"Thor, calm down."
"I know it's hard for you to believe, but everything I've said is true."
While those thoughts flickered through his mind, Loki didn't stop trying to persuade his brother. His expression remained serious, his tone calm and measured.
Unfortunately for him, Thor, who had already begun to doubt him, was no longer so easily fooled.
"Is that so?"
Thor suddenly stood up, grabbed the notebook from the table beside him, and slammed it down in front of Loki.
He intended to confirm everything once and for all.
"???"
Loki blinked in confusion. What in the Nine Realms was Thor doing now? What was that thing in his hand?
Why was he acting so strangely?
"Do you know what this is?"
Thor pointed at the notebook and demanded.
"The… table? Thor, what are you doing?"
Loki stared blankly at where Thor was pointing — which, to him, appeared to be nothing but a table — and was completely baffled.
"Not the table, this— Mmph!"
Before Thor could finish his sentence, an invisible force suddenly tightened around his throat. His words were cut off midair, as if someone had seized him by the neck.
"Damn it!"
Thor slammed his fist on the table in frustration.
This damned notebook! Other than when he was in front of Nick Fury and the others, he couldn't even speak of it to anyone else!
"Seems this whole thing has hit you pretty hard," Loki said after watching for a while. "I think you need to rest."
To Loki, Thor's bizarre behavior could only mean one thing — the shock had driven his brother half-insane.
Otherwise, how could he possibly explain such nonsense?
"I don't need rest!"
"Loki, tell me the truth — do you plan to kill me next?"
Thor's eyes burned as he gave up on mentioning the notebook and asked what truly weighed on his mind.
That one question completely stunned Loki.
Kill his idiotic brother?
He had never even considered it!All Loki wanted right now was for Thor to stay on Earth as a mortal forever, while he himself ruled Asgard as king — being the good son Odin and Frigga always wanted. Nothing more.
Later, when he did think of killing Thor, it was only because Heimdall, the Warriors Three, and others defied him — secretly trying to bring Thor back — which had pushed him over the edge.
So the look of shock on Loki's face wasn't an act. It was genuine.
"What? That's ridiculous, Thor! Why would you even think that?"
Loki frowned slightly, a hint of unease rising in his heart.
Was Thor's erratic behavior… actually because of Odin's death?Had grief driven him mad?
It had to be that.
Though something deep inside told him there was more to it, Loki couldn't find a better explanation.
"Listen, Loki," Thor said firmly. "I don't know what tricks you're playing or what you're planning, but I'll tell you this — I will return to Asgard!"
"Whatever has happened there, I'll see it with my own eyes!"
His voice was heavy with determination.
Loki, however, could only smirk inwardly.
Asgard was already under his control. Without his permission, Thor could never return.
"I understand this must be hard to accept," Loki said with a sorrowful sigh. "And I truly wish I could help you. I really do."
"But I can't."
"Farewell."
With that final line, Loki turned away. His figure flickered — and in the next instant, he was gone.
"No, Loki! Wait!"
"Loki!"
Thor shouted a few more times, but the room echoed with nothing but silence. Loki was truly gone.
After a long pause, Thor sat back down, his gaze once again falling on the mysterious notebook.
But this time, his attitude toward it had completely changed.
Loki's reaction — everything that had just happened — had been exactly as the notebook foretold.
From beginning to end, Loki's behavior proved this thing couldn't have been his doing.
So what was this notebook?
If it could predict Loki's actions, did that mean the Warriors Three would appear next?Would the Destroyer truly descend upon them?
And most terrifying of all — would his father, mother, and Loki himself really die, as the book claimed?
Thor's heart grew heavy.
"I have to go back!"
"No… I must return now!"
A rising sense of urgency filled him. He could no longer wait — he rushed outside, straight to Nick Fury, and stood before his hammer once more.
He had to lift Mjolnir, and return to Asgard!
But alas — he still wasn't worthy.
No matter how many times he tried, he couldn't move it. Even after exhausting himself completely, the hammer remained immovable.
"Thor, we're moving out," said Fury, walking over. "I think you should come with us."
"Moving out?"
Thor shook his head immediately. "No. I'm not leaving my hammer."
"No one's asking you to leave it."
Fury explained, "New Mexico's a small town, but not small enough. We're relocating to a place where the Destroyer won't have anything to destroy."
"Your hammer — and you — are coming with us."
Now that Fury knew the Destroyer might really descend, and that Captain America could wield the hammer, he wasn't about to sit idle.
Orders had already been sent.
About twenty-one kilometers away, in a remote desert area, a hidden S.H.I.E.L.D. base had been prepared — the perfect battlefield.
Quinjets and convoys were ready, the entire operation set in motion.
If this had been before Loki appeared, Thor might have scoffed at such a plan. All this because of a strange notebook? Ridiculous.
But now…
He dared not take it lightly.
More than anyone else, he understood how terrifying the Destroyer was.
If it truly came as written in the notebook, leveling an entire town would be child's play.
Without another word, Thor joined Fury and the others aboard the Quinjet, flying swiftly toward the hidden base.
"Thor?"
"The Thor from Norse myth?"
"Buddy, you've got to be kidding me."
Inside the jet, Fury officially revealed the mysterious man's identity to the rest of the Avengers.
Every seat was filled by members of the team — no outsiders remained.
Red Guardian snorted. "The god of thunder? You mean the fairy tale? That's for kids."
Even if such a god existed, could this disheveled vagrant really be him?
Hawkeye glanced over, his eyes narrowing slightly. Though surprised, he didn't doubt Fury's words.
That would explain why this "drifter" kept calling himself Thor.
"So that hammer… that's Mjolnir?"
Hawkeye looked at the weapon resting on the floor and suddenly understood.
No wonder it could summon lightning — it really was the hammer of the thunder god!
The only thing he didn't get was why Thor himself couldn't lift it… but Captain America could.
He wisely kept that question to himself — the man had been through enough already.
"Mjolnir, huh?"
Captain America gave a faint smile and shook his head. "I thought the world was getting better, but it just keeps getting stranger."
Stranger?
If only he knew — this was just the beginning.
The other notebook holders silently exchanged glances. Compared to the chaotic world hinted at within those pages, this was nothing but a warm-up act.
The Quinjet covered the twenty kilometers quickly.
"Director, everything's ready."
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents waiting at the base saluted as the team arrived, guiding them inside and helping everyone settle in swiftly.
Whiplash's special ops unit and other covert teams took up positions — the base was now fully fortified.
It looked ordinary on the surface, but in truth, Fury had prepared every defense possible for the Destroyer's arrival.
"Rogers," Fury said gravely, "I don't know how much time we have, but I need you to get familiar with that hammer — fast."
"What's coming could be the toughest fight we've ever faced."
Of all their preparations, this one mattered most. Thor — or anyone who could wield his hammer — was their trump card.
"That thing you mentioned… will it really come?" Captain America asked, still uncertain.
It wasn't that he doubted Fury — it just sounded absurd. An enemy from the realm of gods?
"Believe me, Captain," Fury replied darkly, "no one wants this to be true more than I do."
Even Fury's grim tone was enough to make Rogers take it seriously.
After a pause, he began training with the hammer as ordered.
Meanwhile, Thor watched from the side — wounded pride flickering in his eyes.
He'd tried countless times and still couldn't lift Mjolnir.
Now, for the sake of Earth and Asgard, he could only grit his teeth and allow Captain America to wield it.
For three days, tension hung thick over the base — so heavy it was hard to breathe.
And on the fourth day, the silence finally shattered.
"Director, we've spotted four individuals approaching the base — dressed very strangely," came a report from an agent.
The images appeared on the monitors.
"It's them!"
"The Warriors Three — and Lady Sif!"
Thor's eyes widened with joy. After so long on Earth, seeing his friends again made his heart surge with warmth.
But his smile froze a moment later.
The notebook had been right — again.
If that was true… then the rest of it would happen, too.
Would his friends die next?
Would the Destroyer truly appear?
"Barton, Natasha — bring them in," Fury ordered.
Without hesitation, Hawkeye and Black Widow moved out.
Twenty minutes later, they escorted the Asgardians into the base.
"Thor! It really is you!"
"Haha! We finally found you!"
The bearded Volstagg wrapped Thor in a bear hug.
"My friends! It's so good to see you all!"
Thor grinned, his heart swelling with relief.
"How's my father?" he asked urgently after the greetings ended.
"King Odin is fine," Lady Sif replied. "He's entered the Odinsleep early, but yes — he's well."
As expected.
Thor's expression darkened instantly.
Loki — you really lied to me.
Once again, the notebook's prophecy had come true.
"Thor, what's wrong?" Sif asked gently. "Don't worry. We've come to bring you home."
"Yes," Thor nodded solemnly. "I should go back."
But before he could, the alarms blared.
"Director! Detecting massive energy fluctuations — something else is coming!"
Bzzzt!
A new image flashed onto the monitors.
Everyone turned to look — and froze.
A massive, silver-white metal giant was striding across the desert, heading straight for the base.
"The Destroyer!"
Thor's pupils contracted. As expected — it had come.
"The Destroyer!"
"What's going on? Why would it come here?!"
The Warriors Three and Lady Sif were all horrified.
Given Asgard's current situation, only Loki could have sent it.
But why?To kill them? That made no sense — even disobeying orders didn't warrant deploying that!
The Destroyer was reserved for enemies Asgard itself couldn't handle — a weapon of last resort.
Why would Loki use it against his own people?
"So this is the Destroyer?" murmured Tony Stark, eyes narrowing.
This was the creature he couldn't even scratch before?
It certainly looked the part.
"This is our enemy?"
Captain America's expression hardened. Without a word, he extended his hand.
Whoosh!
Mjolnir flew through the air and landed solidly in his palm.
He caught it with ease.
"???"
The Asgardians were stunned.
A mortal… was wielding the hammer of Thor?
How was that possible?!
