*Future Rewritten: Success!*
Charles felt a surge of excitement.
Even though altering the future hadn't changed the mutants' ultimate fate of extinction, at least the Sentinel Robots had been stopped, hadn't they?
Moreover, the diary had long predicted that in the rewritten future, the primary culprit behind the mutants' annihilation would be Stryker's son.
And now?
Stryker, like Trask, was already imprisoned.
While Charles couldn't guarantee that all dangers had been averted, he had already resolved to use Cerebro frequently to monitor these two, preventing their resurgence.
*I don't believe it,* he thought. *With Cerebro and this miraculous diary, there's no way those two could succeed.*
*If they do, I'll just go buy a brick of tofu and smash my head against it.*
The only lingering worry was whether, even with Stryker's son neutralized, the mutants might face other crises.
But there was no way to know for sure. All Charles could do was place his hope in the diary.
After a brief moment of reflection, Charles refocused on the diary.
*Phoenix killed Cyclops and me?*
His brow furrowed slightly.
*This must refer to the time Phoenix went rogue on Demon Island, right?*
According to the diary, the corrupted Phoenix reduced everything around her to ashes.
This perfectly matched his own description of being "blown to smithereens."
Cyclops, also mentioned in the diary as an X-Man, must have met the same fate at Phoenix's hands.
*Even the X-Men weren't spared. It seems Phoenix truly "went dark" back then.*
*She became a terrifying and dangerous demon.*
*But why did Phoenix turn dark?*
This question remained on Charles's mind.
After all, even if the future were reversed, that change would only affect events related to the Sentinel Robots.
And when did the Sentinel Robots first appear?
Charles had already learned from Wolverine that while research on the Sentinel Robots had begun early, in his own era, they only became operational for hunting and eliminating Mutants in 2013.
For so long before that, the Sentinel Robots had remained in the research and development phase!
Strictly speaking, the changes in the new future, after being reversed, should be minimal in the early stages.
Even if there were changes, they would likely be confined to the main culprits, Trask and Stryker, and the key players involved in the future reversal plan: himself, Erik, Raven, Hank, Wolverine, and others.
The destinies of other X-Men, such as Phoenix, Cyclops, and Storm, should remain largely unchanged.
In other words, these individuals would likely become X-Men once again.
For Charles, the potential threat of Phoenix's dark transformation was an issue he couldn't ignore.
After all, her descent into darkness was truly terrifying.
But there was not a shred of evidence for this matter so far.
All Charles could do was place his hope in the diary's spoilers.
"What indomitable vitality!"
"What indomitable mental power!"
Before another diary, Tony couldn't help but exclaim in awe.
*How can someone survive even after being reduced to ashes?*
*That's just too exaggerated!*
The Playboy had possessed the diary for many years now, learning about countless legendary figures and extraordinary individuals.
But to his knowledge, only the Ancient One, that supreme being, could shed her physical body and still survive.
But what kind of being was the Ancient One?
She was a top-tier divine entity!
And yet...
Professor X, a mere human—well, a Mutant, but even Mutants are human, aren't they?—was somehow capable of achieving similar feats!
That was truly remarkable.
Just how powerful was Professor X's mental power?
He could even leave his physical body and possess others to achieve rebirth.
Even Playboy had to give him a thumbs-up and praise, "666!"
But can you believe that this man, the possessor of the world's most powerful brain, would later develop Alzheimer's?
Isn't that the most ironic thing in the world?
If it were an ordinary person, Alzheimer's might just mean personal inconvenience.
But for Professor X? It meant losing control of his own abilities!
During one episode, Professor X even killed most of the X-Men and hundreds of ordinary people!
This forced Wolverine to take him into hiding in New Mexico, living a miserable, nomadic life.
Truly heartbreaking.
What the hell?
Alzheimer's?
Tony didn't know what to say. Even the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.
How could the word "Alzheimer's" be associated with a superhero of Professor X's caliber?
This just didn't add up.
After all, Professor X's mental power was so overwhelmingly, absurdly strong that it transcended the limitations of his physical body.
And yet, he had Alzheimer's?
Was this some kind of joke?
Didn't they say he had the world's strongest brain?
If he could get Alzheimer's, what kind of "strongest" was that?!
For a moment, the Playboy was so full of complaints he didn't know where to start. This was truly baffling.
But the most baffling part was yet to come.
Judging by the diary, even if he had Alzheimer's, it didn't affect his abilities.
His powers were still as strong as ever, he just couldn't control them.
And the consequences of that loss of control?
Hundreds of civilians and a group of X-Men killed!
*Holy shit.*
Even Tony couldn't help but exclaim, "Holy shit." While most people with Alzheimer's cost money, Professor X's Alzheimer's cost lives.
Not just one or two lives, but dozens.
This was truly deadly.
Yet even Tony, with his towering intellect, didn't know how to solve this problem.
After all, Alzheimer's was, strictly speaking, a "symptom" caused by the aging and degeneration of the human body's organs.
Even in today's scientifically advanced era, there's no cure for this.
Because no matter how advanced science becomes, it can't regenerate dead nerve cells or reverse the degeneration of neural tissue, right?
So, yes.
There's really only one way to address the severe "collateral damage" caused by curing Professor X's Alzheimer's:
Keep Professor X far from people, as far as possible!
Even his caregivers couldn't be ordinary people, as caring for a patient of Professor X's caliber truly puts one's life at risk.
Only someone with Wolverine's god-like healing factor could handle such a task.
So, is this why Wolverine has been taking Professor X on the run?
But if Wolverine has taken Professor X all the way to New Mexico, doesn't that mean Professor X's last episode had a massive impact?
It must have alerted the authorities.
Otherwise, why hide abroad?
Considering Professor X killed hundreds of people, alerting the authorities was inevitable.
"I have Alzheimer's?"
"I killed most of the X-Men?"
Charles, standing before another diary, was completely stunned, unable to process such information for a long time.
*How could this be?*
*I'm a Mental and Psychic type, my greatest strength lies in my mind. How could I possibly become mentally deficient?*
*This is no laughing matter!*
*But when I think about how every single prediction in the diary has come true, its accuracy is beyond doubt. Charles was speechless.*
*After a few seconds of stunned silence, he could only shake his head helplessly, a bitter smile playing on his lips.*
*There's nothing anyone can do about getting sick, right?*
*The only thing Charles could do was run far, far away the moment he realized he might be losing his mind. That way, he could prevent another tragedy.*
*But even without this, the mutants' situation wouldn't have been much better.*
*Stryker's son created the ultimate weapon: genetically modified food, a fundamental attack on mutants at the genetic level.*
*For over twenty years, there have been no new mutant births, and the abilities of existing mutants have been steadily declining.*
*Otherwise, why would Wolverine have aged so drastically?*
*He couldn't even defeat his own clone and ultimately died from his injuries.*
*That was Wolverine, with his god-like regenerative abilities! Even a nuclear blast couldn't kill him!*
So this was the truth behind Stryker's son's extermination of the Mutants?
The weapon they used was... food!
I have to admit, this was a method a Playboy like him would never have anticipated.
When the diary revealed that the Mutants were once again exterminated after Wolverine reversed the future, Tony had always wondered what method the human government had used.
He had deduced countless possibilities,
excluding the Sentinel Robots.
But no matter how he thought about it, Tony never imagined they would resort to such a underhanded, such an utterly inhumane approach.
They had abandoned traditional warfare entirely, striking at the very core of the Mutant threat:
the genetic level!
No wonder the diary had said Stryker's son exterminated the Mutants from their source—it wasn't an exaggeration at all.
Tony had even speculated that this "source" referred to eliminating all ordinary people carrying the X-gene.
But the reality was far more "ingenious."
Not only did they weaken the abilities of existing Mutants, but they also prevented new ones from being born!
Good heavens, they had truly erased the Mutant race from its roots!
Cruel, utterly cruel.
Stryker's son, like his father, was truly inhuman.
How could food be used as a weapon?
That's not something a human would do.
"Food!"
"They're actually using food against Mutants!"
Charles, standing before another diary, was equally shocked.
*They can play like this?*
*They can scheme like this?*
Genetic modification was already being explored in this era, but unlike in later times, it wasn't a widely known concept.
In Charles's time, it was still an obscure scientific niche, so he had never heard the term before.
Yet, even from the literal meaning, he could guess its general meaning.
Undoubtedly, this was specially processed food.
Harmless to ordinary people, but poison to Mutants.
Not just any poison either.
This poison, Mutants were forced to eat!
Food was a basic necessity; they couldn't survive without it.
What a cruel and vicious method.
Charles couldn't help but gasp in cold dread.
This made him even more grateful for the diary.
If the diary hadn't specifically mentioned it, how would he have ever thought of this?
In the future, they might have been eating this poison without even knowing it.
They wouldn't even know how they died.
And now?
For him, with Cerebro, preventing such a disaster in advance wasn't difficult at all.
In other words, this latest extinction crisis, after the future had been reversed, could be avoided.
Thinking this, Charles felt a sense of relief and refocused his attention on the diary.
*Wolverine's clone?*
*What's this about?*
*Someone is cloning Mutants?*
*If there's a Wolverine clone, are there clones of other Mutants as well?*
*And why would Wolverine's clone try to kill Wolverine himself?*
*What hidden motives lie behind this?*
*Judging by the diary's tone, could someone be cloning Mutants to use as weapons?*
A series of questions flashed through Charles's mind.
Unfortunately, since the diary provided no further information, Charles couldn't possibly figure out what was going on.
In the entire Marvel universe, who else could go toe-to-toe with Wolverine in terms of self-healing? Apocalypse and Deadpool, right?
If Phoenix hadn't reduced Apocalypse to ashes, he would have been unkillable.
And don't even get me started on Deadpool. After his girlfriend died, he went on a suicidal rampage, trying everything—fire, bombs, you name it—but he just wouldn't die. Even when blown to pieces, his limbs would regenerate.
Haha, in the future, Deadpool and Wolverine will even be captured by the TVA to deal with the Multiversal chaos caused by the Kang Council.
When they first met, they fought like crazy, stabbing each other to death repeatedly, but neither could kill the other.
Just thinking about it is hilarious.
Deadpool, the Little Jerk!
Tony's eyebrow twitched.
The Playboy wasn't unfamiliar with that name; in fact, Deadpool was the first Mutant mentioned in the diary.
There was even a "variant" of Deadpool in his own universe.
That guy was indeed a total jerk, just not a Mutant.
