Saitama's partner was Wolverine.
Logan clenched a cigar between his teeth, his sharp eyes sweeping over the murky water. "Listen, baldy," he said in a rough voice, "that thing's hide is harder to chew through than adamantium. When it comes at us, stay back. Don't get swallowed in one bite—I'm not fishing you out of a crocodile's stomach."
Saitama was wearing a waterproof suit, trudging through the mud with one foot deep, the other foot shallow. His attention seemed to get caught by a frog hopping past.
"Oh. Got it."
Suddenly, the stretch of water ahead churned violently. A massive black shadow burst through the surface, bringing a sky of mud with it as it lunged over—there it was, the mutated giant crocodile! Its gaping jaws were wide enough to swallow a small car whole, and deep in its throat a blue glow of bioelectricity flickered. It was terrifyingly fast!
Logan roared. In an instant, six cold, gleaming adamantium claws snapped out as he charged to meet it head-on. He avoided the crocodile's frontal bite, leapt onto its back, and drove his claws down with savage force!
Clang!
A harsh metallic screech rang out, sparks flying. The supposedly unstoppable adamantium claws only carved a few pale, shallow lines into the crocodile's hide—no penetration at all!
The giant crocodile, stung by pain, thrashed like mad. A huge wave of muddy water surged up, flinging Logan off its back and swallowing him into the swampy sludge.
And right then, the crocodile's main target seemed to lock onto the one who looked completely harmless—Saitama. It let out another roar and lunged again, the stench slamming into his face.
Saitama watched that cave-like maw snap toward him. He simply shifted to the side, dodging the fatal bite by a hair. In the instant the upper and lower jaws clamped shut, he reached out both hands—one bracing the upper jaw, the other gripping the lower.
Then he pulled his arms apart, forcing them open!
Crack—!!!
A teeth-grinding, gigantic snapping sound exploded through the air, like a massive tree trunk breaking. The crocodile's jaw strength looked laughable in front of Saitama's power.
Its jaws were wrenched open to an utterly unnatural angle by an irresistible brute force, exposing a pulsating energy core deep in its throat, flashing with intense blue bioelectric light.
Saitama didn't hesitate. He released one hand, leaned in, and drove a punch straight into that condensed bioelectric core.
Pshhk!
It was like popping a water bag stuffed full of electric arcs. The blue light flared violently—then went out.
The crocodile's enormous body convulsed hard once. The savage light in its eyes vanished. Its pried-open mouth drooped limply, and its whole body collapsed into the muddy water with a heavy splash.
Logan finally struggled up out of the swamp, spitting mud from his mouth—only to see the crocodile lying dead and Saitama casually pulling his fist back.
His cigar almost fell out.
He looked at the shallow white marks on his own claws… then looked at the crocodile's violently torn-open jaw and the core that had clearly been destroyed.
Logan walked over in silence, prodded the still-rock-hard hide with a claw, then glanced at Saitama, who was calmly flicking slime off the back of his hand. He took the cigar out, exhaled a thick plume of smoke, and muttered in a low voice with disbelief—and a bit of frustration mixed in:
"…Freak."
Saitama turned his head to look at Logan. "It's handled. What now?"
Logan jammed the cigar back into his mouth and took a deep drag. "...Report complete, then find somewhere to drink. Damn it, I need hard liquor."
