Chapter 132 - Another Captain America Who Time-Traveled from the Future?

Unfortunately…

Captain America's "fifty-fifty" trait wasn't absolute. Or rather, it could only boost him up to a certain extent.

Just like in Endgame.

When Captain America lifted the hammer, he managed to overpower Thanos for a short while with a series of rapid combos—but the gap in raw strength between the two could never be bridged by a single hammer.

Once Thanos regained his footing, he swiftly beat Captain America down again.

The battle before them now was no different.

After dozens of exchanges, Captain America was already struggling to hold on. He was completely falling behind.

Bang!

Amid the fierce clash, a sharp metallic clang rang out once more.

The Destroyer's fist slammed into Captain America's shield, sending him—along with both hammer and shield—flying dozens of meters through the air.

He crashed to the ground heavily, lying there like a dead dog.

Both Mjölnir and his shield clattered away.

Hum—!

The Destroyer seized the opportunity, its faceplate glowing with fiery energy as it aimed another devastating attack directly at Captain America.

Zzzt—BOOM!

But Tony Stark wasn't one to just stand by.

The moment he saw Cap in danger, he fired a repulsor blast straight at the Destroyer, staggering the hulking automaton.

Before the Destroyer could regain its footing, Iron Man shot into the air like a streak of light and pummeled it with several heavy punches, forcing it back several steps.

Clang!

Once the Destroyer came to its senses again, it swung a massive hand and smacked Iron Man away like a toy.

Luckily, by then Captain America had already recovered enough to get back on his feet.

He grabbed his shield and hammer once more and charged at the Destroyer again.

"Let's join in too!"

Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, made his decision and called to his companions.

The situation on the battlefield was obvious now.

That mortal—no matter that he could lift Thor's hammer—was still not Thor.

Even with the "iron man" fighting beside him, they could at best suppress the Destroyer, but not destroy it.

Fortunately, the Asgardian warriors were there as well!

If the two Midgardians joined forces with the four Asgardians, then there was still hope!

The Warriors Three and Lady Sif tightened their grips on their weapons and charged into the fray, joining Captain America and Iron Man in the assault.

Clang! Clang! Clang! The crisp sound of metal on metal became faster and more intense.

Though they might have seemed weak in the movies, in truth, the Warriors Three and Lady Sif were formidable—among the strongest fighters in all of Asgard.

With such powerful reinforcements, the battle quickly turned around.

The Destroyer, which had been dominating moments ago, was suddenly forced into retreat, its advantage completely lost.

If not for its ridiculously tough body, it would've already been smashed to pieces by the relentless barrage.

"Warriors of Asgard! Mysterious man of Midgard! Excellent…"

"Excellent indeed!"

From afar, Loki's face grew darker than ever.

The outcome was already obvious. The Destroyer's defeat was inevitable. His plan to kill Thor had failed.

But to Loki, that wasn't a huge problem.

As long as the next phase of his plan went smoothly, it wouldn't matter even if Thor survived.

Soon, Loki would be hailed as the savior of his father—the one who destroyed Jotunheim—and earn endless glory. He would become Odin's pride!

Clang!

As those thoughts flashed through Loki's mind, he noticed the battle below: Lady Sif had driven her spear clean through the Destroyer, pinning it to the ground.

"Mortal! Now!"

Sif shouted toward Captain America.

But she didn't even need to. Captain America was already on the move.

He tightened his grip on the hammer and charged at the Destroyer, unleashing a final, thunderous strike.

BOOM!

The deafening blast made everyone's eardrums ring.

Mjölnir came crashing down like divine judgment, smashing the Destroyer's head flat in an instant.

The massive armor fell heavily to the ground and moved no more.

Its once-brilliant glow dimmed away, and the oppressive aura vanished with it.

Whoosh—

Every Avenger, every Asgardian warrior—even Thor himself—let out a long sigh of relief.

They had won.

After such a grueling battle, they had finally triumphed!Asgard's ultimate weapon, the Destroyer, had been destroyed. The crisis was over.

Smiles spread across everyone's faces—except Thor's.

For the first time in his life, he wasn't the one to save the day. He felt… useless.

And it was a terrible feeling.

"Thor…"

Perceptive as ever, Lady Sif immediately noticed his mood and stepped up beside him.

"I'm fine," Thor said, shaking his head and forcing away his thoughts. His expression turned serious. "Listen to me. You must return at once—expose Loki's lies, and warn my father. Warn Asgard."

So many things written in the diary had come true one after another that Thor's trust in it had reached its peak.

He could no longer doubt it.

From Captain America lifting the hammer, to Loki deceiving the mortals, to sending the Destroyer to kill—it had all unfolded exactly as foretold.

How could he dare ignore it anymore?

And because of that, he couldn't stop thinking about that grim future recorded in the diary—one where his entire family was dead.

He didn't know when or how it would happen. The diary never gave a date.

But he had to warn them.

"Warn them of what?" Sif asked, confused and concerned.

"Warn them that danger is coming," Thor said heavily. "I don't know when, but someday in the future, their lives will be in danger."

Sif and the Warriors Three all turned pale and pressed for details, but Thor couldn't reveal the diary's existence.

"What about you, Thor?" Fandral asked quietly.

"I'll need a bit more time," Thor said, glancing at Captain America holding Mjölnir so effortlessly. "Once I reclaim my hammer, I'll return immediately."

"Until then, my friends… I'm counting on you."

The Asgardians exchanged looks, then nodded firmly.

After a brief farewell to the two mortals who had fought beside them, they swiftly departed.

As for Thor—he and the Avengers headed back toward the nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

With the Destroyer gone, only one thing remained for Thor to do: reclaim his hammer, and restore his divine power.

"Sir, we've won."

Inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. command center, Nick Fury and Coulson watched the live feed on the high-tech transparent screen, both wearing rare expressions of relief.

Even the ever-stoic Fury couldn't hide his satisfaction.

He might always wear a mask of calm, but even he had his moments.

"Yes, we won," Fury nodded, finally allowing himself to relax.

Truth be told, even though the diary had spoiled that Captain America wielding the hammer could crush Thanos, Fury had still been nervous.

After all, the Destroyer was Asgard's ultimate weapon—created by Odin to fight the Celestials!

When it seemed that Captain America couldn't handle it, Fury had been holding his breath the entire time.

Thankfully, Stark and the Asgardian warriors had pulled through.

Together, they had brought the monster down.

Now, Fury's mind turned toward the next task—winning over Thor.

Ideally, Black Widow would secure him before he regained his powers and returned to Asgard.

But that was for later.

For now, Fury glanced at the returning heroes on the screen and stepped out to welcome them personally.

What he didn't know—was that everything shown on his monitors was also appearing, simultaneously, on Zhou Cheng's computer.

That's right.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s systems had been hacked by Zhou Cheng!

With his Quake Girl hacker ability, it was a trivial task.

But Zhou Cheng's face was filled only with confusion.

"Captain America's been dug up early? And he's wielding the hammer?"

"The Destroyer's been taken down by Cap and Iron Man? Thor didn't even fight?"

"And it looks like he's not planning to leave Earth anytime soon either?"

Zhou Cheng scratched his head.

To be honest, this whole Thor storyline had gone way off script.

No—everything had gone off script.

Even Captain America's timeline didn't match.

According to the MCU, at this point in time, Captain America should still be frozen in the Arctic!

Okay, maybe his memory was fuzzy—but there was no way Cap should be wielding the hammer now!

Wasn't that supposed to happen in Avengers: Age of Ultron?

And right now, Avengers 1 hadn't even happened yet!

This universe… was deviating a lot from Earth-199999!

And for Zhou Cheng—who was counting on his foreknowledge to stay one step ahead—that was not good news.

With a sigh, he opened his diary and recorded his frustration:
