CHAPTER NINE: THE DEAL
"Ahh!" Nat screamed. "What are you doing here??" She asked while holding onto the towel around her chest tightly.
"I thought you'd still be in the bathroom since you were taking forever to finish." Christopher said.
"You can't blame me when I didn't know they were two different bathrooms. I mean, who has two bathrooms in one bedroom. I nearly wanted to change my mind and not shower." Nat said.
"But you still did." Christopher said as he looked at Nat from head to toe and then back to her face, gazing intensely at her.
"That was because....." Nat was saying, until she noticed the way Christopher stared at her.
"Could you please excuse me?? I need to change." She then said.
Christopher just looked her in the eyes for a few seconds before he walked out without saying anything.
"Rude." Nat said as she began changing.
After she finished, she stepped out of the room and headed down stairs.
"Oh my God! Who decided to fill my nose this evening." She said as she perceived a strong aroma when she reached the living room. Then she headed towards the kitchen. She then saw Chrisler leaning on the counter, while watching Stephanie cook.
"Weldon Chrisler. Weldon. Just clap for yourself." Nat said as soon as she entered the kitchen.
"Nat. Oh my God! Your still here?? I totally forgot that you were here. And you've changed your clothes. Isn't that Christopher's sweater and his pants??" Chrisler asked.
"I didn't come in here for you to question me. How could you forget that I was here?? Was your senses blocked the moment she (Stephanie) stepped in?? Chrisler, I seriously can't believe that a woman would invade your senses like this. What happened to"I've changed"?? Was that also a lie??" Nat said almost raising her voice.
Before Chrisler would answer, Stephanie dragged him aside and said to Nat.
"Who do you think you are to barge in here and shout at my man?? Even I can't try that and you had the audacity to do so?? Just get out of here if you still want your fingers to be complete."
Nat scoffed and then looked at Chrisler and said "are you hearing what she is saying?? She is here insulting me and you can't even say anything." Nat said and paused a bit. "I think it's time for me to leave." She said and left the kitchen.
"Nat?" Chrisler called after her but there was no response.
"Can you see what you have caused??" Chrisler said to Stephanie.
"How is that my fault??" Stephanie asked.
"Stephanie, I hope you know that we aren't dating?? We're just having fun and that's all there is to it."
"I know that Chrisler. You don't have to remind me of the deal I made with you." Stephanie said.
"Then you must also know that you don't have the right to meddle in my business, especially talk to my friends the way you just did."
"I know that Chrisler. Don't get worked up because of a silly mistake I made. I just wanted to defend you." Stephanie said.
"Defend me?? Why?? She's my friend for crying out loud . Why would you need to defend me??" Chrisler said.
"It's not that Chrisler, I just wanted to...." Stephanie was saying when Chrisler cut her short.
"You know, I'm starting to think this deal was a bad idea. And it has to end here. I'm sorry Steph." Chrisler said looking apologetic.
"You can't be serious Chrisler. Just because I said a few words to that useless girl, you want to....." Stephanie was saying before Chrisler cut her off.
"Don't you ever, ever call my friend useless." Chrisler said raising his voice a bit.
"You know what? Just leave. Or better still, if your not ready, I'll leave instead." Chrisler said as he walked out leaving Stephanie silently weeping.
