Chapter 11 - Mind Games=Survival

The fear drove Allan insane Cassodie to his perspective cared not as if the existential possibility of death did not scare her in fact she was cheerful too cheerful Allan often avoided her. Still during rare moments paths intertwined and he witnessed sides of her he never dreamt existed.

"Mr Toaster do you have a wheat allergy?" She asked a toaster once

"Out of everything I've come to love nothing beats loneliness it's peaceful right Allan." She asked him he never answered mostly because he didn't know what to make of such a bizarre question.

All that didn't erase the fact that he had no chance in hell of beating a guy who could theoretically destroy a city block on a whim, the power seemed overwhelming still what could he do hide? Where if Melody could find them anywhere they were why wouldn't the sixth circle guy not do the same.

Everything inside him told him that he could do nothing in the situation he was in maybe he should take everything lying down instead of dying fighting a lost battle.

Sitting in that study thinking and staring at nothing he suddenly felt a familiar touch on his face it wasn't Cassodie not Melody but still not unfamiliar it was Esmeralda.

"What are you doing?"

"Grabbing your attention."

"What for?"

"To thank you for the dish."

"Shouldn't your sister be thanking me istead since she is the only benefactor."

"Well..."

She told him everything that happened he listened with a childish kind of awe mostly out of regret if that dish could even revive people why didn't he take it he now compouned his negativity to levels he almost gritted his teeth.

"Are you here to brag or something?"

"No something else entirely. I do not know if this is right leave alone permited."

She said bending a knee and holding placing a hand to her heart and another on his left hand.

"I swear for all my days that I will be loyal and use my power for your benefit."

He waited for her to finish gestured her to stand up and sit down looked her dead in her blue eyes grasping at her hands with enough force to break any normal person's bones.

"I don't believe you I just hope if I survive this ordeal you won't end up six feet because of me."

Those words meant nothing they both knew it was his form of compassion he knew his time was limited he didn't want his sacrifice as he thought of it to go in vain.

Esmeralda left she felt something for Allan pity or something else she did not know she had to make a new life for her dead sister.

Something about something made Allan stand up looking for that psychopath who outmatched him in instability something about teamwork drove him there.

"If it worked before It should work now."

That kind of logic only works when you ignore the massive gaps in power levels.

Allan was spooked this was the first time he heard the system again for a week or so maybe longer stress distorted his perception of time.

"What do you propose we do die?"

No find the other one and head to a practice space.

Cassodie was once again curiously observing the plants Allan in fact nobody who observed ever understood why she had this weird infatuation with the garden.

"Finally you came I thought I was the only one scared as hell."

"You expected me to come."

"Ever since that day every intense emotion you feel I feel so I was worried I assumed you were too."

"Uncanny."

"Have any plans."

"The system said I find you."

"Strange told me the same."

They went to a massive field behind the manor beautifully maintained hedges tall enough to be effective fences and grass unnecessarily uniform, they were clutching onto hope, too volatile.

Now I have to clarify something not all talents are equal for example Jarvis the second order being had transmutation on the second level, his second level was weaker than his first control. Control allowed him to as you know controlled anything upto the maximum destructive zone his circle held eg all types of kineses. Transmutation allows the cotrolled objects to change form and being in theory he could have been able to turn iron to gold or anything to energy.

"How is that weaker then the first level."

Mastery once you unlock the second or any subsequent level everything affected has to follow the routes from first to last his transmutation was heavily flawed where he focused too much on change of form which complicated his ability to control like destructive interferance you get it so the second layer made him more inneficient.

"So you are saying that he would be a tough nut if we met his fully realised form."

No chance for winning but Jarvis' talent is still a bit inferior to Allan and had the unique characteristic of imperfection. Allan's first layer is perfection of all is perceived imperfect hence he inherited imperfect control and Imperfect transmutation raising it to perfected state.

"So that was why he could do that rain thing.?"

Yes now it doen't only work at a time but the perfected version is kept in a special space called the law library in the system. The problem is that each law cannot be advanced further once strored hence the particulate manipulation talent Jarvis had will only be at the second stage.

"That'all my first layer does trash."

"Yeah it is trash considering he only has one talent at the second stage."

You are not getting the point Allan can copy any talent upto that point the original user reached as long as it is considered imperfect at any stage.

"So Melody's technique is perfected?"

Yes to every extent of the 4th stage

"Why didn't he copy my talent."

He did the stregth layer was applied when he forcefully injected energy into the controlled particles in the process of transmutation.

"Why Is he OP?"

Well your strength is also OP it's just that you have been ineffective at using it. You use it to lend your body strength instead of completely dominating the surrounding through pure strength. You'll get it after you practice for a while.

Allan didn't think that would help the gap in power seemed to great and to even perform that rain thing it needed him to give almost three quarters of all he had still what if Jarvis dodged what would he have done nothing he was still helpless in front of a barrier of power.

The main aim of training is not to win but to earn leverage. This council thing is obviously short of labor and assuming how Jarvis was all calm means there aren't many strong mages what if you could show the higher ups a potential that could not be let die. The main reason for you to fight would quickly shift from winning to proof.

"Wow I have never thought of that angle before."

"Maybe because all you do is stare at plants."

"Why haven't you ever popped up before why now?"

You never reached a point you require guidance when you need me I'll be there till maybe there will be a day where my use will be outgrown.
