Chapter 131 - Loki Was Dumbfounded: Is Earth Really This Strong?!

"You… you—why?"

Fandral's eyes went wide as he stared blankly at Captain America, his words stumbling out in disbelief.

"Thor, what's going on?""Who is he, and why can he lift your hammer?"

The warrior woman, Sif, couldn't suppress the shock in her heart either. She looked at Thor in utter confusion and demanded an answer.

Thor's face was filled with helpless bitterness. He sighed and explained briefly to the three Warriors of Asgard.

"I've been stripped of my divine power by Father. I lost the right to wield Mjölnir… but thankfully, there's someone here on Midgard who can still lift it."

"But even if you can't lift it right now, a mortal from Midgard shouldn't be able to either!"

Volstagg muttered under his breath, still unable to accept such a reality.

Thor's hammer wasn't some random trinket anyone could pick up!Not just on Midgard—even across all of Asgard, across the entire Æsir race—there was no one who could lift it!And now a mere mortal had done so?

"Buddy, believe me, I don't know what's going on either."

Thor gave Volstagg's shoulder a helpless pat. "But it seems like this might actually be a good thing."

That was true.

If that man—Rogers—hadn't been able to lift the hammer, Thor couldn't imagine who else could stand against the Destroyer.

"Thor, you still haven't regained your power?"

Tony Stark's voice came from the side as he glanced at Thor, trying to confirm.

Based on the playboy's analysis, the Destroyer's arrival in New Mexico had to be Loki's doing—sent to kill Thor.

But now Thor had relocated with them, and the Destroyer had changed its landing point too.No longer in New Mexico, but near a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

That confirmed Stark's theory.

Which meant the next step was obvious—a battle between the Destroyer and Thor. And of course, the Warriors Three would likely join the fight.

The diary hadn't detailed how that battle played out, only that Thor eventually returned to Asgard.

So clearly—Loki's plan must have failed.

And from what Stark had learned from Thor before, those Asgardian warriors were no match for the Destroyer.

So Tony guessed that before the final confrontation, Thor must have regained his divine power.

But now—the Destroyer was here!

And though Thor didn't look like he'd recovered yet, Tony still had to confirm.

Swish!

As soon as he asked, everyone's eyes turned to Thor at once.

They all wanted to know the same thing.

Thor sighed and shook his head, frustration and discouragement plain on his face."I think… I might still need more time."

He really hadn't recovered his power?

Tony Stark frowned.

Then how was the Destroyer defeated in that other timeline?

Could it be that it wasn't beaten at all—that Loki came to his senses and stopped it himself?Or… did something else happen?

But lacking enough intel, Tony had no way of figuring it out.

And at this point, it didn't matter anymore.

"Captain, we'll be counting on you now."

Nick Fury's calm, commanding voice broke the silence. The one-eyed man's face was solemn as he gave Rogers a firm nod.

Holding Mjölnir tightly in his hand, Captain America simply nodded back—no wasted words—and strode forward.

The Avengers naturally followed, falling in line behind him to face the incoming Destroyer.

"We're going too!""Together!"

The three Asgardian warriors exchanged glances and quickly made their decision.

Fury, of course, didn't object. He immediately had vehicles arranged for them.

Vroom!

A few moments later, several S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicles roared out of the base, kicking up dust as they sped straight toward the Destroyer's location.

The Destroyer, on the other hand—was also advancing, directly toward the base.Or more precisely—toward Thor.

Both sides met halfway, about 2.5 kilometers from the base.

Clack! Clack! Clack!

Doors swung open.

The Avengers, along with Thor and the Asgardians, all stepped out together, forming a line across the road to block the Destroyer's path.

Everyone—Avengers and Asgardians alike—looked up at the towering metal giant before them, feeling an immense pressure pressing down.

That thing didn't even need to move to make people feel suffocated.

After all, it was Asgard's ultimate weapon!

And the Destroyer—stood like a mountain, looming over them all, silent and motionless.

A tense standoff filled the air.

Meanwhile, in Asgard.

In the royal hall, Loki sat upon the throne—until a flash of astonishment crossed his face.

"That's… Thor's hammer?"

Through the Destroyer's eyes, he had seen everything.A Midgardian—a mere mortal—was wielding Mjölnir!

This was something completely beyond his imagination.

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, Loki wouldn't have believed it.

But then, his shock faded into a mocking smirk.

Did they really think picking up Thor's hammer meant they could stop the Destroyer?

What a joke!

"Loki!"

Back on Earth, Thor stepped forward, shouting toward the Destroyer.

"Even now, I don't want to believe you truly mean to kill me! Why are you doing this?""You deceived me, and now you want me dead! How could you fall so far?""Stop this, Loki! While there's still time to make it right!"

Through the Destroyer, Loki glared down at him, anger flashing across his face.

Why?

Because as long as Thor existed, Loki would never be seen, never be valued!

He was king now!

Heimdall, the Warriors Three—all of them should be loyal to him!

And yet those same "loyal Asgardians" secretly plotted to bring Thor back and overthrow him!

From that moment, Loki knew—exile wasn't enough.Thor had to die.

Only then would the threat be gone for good.

But one thing puzzled him—how had Thor known ahead of time that he meant to kill him?

When Loki had gone to Midgard to trick him, he hadn't even decided to do it yet.

So how did Thor know?

Loki frowned, confused.

But soon he shook his head."Forget it."

It didn't matter anymore.

He lifted his hand and sent a silent command.

Hum!

On Earth, Thor, Captain America, and Tony all noticed it—the Destroyer's head began to glow with blinding light.

"Everyone, be careful!"

Thor's expression changed instantly as he shouted a warning.

Fwoosh!

Before he could finish, a torrent of fire burst from the Destroyer's faceplate, shooting straight at Thor.

Even without his divine power, Thor's reflexes were still sharp. He dove aside just in time, narrowly avoiding the blast.

Though unharmed, his face darkened.

Loki really meant to kill him.

He truly wanted him dead.

Thor's heart clenched. He could hardly believe it.

"Hey, big guy!"

A voice called out. Fully armored, Tony Stark stepped forward, raising his hand.

Click-click!

A small missile popped from his gauntlet, locking onto the Destroyer.

It was worth noting—Tony wasn't wearing the portable Mark V armor this time, but the sturdier Mark IV.He'd secretly moved it to the base days ago, anticipating this fight.

"I'm a Destroyer too!"

With that cheeky line, Tony fired the missile straight at the Asgardian weapon.

BOOM!

The explosion rocked the ground, fire engulfing the Destroyer completely in a dazzling blaze.

The metal giant staggered and fell under the impact.

But just a second later, it rose again—completely unharmed. Not even a scratch.

Tony's face fell flat.

So the diary was right.Even if he hit the thing, it wouldn't do a damn thing.

Depressing.

Boom, boom, boom!

The ground trembled as the Destroyer began advancing again, one heavy step after another, heading straight for Stark.

Its faceplate started glowing once more, power gathering to fire.

CLANG!

Before it could unleash the blast, a sharp metallic crack rang out—the Destroyer's head jerked to the side, its beam shooting wildly off course.

A hammer had smashed into it!

Whoosh!

When the Destroyer straightened again, Mjölnir was already flying back through the air—and landed firmly in Captain America's hand.

"He really can use the hammer!"

The Warriors Three and Sif were all stunned. Their eyes were wide, completely unable to believe it.

It was one thing for a Midgardian to lift the hammer—but to wield it so naturally, so smoothly?Impossible!

Captain America didn't waste a second caring what others thought.

He tightened his grip on Mjölnir and charged straight at the Destroyer.

Buzz!

The Destroyer instantly turned and unleashed another torrent of fire.

But Rogers raised his other arm, swinging his shield forward in one practiced motion—

DUANG!

The impact roared. The flames splashed harmlessly across the indestructible vibranium shield.

Captain America stood firm, unmoved—one hand holding the shield, the other gripping the hammer—a pillar of defiance amidst the firestorm.

He was actually holding back the Destroyer's full assault!

"This is impossible!"

Loki, watching through the Destroyer's sight, sat up straight, disbelief written all over his face.

A mortal from Midgard—going toe-to-toe with the Destroyer?Ridiculous!

Could it be true, what Father's enchantment had declared—"Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor"?

That mortal… had gained Thor's power?!

Why?!

How could a human be worthy of that?!

Loki's fury burned hotter by the second.

Crack!

Suddenly, a flash of light drew his gaze back.

Captain America, still shielding himself from the flames, swung Mjölnir with his other hand—

CRACKLE!

Bolts of lightning erupted from the hammer.

He pointed it at the Destroyer—

BOOM!

Blinding lightning crashed down, striking the metal giant head-on.

The Destroyer staggered, its body sparking violently.

But unlike Tony's armor, it couldn't absorb electricity—it could only endure it.

Even so, it was Asgard's ultimate weapon—it wouldn't fall so easily.

The thunder barely slowed it down.

Realizing this, Captain America switched tactics. He rushed forward, hammer swinging.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The crisp sound of metal on metal rang out again and again.

Captain America darted around the Destroyer like a nimble shadow, blocking blasts with his shield and countering with brutal precision.

His movements were sharp, efficient—pure military instinct honed to perfection.

The two collided several times in the blink of an eye—the Destroyer's fists and flames slamming against the shield, while Rogers' hammer strikes crashed against its armor.

And incredibly—he was holding his own.

Captain America alone was matching blows with Asgard's ultimate weapon!

"This… what is this man!?"

Loki's expression was terrible—like he'd just been slapped across the face.

A mortal from Midgard—holding off the Destroyer?!What a joke!

This was humiliation—pure and simple!

"He—he stopped it!"

Even the Warriors Three and Sif could hardly believe what they were seeing.

That Midgardian's courage and strength were no less than Thor's own!

It was utterly shocking.

"Captain really is a true fifty-fifty king,"Black Widow murmured in awe.
