After two days of rest at the academy, Zhu Ziyang, Jiang Nannan, and Zhang Lexuan set off for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Qian Lingyi, unusually, chose not to follow Zhu Ziyang and instead stayed behind at the academy to cultivate.
The girl had been rattled by Jiang Nannan's rapid progress. She had previously been quite ambitious, believing she'd reach Soul Sage before Jiang Nannan. But it hadn't even been half a year, and her confidence had already been thoroughly extinguished. She couldn't understand—Jiang Nannan had only reached Soul Emperor three or four months before her, so how had she broken through to Soul Sage so quickly?
Zhu Ziyang hadn't told Qian Lingyi anything about the divine position trials. Otherwise, the girl wouldn't be foolishly trying to compare cultivation speed with a divinely blessed cultivator like Jiang Nannan.
Zhu Ziyang was already very familiar with entering the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, having been there multiple times. Outside the well, he held Jiang Nannan in his left arm and Zhang Lexuan in his right. This brief moment of having beauties in both arms nearly made him dizzy with bliss. Fortunately, once they entered the well, Zhang Lexuan promptly stepped out of his embrace.
This filled Zhu Ziyang with a sense of loss. At some point, Zhang Lexuan had started deliberately avoiding becoming too intimate with him.
He didn't have time to dwell on this though, because an angry and questioning voice rang out.
"Hey! You three humans, which one of you is Zhu Ziyang?"
The trio was stunned. They followed the voice to the border between the Yin and Yang springs, where a large pink flower swayed back and forth. Even without a face, they could feel her fury and killing intent.
Zhu Ziyang immediately recognized the identity of the flower—it was the Fragrant Silk Immortal, the Sea God's proxy, the true queen of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, nemesis of all poisons, and the "Youyou" that Lou'er had spoken of!
"You're Youyou?" Zhu Ziyang stepped forward, gazing thoughtfully at the Fragrant Silk Immortal. "I'm Zhu Ziyang. What do you want with me?"
"So you're Zhu Ziyang? Good! You've got some nerve coming back here!" The Fragrant Silk Immortal trembled with rage, her body shaking as she shouted, "You despicable human! You sneaked in while I was dormant and stole away Kuikui and Bingbing!"
"'Stole'?" Zhu Ziyang raised an eyebrow. "Watch your words. They left with me willingly. I didn't force them. In fact, this time I plan to take another one or two of you away. What do you think?"
"You—you—you!" The Fragrant Silk Immortal was so furious she couldn't even speak. Pink pollen scattered into the air, and dozens of thick green vines burst from the ground, whipping straight at the three of them.
Zhu Ziyang hadn't expected her to attack so suddenly. A sneer appeared on his face. He raised his right hand and released a streak of gray light, which cut cleanly through the vines and landed menacingly at the base of the Fragrant Silk Immortal. The vines withered instantly, turning gray, then black, before collapsing into dead, crumbling leaves on the ground.
"Try that again, and I'll turn you into compost," Zhu Ziyang said coldly.
"You…" The Fragrant Silk Immortal was truly terrified. Her flower and leaves curled inward, trembling uncontrollably. She hadn't expected Zhu Ziyang to wield the power of death—a true bane to a plant-type soul beast like herself!
With the Fragrant Silk Immortal subdued, Zhu Ziyang turned his gaze toward the other immortal herbs within the well.
"Chacha, Jiaojiao, are you awake?" he called.
"I'm here!" The Infernal Delicate Apricot emerged from the Yang Spring. "Zhu Ziyang, don't be too hard on Youyou! She's carrying that person's divine sense. If you kill her, that person will definitely be alerted!"
"Don't worry. As long as she doesn't attack, I won't make things difficult for her." Zhu Ziyang wasn't prepared to confront the Sea God directly, so he wasn't planning to push the Fragrant Silk Immortal too far.
"But if you can find someone from Tang Sect and have them remove that object from within Youyou's flower, then the divine sense that person left behind will disappear too," said the Infernal Delicate Apricot with a slightly gloating tone.
"Jiaojiao, how could you tell him that?" The Fragrant Silk Immortal was dumbfounded. Her greatest trump card had just been exposed. Infuriated, she shouted, "Are you really planning to leave? Don't you want to become a god?"
"Become a god? Ha!" The Infernal Delicate Apricot laughed scornfully. "Youyou, you're the only one still naïve enough to believe that person's promises. Stay here and guard your empty dreams all you like!"
"That can't be!" The Fragrant Silk Immortal refused to believe it. "That person said they would take us to the Divine Realm—they will!"
"Hmph!" The Infernal Delicate Apricot snorted and continued arguing with her.
Zhu Ziyang, not interested in watching two plants bicker, led Jiang Nannan over to the Laurel Immortal Tea. The Laurel Immortal Tea had clearly been waiting and greeted them joyfully.
"Nannan, you finally came! I was worried my petals were going to fall off waiting for you!"
"This is the Laurel Immortal Tea?" Zhang Lexuan was astonished. She could feel a strong affinity between the immortal herb and her own aura.
"Yes," Zhu Ziyang nodded. "If Chacha hadn't already chosen Nannan, she would've been a great match for you too, Sister Lexuan."
"Yes, Chacha, I'm here!" Jiang Nannan's smile deepened.
"Hurry and start the contract! I can't wait anymore," said the Laurel Immortal Tea. "Zhu Ziyang came here twice before and left with someone else both times—it was driving me crazy!"
"Alright, alright, I know you're impatient. Let's begin!" Zhu Ziyang laughed at her complaints and nodded at Jiang Nannan. "Get ready, time to start the soul spirit contract!"
With his guidance, Jiang Nannan sat cross-legged beside the Laurel Immortal Tea, and a silver light enveloped her. The change drew the attention of the still-arguing Fragrant Silk Immortal and Infernal Delicate Apricot, as well as many other immortal herbs. Most of them displayed waves of emotional envy.
"Damn it! They took Chacha again!" the Fragrant Silk Immortal gritted her teeth. She wanted to stop them but didn't dare. Not only was she afraid of Zhu Ziyang's death energy, she was also interested in the soul spirit process herself. And besides, it was Chacha's own will to leave—she had no right to stop it.
Once the contract was complete, Zhu Ziyang turned to Zhang Lexuan. "Sister Lexuan, let's find a suitable immortal herb for you now."
"Okay! Just tell me what to do," she said curiously.
"Good. First, release your martial soul. Let these herbs feel your strength and aura. Then I'll ask them for their thoughts," Zhu Ziyang said after a moment of thought.
"No problem." Zhang Lexuan nodded and released her Moon Martial Soul. Two purple, five black, and one red soul ring shone brilliantly, and gentle moonlight poured over the area around the Yin-Yang springs. Shade-loving herbs began to sway with joy, basking in the moonlight.
"Moonlight! Such soothing moonlight!" cried a voice from a purple lily. From the side, it resembled a crescent moon, but head-on, it looked like a dragon's fang. The elegant and regal voice resembled that of a noblewoman of high status.
The purple lily turned to Zhang Lexuan. "Girl, what's your name?"
"Huh?" Zhang Lexuan was taken aback. She didn't recognize this herb and looked helplessly at Zhu Ziyang, who also looked confused. Despite all his reading, he couldn't identify this flower either.
Judging by the petals, it seemed to be a type of Dragonfang Lily—but its petals were violet, like finely carved purple crystal. The entire bloom resembled a royal crown made of precious amethysts. Its root resembled red agate, and its leaves were like green jade. The whole plant exuded a luxurious glow like precious gems.
"She's Yuyu, a Jade Sovereign Purple Lily," Lou'er appeared in time to resolve their confusion. "She's the eldest among us, and her power is close to 200,000 years."
"Jade Sovereign Purple Lily!" Both Zhu Ziyang and Zhang Lexuan had never heard of such a plant before and stared at her in awe and curiosity.
The Jade Sovereign Purple Lily basked in their attention, proudly radiating her charm. Her regal glow dazzled them, filling their hearts with wonder.
