Chapter 386 - Chapter 386

"Idiot?"

Colossus strode out and drove a straight punch at Saitama's face. The blow landed—Saitama merely tilted his head. Not even a mark.

"Impossible!" Colossus' expression shifted hard.

[Name]Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin

[Codename]Colossus

[Stats]Intelligence 3 (educated), Strength 6 (superhuman), Speed 3 (above human), Stamina 6 (superhuman), Energy Projection 1 (none), Fighting Skills 5 (master of a style)

[Special Abilities]

Steel Metamorphosis: Can convert all body tissue into organic steel. In this form he does not need to breathe; his body can withstand hellish ballistics and extreme temperature shifts.

Steel Defense: In "steel defense" state, he can resist 110 mm howitzer shells, but at ~9000 °C his body will still melt.

Tireless: While transformed he requires no food, breath, rest—stamina virtually limitless.

"Huh, so just a regular guy after all?"

Saitama gave him a glance, then looked back to Professor X. "So, how about my proposal? What do you think?"

Professor X's face darkened. He studied the man before him. "Who exactly are you? I saw you more than forty years ago. Why haven't you aged?"

That was his biggest doubt. He'd assumed that since Saitama hadn't appeared anywhere in the world for over forty years, the man had likely died—or perhaps he wasn't of this world and had simply gone back to his own.

Yet here Saitama was again, wearing that same empty, unconcerned look about everything.

"Uh…" Saitama scratched his chin. "What are you talking about—have we met?"

Professor X froze. True—back then only he had seen Saitama; Saitama hadn't seen him.

He felt like he'd punched a pillow. His eyes slid to Logan. That guy had been with Saitama years ago. After capturing Logan, Charles had tried everything to pry out information about Saitama, only to learn Logan had sealed those memories away by some means. Out of spite, he'd twisted Logan's personality, wiped and reformatted everything, turned him into a loyal hound—until Magneto captured him during a raid on the Brotherhood and snapped him back to himself. But the memories never returned.

In short, there was no way to get the truth from Logan now.

Professor X's face went cold. "Whatever you are, whether you're that man from that day or not—for the sake of the world's peace, you must die here."

"Oh! Such strong resolve. You're just like the protagonists in the games King plays!" Saitama brightened. "If you met King, you two would totally be friends."

Professor X's mouth twitched. This version of him was different from the movies: not an elderly bald man who looked like a mastermind, but a vigorous man in his prime, full head of hair, radiating health and upbeat energy.

"You—go to hell!"

Professor X snapped a side kick at Saitama's neck. As if that would land. Saitama casually lifted a hand and blocked.

Boom!

Saitama didn't even sway.

Seeing this, Colossus charged in, threading both arms up under Saitama's armpits and locking him in place. "Scott! Do it!"

Scott?

Saitama looked toward the man in sunglasses.

[Name]Scott Summers

[Codename]Cyclops

[Stats]Intelligence 5 (genius), Strength 4 (superhuman), Speed 4 (supersonic), Stamina 4 (regenerative), Energy Projection 7 (limitless output), Fighting Skills 5 (master of a style)

[Special Ability]

Optic Blast: Emits red concussive beams from his eyes with continuous, seemingly inexhaustible power.

"Oh? A mutant who's specialized into a single capability?"

Saitama's favorability ticked up a notch. He liked people who went all-in on one thing.

Cyclops, however, had zero fondness for Saitama. He pulled off his visor. Scarlet light flooded out and engulfed Saitama.

A roaring column of force shoved Saitama—and Colossus clamped on behind him—skidding backward.

Colossus had already braced to be bored through. Once Scott opened up, shutting it down wasn't easy. Friendly fire was inevitable. But he didn't regret it. Charles had rewritten his mind—made Professor X the most important person in his life. For Charles, he would give anything. Grabbing the enemy and calling an indiscriminate strike was a price he'd pay.

Only… after the initial shove, Saitama simply… planted his feet.

"Oh! A beam that can push people? Your power… is pretty fun!" Saitama's eyes lit up. "Just like those little demons in Doom!"

Doom? Colossus blinked, baffled.

What he did know: Cyclops' attack wasn't doing anything to Saitama.

At first he thought Saitama was just toughing it out. One minute passed.

Two minutes passed.

Three minutes…

The beam thundered on. Saitama stood there, utterly unmoved.
