."
"Until Laios arrives, this will be the last thing you get to eat."
With a restless growl of hunger, the Winged Lion left.
"Senshi!" Marushill grabbed him by the shoulders. "You scared me half to death!"
"I thought we were done for!" Chilchak gasped.
"Hmm… So, what flavor do you all want?" Senshi asked, turning to the nearby Golden Country residents. "You too—would you like something sweet?"
"Eh?!"
One villager blinked in confusion, then scratched his head. "Then… orange flavor, I guess…"
"Strawberry for me!"
"Mango!"
"Apple!"
Though they weren't even sure they could taste it, the villagers still called out the flavors they wanted.
"Leave it to me!"
Senshi began shaving ice with enthusiasm.
"…How did things end up like this?" Kabru asked, baffled.
Why are we eating shaved ice now…?
"Give it up," Shuro patted Kabru's shoulder. "I gave up trying to make sense of any of this a long time ago."
"Oh, I want milk flavor."
