Just as Ethan was wondering what was going on, he heard a soft, melodious voice.
"You can't kill him like that."
Ethan spun around.
He saw a woman sitting calmly on the blank white floor. She wore a pure white robe simple yet elegant and a thin golden band gently covered her eyes. Around her, various animals made of soft light played quietly. Some chirped, some rolled on the ground, and others rested near her feet.
The scene was incredibly peaceful. For a moment, Ethan felt his heart steady without even realizing it. The tension in his body eased, and his racing thoughts slowed.
"Cute."
The word slipped out before he could stop himself. The moment he realized what he'd said, his expression stiffened.
"..."
A deep silence spread. The animals froze mid-movement and stared at him in shock. Even the woman paused, her head slightly tilted toward him. The air itself seemed to hold its breath.
Then, a soft laugh broke the silence.
