There was already cups waiting on the tables along with pitchers of water but in this case I just needed the cup. The professors watched me carefully as I tapped the cup and recited the transfiguration spell over and over after each attempt. At first the cup changed slowly and in small ways. But as I experimented with the spell I sped it up and got more precise with the changes. When time came for dinner to truly start and the other students were pouring into the great hall I could turn the pewter cup into a delicate fine china tea cup with no flaws.-
"Bloody hell! Alex mate, you look dreadful!" Terry said in shock as he sat across from me.
"We heard you'd gotten into some sort of magical accident and had been in the hospital wing this whole time but we didn't know it was so bad." Mike said as he sat next to Terry.
"This castle apparently has some dangerous secrets in it nobody knows about, I found one and paid for being careless around it." I said with a shrug.
"Does it hurt?" Mandy Brocklehurst, the little witch sorted to Ravenclaw this year, asked concerned after sitting next to Mike.
"It does but I'll be taking pain relieving potion for it so it won't interfere with my studies or classwork." I answered honestly.
"What about your eye?" Terry asked.
"It's not gone but may as well be. I'm only barely able to tell theres light hitting it when I open it. I'll replace it once I find a suitable option." I said frankly.
"Bloody hell mate, that's gotta be rough." Mike said and I shook my head.
"It's like closing one eye but permanently. Half my field of vision is gone but otherwise it doesn't really affect me too badly." I said honestly.
"Since you're here I take it that means you'll be joining us for classes from now on?" Terry asked changing the subject.
"I'm off for the rest of the week but starting next Monday yeah." I said with a nod.
"I'll let you look over my notes when we get back to the common room so you aren't too lost in class." Mike offered helpfully.
"I'd appreciate it. I studied while in the hospital wing but have no clue where you guys are in classes." I said gratefully.
Dinner started and platters of different foods appeared on the tables and all conversation was put aside. I myself ate several lamb chops, mutton steaks and a small mound of mashed potatoes. At some point those around me couldn't help but stare at me in shock as I downed an inhuman amount of food. I couldn't help it as with the one piece physique I needed as much food as I could eat to heal quickly and grow stronger. I had been living on potions that tasted dreadful for two weeks at this point and also couldn't help but indulge in the food that actually tasted delicious.-
"Did they starve you or something in the hospital wing mate?" Terry ended up asked after desert was served.
"Or something. I lived off of potions that made it so I didn't need to eat but the taste was something I would rather never deal with again." I said with a slight shudder.
"Aren't potions usually sweetened though?" Mandy asked with a confused look.
"Usually but Madam Pomphrey prefers her medicine to taste like it. Probably so you would be extra motivated not to have to drink any more." I said helplessly.
"It wasn't all bad though, you didn't have to deal with Professor Snape on Fridays at least." Mike said and I gave him a look that made him pause "No." he said in disbelief but I nodded to confirm that yes I did in fact have to deal with Snape still.
"Not even going to the hospital wing is enough to escape, we are truly doomed!" Terry said dramatically.
"He is a bit intense but I didn't think he was all that bad." I said honestly.
Terry snorted "A bit intense he says! That's like saying dragons are just fire breathing lizards!" he said shaking his head.
"Maybe he wasn't that bad since you were in the hospital wing but he's been a right menace for the rest of us. He doesn't even give points if we do well." Mike said seriously.
The meal ended after that and a few of the older Ravenclaws came to make sure I could get back to the common room alright which was nice. Once actually back in the common room Mike, Terry and Mandy all broke out their notes for me to borrow. I left them all stumped as it took me only about thirty minutes to read through all of them and memorize the contents.-
After that we all turned in for the day. It was strange going to sleep for the first time in over two weeks without a potion forcing the issue. It was also nice being able to fully release my observation haki without someone magically backhanding it. I woke up when the first rays of the sun shone through the window of my room on my face the next day. The first thing I did was head for the bathroom to get a quick bath since I was fairly certain I hadn't had one in over two weeks. -
With that done I dressed for the day and rebandaged my hands. It wasn't perfect like Madam Pomphrey's wrappings but I knew I'd need practice to get better and it was good enough. I chose to ignore the dull throbbing pain in my hands as I left the common room and headed for the great hall to eat breakfast. I was not the first person in the hall but I was one of the first ten. I asked for a plate of eggs, bacon and scones with gravy and it magically appeared before me piled high. Clearly the house elves noticed my large appetite, wonderfully helpful creatures those.
