That alien parasitic seed was ground into powder by the punch's wind with pinpoint precision, and the green light went out instantly.
The giant squirrel shrank like a balloon that had been popped, rapidly returning to its original size—back to that cute little squirrel (though right now it was scared half to death). It fell from the sky, and Saitama casually caught it, then gently set it down on the grass nearby. The little squirrel, still in shock, zipped into the bushes and vanished.
Saitama landed lightly.
Hawkeye Barton had watched the whole thing from the tree. He lowered his bow, pulled an arrow from his quiver, looked at the arrowhead, then looked down at the bald guy below, and couldn't help sighing.
"Man… shooting arrows one by one is way too slow… your method's faster."
He thought for a second, shoved the arrow back into his quiver, and pulled out his communicator.
"Director Fury, for my next equipment upgrade, I'd like to request a batch of… uh… 'high-explosive gauntlets'? Or arrowheads that can boost my punch power by ten times?"
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end.
Fury replied with one word. "Get lost."
Yellowstone National Park.
Tectonic activity suddenly became abnormally intense. Monitoring instruments screamed the highest-level alarm—this wasn't a normal earthquake or volcanic warning. The readings showed a gigantic lifeform rapidly rising from deep within the mantle!
Finally, in a relatively open area inside the park, the ground bulged violently—then split open into a massive fissure. Along with a column of steam and lava blasting into the sky, a horrifying creature larger than a subway train burst out of the earth.
Its entire body was dark red, its skin rough like cooled magma, but bright, blazing lava flowed through the cracks. It radiated thousand-degree heat. Wherever it passed, grass and trees instantly carbonized and ignited, and even rock began to melt.
This was the legendary subterranean lifeform
A Lava Worm!
Army artillery and missile strikes could blow off some chunks, but they couldn't damage its core at all—if anything, they only enraged it. It opened a chrysanthemum-shaped maw lined with rings of jagged teeth and sprayed a high-pressure stream of lava into the sky like a flamethrower, igniting the distant forest.
The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s emergency response team arrived, but the extreme heat and lava armor made most attacks useless. Even heroes with tremendous strength struggled to get close. The mutant codenamed "Pyro," John Allerdyce, tried to control the flames on the worm's surface—only to discover the lava's temperature and energy tier far exceeded his limits. He nearly got backlash-burned by it.
"…No good! External attacks barely do anything! The core has to be inside its body!" Iron Man concluded after scanning. "But how do we get in? Through that mouth full of teeth? Or through skin thicker than a tank?"
Just as everyone was stumped, Saitama walked to the very front line. The heatwave whipped his cape into a loud flutter, but he seemed completely unaffected.
"Sensei, the target's surface temperature exceeds 1,200°C. It's extremely dangerous!" Genos warned.
"Oh. Got it." Saitama stared at the rampaging giant worm. His gaze settled on the mouth that kept opening and closing—spewing deadly molten fluid.
At that moment, the Lava Worm seemed to notice the cluster of "tiny bugs" over here. It turned its massive maw toward Saitama. Deep in its throat, a blinding red glow began to build
A huge lava blast was about to fire!
