Chapter 230 - Chapter 230: Slaying a Titan

"Heavenly Work Heavy Construct, it seems we've pushed these xenos too hard, even pulling out something like this." Alex stood in the command post of Outpost Four, looking through binoculars at the massive metal beast charging towards the outpost, his face showing no panic.

The Heavenly Work Heavy Construct was like a moving steel mountain, each step making the ground tremble, as if even the air grew heavy under its oppression.

Its surface was covered with complex runes and energy circuits, glowing with green light, as if declaring its invincible power.

Synaptic Disruptors, Cross-Dimensional Emitters, Singularity Generators—these weapons, whose names alone sent shivers down one's spine, were now mounted on this behemoth, as if ready to unleash destructive energy at any moment.

However, there was no trace of fear on Alex's face.

Instead, the corners of his mouth curved slightly upwards, revealing a cold sneer.

In his opinion, the appearance of this Heavenly Work Heavy Construct precisely proved the enemy's weakness.

(A unit worth 253.5 pounds, considered the cheapest Titan unit currently on sale.)

"Inquisitor, please transfer to the rear immediately! My Glorious Halo and I will buy you time to evacuate!" Sir Erich looked at the behemoth approaching at an extremely fast speed for a Titan unit, and resolutely decided to buy Alex time to evacuate.

In his view, this was simply a destined honorable death.

What could be more worthy of a Knight's generous sacrifice than charging towards an unconquerable enemy?

Sir Erich did not believe the Expeditionary Force had the power to kill this terrifying Titan unit, as the Expeditionary Force had not received assistance from the Adeptus Mechanicus's Titan Legion this time.

Without equivalent units capable of engaging a Titan, it was almost an impossible task for ground forces alone to destroy such a Titan unit.

Even if the Expeditionary Force possessed super-heavy tanks that could contend with a Titan in firepower, they would still need someone to hold the line for them to gain an opportunity to fire.

So, in Erich's view, this was his perfect opportunity for a generous sacrifice.

As an Imperial Knight, he had long regarded honor as the most important part of his life.

And at this moment, standing before Inquisitor Alex, he felt an unprecedented sense of mission.

However, Alex unhurriedly said, "Don't be in such a hurry to die, Sir Erich. Each of our lives is the Emperor's currency; don't waste it lightly."

His voice was calm and firm, as if stating a simple fact.

Sir Erich was stunned; he didn't fully understand Alex's words and was somewhat bewildered.

Alex said no more, but turned to look at the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct.

His gaze was calm and sharp, as if he were examining an ordinary tool, rather than a Titan-class combat unit capable of destroying the entire outpost.

His tone was unbelievably casual: "What's more, it's just a Heavenly Work Heavy Construct. Eliminating it doesn't require the sacrifice of an Imperial Knight."

Sir Erich grew even more puzzled upon hearing this.

However, Alex offered no explanation.

He raised his hand, lightly pressed the switch on the comm-bead, and his calm voice transmitted through the communication channel to the Black Ship in orbit: "An alien Titan-class combat unit has appeared directly in front of my position. Do you see it?"

On the other end of the comm-bead, the First Mate on the Black Ship immediately responded, his voice firm and clear: "I see it, Inquisitor!"

Alex's gaze remained fixed on the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct, his tone unwavering: "I don't want to see it anymore. Do you understand?"

The First Mate's voice held no hesitation: "Yes, Inquisitor, you will not see it again!"

The corners of Alex's mouth curved slightly upwards, revealing a faint smile: "Very good. I'll watch you eliminate it from the outpost."

His tone was as relaxed as if he were discussing an unimportant drill, not a life-and-death battle.

After speaking, Alex cut off the communication, and in the sky, several super-heavy shells fired by Macro Cannons plunged down from outside the atmosphere.

These shells streaked across the sky like meteors, carrying destructive power directly to the ground.

Their speed was extremely fast, almost instantly piercing the atmosphere and violently striking the area around the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct.

The shockwave of the explosion instantly swept across the entire battlefield, with scorching flames and thick smoke rising into the sky, as if to consume everything.

The massive body of the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct swayed in the explosion, its armor torn, and its mechanical structure emitting a piercing cracking sound.

However, this was only the beginning.

Immediately after, a pillar of light from a Lance weapon descended from the heavens, as if it were the judgment sword of a deity.

The pillar of light was so dazzling it was impossible to look directly at it; its appearance seemed to split the sky in half, carrying irresistible energy as it slammed directly into the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct.

The moment the pillar of light made contact with the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct, a vast torrent of light poured down like a flood, instantly engulfing it.

The Heavenly Work Heavy Construct's armor rapidly melted in the light stream, its internal mechanical structure was completely destroyed, and its massive body disintegrated in the light, turning into countless fragments.

The aftershocks of the explosion and the light of the energy beam intertwined, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

The entire battlefield seemed to fall into a brief silence at this moment, with only the dazzling light and lingering smoke and dust permeating the air.

"See, killing a Titan isn't as difficult as you imagined." Alex turned to look at the dumbfounded Sir Erich, his expression like a painter showing off his newly completed masterpiece.

His tone was relaxed and confident, as if the earth-shattering battle just now was merely a casual stroke of his brush.

Sir Erich opened his mouth but found himself at a loss for words.

His gaze shifted back and forth between Alex and the pile of scrap metal that was once the Heavenly Work Heavy Construct, his heart filled with shock and awe.

Just then, a deafening roar came from the rear of the outpost: "For the Emperor!"

The sound surged like a tide, carrying fervent faith and unparalleled momentum.

Sir Erich turned to look, only to see a large group of Ecclesiarchy clerics in simple cloth robes leading a massive Holy War Army pouring into the outpost.

They held various weapons in their hands, from crude spears to finely crafted Lasguns, everything imaginable.

Although their equipment was varied, the same fire burned in their eyes—the power of faith.

These Holy War Army soldiers did not, as Sir Erich had expected, fanatically charge directly at the enemy.

Instead, led by the Ecclesiarchy priests, they orderly found the C Company's company deputy; after a brief handover, the Holy War Army quickly dispersed into the outpost and began assisting C Company in defense.

Their actions, though not as well-trained as the Astra Militarum, were filled with piety and determination.

Soon, a leading Ecclesiarchy priest, guided by an Astra Militarum soldier from C Company, arrived before Alex.

The priest was dressed in deep red robes, with a golden Ecclesiarchy holy symbol hanging on his chest, and he held a thick holy book in his hand.

His face bore a solemn expression, but his eyes gleamed with ill-concealed excitement.

He bowed slightly to Alex, then spoke in a respectful and firm tone: "Inquisitor, the Ecclesiarchy's second batch of three million Holy War Army soldiers has arrived. As per your instructions, we are dispersing in ten-thousand-man contingents to reinforce the various Astra Militarum regiments that require assistance.

Currently, approximately one hundred ten-thousand-man contingents have reached the front line, with the rest continuously entering the battlefield."
