Just a split second before the scorching magma burst out like a waterfall, Saitama moved. He didn't retreat—he leapt straight into the direction of the eruption, jumping with perfect precision into the Lava Worm's gaping mouth, like a volcano crater!
"Is he insane?!" Johnny cried out in shock. Everyone else stared, dumbfounded.
The worm's gigantic maw snapped shut, and Saitama vanished inside.
However, once inside the worm's body, Saitama didn't feel the expected searing heat or burning at all. Around him was indeed writhing, tough muscle tissue. The temperature was high, sure—but nowhere near molten-lava levels. To him, it felt more like… a sauna. Even a bit warm, if anything. Thick digestive fluids tried to corrode him, yet they couldn't even damage his tracksuit.
"Pretty sturdy in here," Saitama commented. Then he started walking toward a direction where he figured the core would be.
He didn't walk fast, but every step was steady as a mountain. The convulsing, pulsing muscles inside the worm couldn't affect him in the slightest.
After taking a few dozen steps, he sensed a powerful, drumbeat-like throbbing ahead—along with an intense energy fluctuation. Ten organs, each the size of a car and wrapped in thick muscle, were beating hard, glowing a dark crimson.
"Found you."
Saitama stopped, raised his fist toward that pounding core, and threw a punch.
One punch.
"THOOM!!!"
A deep, muffled boom rang out from inside the Lava Worm.
Outside, the Avengers saw the massive Lava Worm suddenly freeze. Then it let out an agonized, distorted shriek (no one knew what it was using to make sound). Its enormous body went berserk, rolling and thrashing, smashing the ground into ruins as magma splattered everywhere.
After nearly a full minute of violent struggling, the Lava Worm's movements slowed… then it stiffened completely, collapsing motionless into the torn earth. The magma flowing over its body visibly lost its glow, cooling and hardening into real, black volcanic rock.
A few minutes later, near the worm's head the rocky shell cracked from the inside.
Saitama climbed out completely unharmed, brushing off a bit of slime and cooled magma debris clinging to him…
Johnny, who had rushed over, stared at the gigantic worm corpse with no sign of life, then looked at Saitama and swallowed hard as he said with difficulty:
"Y-you… just jumped into its mouth… and you solved it from the inside?"
Saitama nodded, rolling his shoulders a little. "Yeah. It was pretty roomy in there. Smelled kinda nasty, though. It's done, right? Then I'm gonna head back and check the weather forecast. I think they said there's a typhoon warning today."
Everyone looked at the wrecked scene—like a volcanic eruption had just happened—and fell silent again.
To this man, taking down an extinction-level monster that drilled up from the planet's core, and worrying about whether it might rain tonight… seemed equally important.
A summer seaside beach—always the synonym for noise and joy. Azure waves lapped against golden sand. Seagulls cried in the sky. Under the parasols drifted the scent of sunscreen and sweet ice cream…
