Chapter 340 - Chapter 340: Growing Stronger in Sleep

After one night...

Kurenai Yuhi lay asleep in bed, exuding a quiet grace like a woman lost in springtime slumber. Anya had already woken up, pausing briefly to glance at the tousled bedding before leaning closer to her face. Gently brushing her cheek, he kissed away the tears lingering at the corner of her eyes, his heart heavy with guilt.

Feeling the warmth on her face, Kurenai slightly stirred and opened her eyes. They shimmered with shyness and wonder, as though she had been transported back to the moment they first met—his tenderness melting sweetly into her very soul.

"Did I tire you? Then sleep a while longer."

Anya, who had restrained himself for years, finally let go last night. It was no wonder Kurenai was completely drained.

Kurenai gave him a look mixed with affectionate reproach, her body utterly spent. Lazily, she nestled against his lap, shifting slightly to find a more comfortable position before slipping back into deep sleep.

Anya gazed at her with love, then turned his attention inward.

Vaguely, he could sense something unusual happening within his body—almost as if it were being nourished by something. His internal vitality was flourishing, and his Sage Chakra was shining even brighter than before.

As Anya activated his Sage Chakra, three faint beams of [Sage Art] energy began radiating from within his body. As increasing amounts of chakra gathered outside, the originally dim red-and-blue glow gradually brightened, rapidly expanding outward along with its growing strength. Around him, three mysterious clouds of light formed and began changing swiftly.

The transformation intensified—the three beams of light spinning twice as fast, their rotational binding force also strengthening, firmly illuminating Anya's new physical form.

Between them, radiant streams flowed continuously. Countless ribbons of Sage Chakra twisted and entwined like countless tendrils.

Each occupying a corner of the light, the Sage Arts from Mount Myoboku, Shikkotsu Forest, and Ryuchi Cave each revealed themselves. The first cloud of light immediately transformed into a golden flame that slashed out like a sharp blade, circling around Anya. Then, the second cloud responded equally fiercely—its pale blue glow exuding infinite vitality, filling the air with a faint fragrance before condensing into another blade under Anya's control.

From the last swirling mass came a sound resembling a dragon's roar, emitting a purple aura that expanded into a thin veil of light. Under Anya's influence, the three energies merged together once more. When this powerful energy first made contact, it instantly vaporized—turning into thick white mist—before gathering into a massive energy sphere in his hands.

Anya condensed these misty energies into flowing water-like streams, gathering and absorbing the energy into his body just as though drinking it in.

"This... is Kurenai's chakra," Anya marveled as he felt the power surging through his newly transformed body. "Wait—no, rather, this is Sage Chakra converted from Kurenai's chakra."

Why did this happen?

After some deep thinking, Anya vaguely understood part of the truth. Natural Energy was born collectively from nature itself—from all things existing within heaven and earth. And naturally, humans themselves were also part of that—naturally possessing a certain amount of Natural Energy within them. Only after cultivation would people transform this internal energy into chakra.

After merging with Kurenai, he had guided her chakra in an attempt to convert it into Sage Chakra. However, Kurenai's body couldn't absorb this Sage Chakra, which instead benefited him.

So it seemed that Kurenai's weakness wasn't just from being worn out, but also due to the partial absorption of her chakra by him.

Would this have any adverse effect on her? Anya placed his hand on Kurenai's abdomen and examined her condition internally before slightly relaxing his grip. Good, not much chakra was lost. With time, the drained chakra would slowly recover—no major impact on her health.

As for Anya, now infused with Kurenai's chakra, he gained a certain level of combat strength. He was no longer a weakling who had to run away the moment he faced Naruto.

Anya estimated that this amount of chakra was roughly equivalent in strength to that of a Chunin. Considering his current refined control over chakra, if used sparingly, defeating an average Jonin wouldn't be a problem. Now the question was whether this chakra supply was one-time or renewable. If it was disposable, did that mean he'd need to use Kurenai like a power bank?

Anya quickly banished that thought from his mind—it was too evil.

Kurenai slept through most of the day. When she finally woke up, it was already evening. Her reflexive glance beside the bed revealed nobody there.

Kurenai didn't even bother to dress properly, hastily got up, and pushed open the door.

A rich smell of cooking filled the air, immediately making her stomach rumble.

Seeing her, Anya smiled warmly. "Awake? You must be starving. Come on, let's eat."

The table in the Grand Hall was piled high with dishes, each one exuding an enticing fragrance. Vegetables, meat, and seafood were all present. The rich scent, carried along with the steam, seemed like an invisible hand tugging at one's sense of smell, making mouths water like they hadn't eaten in days.

Overjoyed at the scene before her, Kurenai felt tears welling up. Ever since her father's passing and Anya's departure, this house hadn't seen such a warm atmosphere. At times, she'd rather wander outside than return to the cold emptiness of her house. Only now did she truly feel that long-lost warmth of home again.

Kurenai swallowed and shyly murmured, "Why did you make so much food? I won't be able to finish it all."

"Hehe, I think you should get dressed first," Anya said with a mischievous grin as he stepped closer. "My self-control isn't very good right now."

"Ahh!" Kurenai cried out in embarrassment before quickly retreating back into her room.

When Kurenai reappeared, dressed properly in modest sleepwear, her figure looked even more alluring. Anya couldn't help but swallow nervously.

Mistaking his look as hunger, Kurenai quickly said, "You really don't have to wait for me. Go ahead and eat."

Anya dashed forward, wrapping his arms around her with a sudden tackle. Smirking playfully, he whispered, "I'll feed you."

"Ah." After a moment of surprise, Kurenai shyly gave a slight nod of her head. "Okay."

This meal ended with Kurenai Yuhi blushing in an awkwardly intimate atmosphere. Seeing that most of the dishes on the large table had gone into her own stomach, she couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed as she said, "I usually don't eat this much."

"This portion size could almost match Choji's! If I keep eating like this, I won't end up chubby, would I?"

Kurenai Yuhi touched her round belly and felt somewhat scared afterward.

Anya laughed out loud and said, "It's not you—it's me."

"Why is that?" Kurenai asked in confusion.

Anya told her about the physical changes in her body, including the additional chakra inside her.

Kurenai raised an eyebrow and asked, "So does that mean you can get stronger just by sleeping?"
