"The Jade Emperor Purple Lily is an extremely rare immortal herb—among us, it's the rarest of all," Lou'er explained. "It can strengthen the soul, calm the mind, and inspire dignity and courage. But it's not quite suited for your companion, Master."
"Lou'er, that's not a fair thing to say!" Before either Zhu Ziyang or Zhang Lexuan could speak, the Jade Emperor Purple Lily interjected with a chuckle. "You don't know anything about me, so how can you say this young lady isn't suited to me? I actually think she's very much to my liking."
"Oh? Then you can speak with my master yourself." Lou'er smiled and floated over to Zhu Ziyang's shoulder.
Zhu Ziyang and Zhang Lexuan stepped closer to the Jade Emperor Purple Lily, curious to hear what this unique herb had to say.
"Yuyu, are you planning to leave too?" the Fragrant Silk Immortal called out, her voice filled with surprise and sorrow.
"Perhaps, Youyou," Yuyu replied vaguely. She then turned to Zhang Lexuan and Zhu Ziyang—more precisely, to Zhang Lexuan. "Little girl, what's your name? And what's your status among humans?"
"I'm Zhang Lexuan. As for my status… I suppose I'm the senior sister of the academy," Zhang Lexuan said with a smile.
Zhu Ziyang sighed at her response. "Sister Lexuan, aren't you forgetting something?"
"Oh, right. I'm also a princess of an empire," she added playfully.
"A princess?!" The Jade Emperor Purple Lily had nearly given up on Zhang Lexuan after the first answer, but now her interest reignited. She asked excitedly, "Do you have a chance of becoming an empress?"
"We're helping Sister Lexuan ascend as the Empress of the Sun and Moon Empire," Zhu Ziyang replied, seemingly catching on to the immortal herb's intentions—and perhaps even guessing her true abilities.
"Really?" Yuyu turned to Zhang Lexuan to confirm.
"Yes, Ziyang is right," Zhang Lexuan nodded. As clever as she was, she had already realized this hundred-thousand-year immortal herb had chosen her.
"Wonderful!" Yuyu exclaimed. "In that case, can I become your soul spirit? While my attributes may not match your martial soul exactly, my powers suit your position perfectly! If you choose me, I can grant you a commanding imperial presence—and even evolve your martial soul into a unique Emperor Martial Soul!"
"Sure!" Zhang Lexuan accepted. Though Yuyu lacked moon attributes, her powers perfectly matched the role Lexuan was preparing for. She glanced at Zhu Ziyang, who nodded in encouragement.
Soon after, Zhu Ziyang facilitated the soul spirit contract between Zhang Lexuan and the Jade Emperor Purple Lily. The two quickly became enveloped in a cocoon of spiritual energy, forming their bond.
With Lexuan and Nannan both in the midst of soul spirit integration, Zhu Ziyang approached the Fragrant Silk Immortal, intent on digging for information.
"D-Don't come any closer!" she cried in fear as he approached.
"Zhu Ziyang, you're not really going to hurt Youyou, are you?" asked the Infernal Delicate Apricot, worried.
"Heh! Don't worry," Zhu Ziyang said with a smirk. "I have no interest in a plant that only detoxifies." Then, more seriously, he added, "I just want to ask a few things about the Sea God."
"O-Okay, you can ask!" the Fragrant Silk Immortal breathed a sigh of relief. "But I might not know everything…"
"Simple solution. Just tell me everything you do know," Zhu Ziyang smiled.
"Huh?" She hesitated, then said, "Alright, let me think…"
"Take your time," he said warmly.
"Lord Sea God is named Tang San. He ascended from the Douluo Continent ten thousand years ago and left behind a sect called the Tang Sect. What he entrusted to me is connected to that sect. He told me that someday, a Tang Sect descendant would come to retrieve it. When I pass it on to that person, he'll take me to the Divine Realm!" Her voice was full of hopeful longing.
"What exactly is it?" Zhu Ziyang asked, curious.
"I can't say!" she immediately refused.
"Hmm?" Zhu Ziyang frowned and raised his hand. A gray aura of death energy began to form.
"I-I'll talk! Just put that thing away! It's terrifying!" she cried.
"I hope you'll answer everything truthfully. If not… hmph."
"I will, I promise!" she nodded frantically. "It's a book. Lord Sea God left behind a book."
"A book? What kind of book?" Zhu Ziyang's curiosity deepened.
"I don't know! I can't read, and the book is protected by the Sea God's divine sense. Unless the person is from the Tang Sect, they can't open it!"
"Oh?" Zhu Ziyang narrowed his eyes and asked, "Do you really believe the Sea God will take you to the Divine Realm?"
"Of course! Why wouldn't he? Lord Sea God is a god—how could he lie to a devout follower like me?"
"Hmm…" Zhu Ziyang didn't respond. He was lost in thought now. That Sea God Tang San… wasn't he also the God of Shura? Why hadn't he asked Xiao Bai what rank the God of Shura was? He was starting to regret it.
Half an hour later, Jiang Nannan was the first to awaken. Behind her shimmered two purple, four black, and one red ring—seven soul rings in total. Perched on her fragrant shoulder was a tiny figure: the flower-fairy form of the Laurel Immortal Tea.
She was about the same size as Lou'er, but her colors were bright yellow. Her tiny dress and hair ornaments were golden yellow, while her hair and eyes were silvery-white, just like Jiang Nannan's.
"Hehe, so this is what a human body feels like? So weird and wonderful!" Chacha giggled as she wiggled her tiny limbs.
"Alright, settle down!" Jiang Nannan laughed, pinching her little cheeks, then turned to Zhu Ziyang with joy. "Brother, I did it! I'm now a Rank 73 Soul Sage!"
"Mhm, I saw!" Zhu Ziyang hugged her, affectionately rubbing her forehead. "When you reach Soul Douluo, Chacha should be able to provide you with another soul ring, saving us a lot of trouble."
"I got it!" Nannan beamed. Her gaze then shifted toward Zhang Lexuan, who was still in the middle of her fusion. "What kind of immortal herb did Sister Lexuan choose?"
"The Jade Emperor Purple Lily—a special type of herb very useful for her," Zhu Ziyang explained.
"Jade Emperor Purple Lily?" Jiang Nannan had never heard of it before, but somehow, she felt it suited Zhang Lexuan well. "Just the name feels like it was meant for Sister Lexuan!"
"Right? I think so too!" Zhu Ziyang chuckled. "It'll help her gain imperial aura and evolve her martial soul into an Emperor Martial Soul. Looks like Sister Lexuan really is destined to become empress."
"Brother, what exactly is an Emperor Martial Soul?" Jiang Nannan asked curiously.
"It's like the beast kings among soul beasts—one emperor per race. Like how Blue Silver Grass has the Blue Silver Emperor," Zhu Ziyang explained. "Not all races have emperors, but those that do—well, their emperor is vastly more powerful than their kin."
"I get it now." Jiang Nannan nodded thoughtfully. "Sister Lexuan's moon martial soul doesn't naturally have an emperor form, but the Jade Emperor Purple Lily can grant her that, giving her an edge when facing Sun and Moon Empire's nobility."
"Hahaha! Nannan's so clever!" Zhu Ziyang pinched her cheek affectionately.
